- An engineer is trying to determine what caused the Cheetah Hunt roller coaster at Busch Gardens to halt, leaving a group of passengers 50 feet in the air.
Who else hates the GP?
Supsidedown04 I HATE THE GENERAL PUBLIC WHEN IT COMES TO COASTERS OMGGG
Me
Yes
im not hating them but holy cr4p they are stupid
yes I hate these people who question roller coaster safety
Oh man, the ignorance of the GP is laughable at this point. It's a launched coaster; there were high winds that day, and the launch might've been 1 or 2 mph slower than normal, ergo it didn't have enough momentum to make it through the course. It never actually "broke down", but news reporters like to dramatize everything and make coasters seem super dangerous, which is total BS. Sorry for the mini-rant, it's just that Cheetah Hunt is my favorite U.S. coaster, and I felt the need to defend it.
Mystic Mamba thata one ride I'm looking forward to ridi g looks super fun
I was about to say the same thing. People really need to realize that they have a higher chance of dying in their bathtub or in a car than a roller coaster. Btw, my home park is BGW.
GP think they know it all when really they know fuck all
Lol I’m in the front row of that. It was awful.
For real dude I think maverick and expedition gforce look great but cheeta hunt is unreal. Unlike any rollercoaster I've ever been on. Literally mimics how I feel like I would feel being a cat jumping into trees and running around.
Damn this is stupid. The ride simply didn't have enough momentum to make it over the first hill, but just enough so that it wouldn't roll back. Now they are trying to play this ride as dangerous with improper inspections. It stopped. OMG call the feds. Roller coasters are designed in blocks so that two trains cannot collide. The ride is perfectly safe and although it stopped on a hill, it stopped safely. No need to panic. Same thing happened when Sheikra stopped last month. The park was following a safe and carefully practiced evacuation plan but there were still news helicopters flying over. Rides breakdown every day. Most of the time it's a sensor glitch. What people don't realize is that riding a roller coaster (as scary to some as it may be) is statistically safer than walking down the street.
captainmaerd
captainmaerd this is why I hate the gp
agreed.
Dam it gp
captainmaerd
completely agree with you. Stuff like this happens all the time. And though it's probably scary for a lot of people riding these when something like this happens, it really isn't too big of a deal
oh my god "if it broke down once im never riding it again" ahhhhh dont u just love the gp
thank youuuu
Another instance of the public overreacting. Its a machine. Machines experience difficulties from time to time. The likely thing that happened here is the is LSMs at the beginning of the ride gave the train just enough launch power that it stalled at the top of the following hill. The selling point on this story is just that they were stuck in a storm. The ride is NOT unsafe, and im sure operation resumed in the following days. Here in Ohio, we are no stranger to malfunctioning Intamin coasters. Cedar Point has several rides built by the same manufacturer as Cheetah Hunt, and Maverick (very similar to Cheetah Hunt) gets stuck in its tunnel on the second launch all the time. It sucks to get stuck like this, but Cheetah Hunt is a machine, and machines have their problems. I love Cheetah Hunt and I love Busch Gardens. Once again, the ride IS safe, and very fun!
gplez91 Intamin's are known for having a lot of down time, Vertical Velocity is always closed and I was stuck on it twice after it stopped, it rolled right threw the station very slowly and went strait up the twisty spike a little bit and got stuck hanging over the water if you know what I mean?
Oh my god this story is crap. Public overreacts once again.
If your not gonna ride it because it broke down you basically can’t ride anything because every ride in existance brakes down
Just like top thrill or kingda ka. It could have been a simple gust of wind to make it halt.
Dylan Clark EXACTLY!!!

literally this is nothing lol i dont understand why they make such a big deal out of it. obviously the launch wasnt fast enough or there was to much friction on the wheels. so the coaster didnt have enough speed to get through the track. no one was injured, no one died.
Aaron Correa
Exactly. It's nothing big at all, just news channels trying to drag people in and spred bad vibes advertising simple coaster mistakes as insane accidents.
They mentioned a strong storm too. Keep in mind that the train moves through that turn pretty slowly, so its very much possible that winds fron the storm created more drag, and the train was balanced perfectly on the top of that turn
The gp sometimes...
I think it's how the news reporters, report it and that scares them because they don't know any better but to believe the news
"a search for answers" ... you found your answer already. The coaster malfunctioned. Like all roller coasters do that ... really dont have to make a BIG deal about it.
925. jay This wasn't even a malfunction. It just didn't make it up a hill all the way
it's called a roll back this happens all the time on some launch coasters. Just like always the GP have to blow everything out of proportion yeah I understand it toke them 3 hours to get the out but this isn't that uncommon to happen with launched coasters.
It didn't roll back though. This is called valleying.
