How Xyp9x Became the Iron Man of Astralis

  • Xyp9x may not be the star player of Astralis, but there's no one more feared when it comes to the clutch.
    Presented by CS Money: Your CSGO Skin Expert. Find out more here: www.dexerto.click/CSMoney
    For much of any given game, Xyp9x is often the least noticeable player on his team. He won't get as many highlight reel multi-kills as Magisk, or top the scoreboard consistently like Device - instead, he's dedicated himself to the craft of setting up those players and elevating his team.
    And yet when the camera does fall on him, and he's the only Astralis player standing between them and a round loss, that's when he becomes more dangerous than anyone else in the game.
    This is the story of how Xyp9x stepped out of the spotlight to make space for his team, and in doing so found a whole new stage to shine on.

    They did a analysis of Xyp9x' brain activity when in clutches and it turns out that he becomes more relaxed because he doesn't have to worry about his team mates anymore.

      @magnusw.o.4973 4 года назад +38

      They didn’t actually do an analysis of his brain activity, a professional just said that if they were to do one, it’d be likely that his brain actually functions better under high pressure situations, because he’d be more uninhibited.

    I always considered xyp9x to be the real star player of astralis. Good defensive snipers are almost everywhere nowdays. Awesome position/role players are also a thibg. Top class fragger/entry happen from time to time the zonic/glaive combo is pretty rare though. However, the uncanny ability to clutch like that... Only xyp and un to some extent flusha. I mean the kind of clutching based on mindgames not raw fragging power like coldzera and others. I'm telling you, that's something...

      no disrespect for device at all- he's top tier, literally the second best awper in the world...
      and vv- yeah me too: snatching a round that should be lost & crushing your enemy against the odds can turn a whole match around - multifragging early round wins rounds right?
      but clutching/multifragging late-round? that *ends* rounds.

    • @standingbyhim2011
      @standingbyhim2011 4 года назад

      Kennys, Simple, zywoo, guardian during his prime, prime fallen, woxic, cerq to some extent. Dont get me wrong. Device is world class. Extremely consistent, probably the best defensive awper (at least on A site inferno he is arguably the goat), good flicks, ok at opening frags/aggressive awping but his skills are not really unheard of. Some of the guys outclass him at active awping (flicks, aggressive awp)... and bear in mind that good defensive awping stats are heavily influenced by the team around you (if the other parts of the defensive ctumbles at a breeze, you are basically almost useless as a defensive awper those rounds unless you start going aggressive ). Meanwhile tge clutching.... Except for flusha, prime shox, and possibly prime coldzera, nobody came even close pulling the things this guy isnpulling. Cheers!

    • @standingbyhim2011
      @standingbyhim2011 4 года назад

      @@sjs9698 snatching the rounds with 1vX-s is the most disruptive thing you can do. Even if you are overall the better team better fraggers on par strats, even if you as a team are at your best , when you lose a couple of rounds like that... it has such an impact not only on your economy but on your morale that it's nearly impossible not to tilt or start doing mistakes and lose.

It's not a bad video for people who weren't around at that time but a lot of it feels a little bit off or just information thrown around instead of drawing conclusions. Clips being used of him getting a 1v4 with the SG while talking about 2014 Dignitas is just weird. Neither was he anywhere close to "clutch minister" back then.
      Dexerto has multiple journalists who could tell us more about this topic off the top of their head.