@@ep1cmouse611 yeah but it didn’t exactly valley lmao, I mean I guess this is closest word.
1:00 I. lost. it.
Weather: high winds
Coaster: loses momentum on the first launch due to the wind
News: It appears that they have been stuck in this awful ride for 3 hours and safety measures should be taken, this is not safe to ride and the park is going to be closing soon and tatiana is filling a lawsuit
It is inspected everydayand it is 100% safe. I my self have rode it before. It was with the high winds and rain that the cart didnt have enough momentum to carry on. It stopping is actually safer and continuing. Thank you for ur time
Why are they making such a big deal, it happens, and no one got, hurt and no one died
GP: The Ride
People are reacting over nothing it’s a launched LSM coaster it has sensors on the ride telling theme where each coaster car is and if it doesn’t clear a certain sensor on the ride then the computer that lets the trains depart the station won’t let the next train go I think the real reason why the GP was freaking out was because they were trapped in the rain and got soaked while waiting for help. In short these rides are safer than you think but like everything’s in the world they do have very minor flaws
you break both your legs and you have to heal before use. a roller coaster breaks its legs and its end of world for bush gardens. wtf lol people dont understand this happens all the time
Ikr I mean roller coasters a bound to break down. Nothing is perfect! Every single coaster in the world has been broken down once
Exactly couldnt have said it better. people these days lol
I'm done with these GP, you have a better chance of getting injured on your way to to the park then actually at the park.
The rides are 99.999999999999% safe in NA anyway
This is the most GP thing I have ever seen it just valleyed calm down
I been going to Busch gardens in Tampa FL, for years like 15 years. I have been on these coasters n hello it's raining, if they don't see lightning up to 5 miles they don't shut it down. The ride isn't dangerous just don't ride it knowing rain is coming. Don't get me wrong it doesn't have to be raining for the ride to shut down suddenly. Shit happens I have been stuck up really high, shit was crazy but I still rode the ride. Afterwards. I live in another state now it's been 2 years n I dream of Busch gardens. I have worked there and adventure island. Trust me nothing is safe, I mean in general cars, bikes, being on the road, walking your chances of getting hurt anywhere r the same.
I ride Cheetah hunt so many times it didn’t break down when I was on it
It's so rare for a coaster to valley so yeah chances of this happening are slim but still it's an extremely safe ride never malfunctioned or anything
I would still ride it. This story is blown way out of proportion. its not worthy of being on the news. Someone probably got shot down the street….put that on the news..come on
You have to investigate this shit? The winds from the weather mentioned couldve easily prevented it from proceding, since it goes through that banked turn pretty slow, just like how the 2 stratacoasters can rollback due to weather. Also, it's an LSM launch, so it mightve not reached the proper speed fast enough
Listen, if it's a LSM problem. They will fix it that's problem why its taking them more that 24 hours to fix it. Also the department of Agriculture are in no way roller coaster engineers and definitely are not qualified to see if a ride is safe. Also, it is true that the rides are inspected daily before the park opens.
Holy shit if the news is going nuts over a great ride like cheetah hunt getting stuck they must've been losing their shit the times TTD got stuck at the top of the top hat at times. Rides malfunction all the time no need to make them seem dangerous because they're not, ugh simpletons.
This is why you ride Montu 😁
Gp this happens sometimes
I would love to get stuck on cheetah hunt it’s my favorite ride
Disney trying to throw dirt at the Sea World/Busch Gardens company.
Roller coasters malfunction bro..if it didnt make it up the launch they have a system where it will stop all trains at the nearest brake run.
GP!!!
Well should’ve saw this coming. It’s ABC news.
How is Busch Gardens Tampa struggling?
My car broke down, I never want to use a car again. My internet was down last year, I never want to use it again. My phone died, it’s to dangerous to use.
Weak. Cheeta hunt is like the coolest intamin roller coaster ever. I rode it in 2019 like 7 times and it was great
I live in Florida and it never fails to amaze me how
abc action news is really ignorant, the ride just couldnt complete the launch, this happens all the time on these launch coasters. This isnt anything news worthy.
Yea it’s good that they made sure it wasn’t serious even if it was bad weather
It has 12 seats... how were 15 people stuck??
Lol
Wow the news is stupid. Lol
Damn disney got a lot of reports
can we like stop complaining that people arent as obsessed with rides as we are? good god you guys are entitled
This isn’t a malfunction, it’s simply the launch not providing enough momentum to counter act the cold weather that thickens the grease in the wheels. And the wind that pushes against the trains. The ignorance of the gp is almost funny. It’s not like anyone got hurt, everyone was fine.
I hate GP as much as the next person but we should educate them about coaster safety. The news and top 10 channels make coasters seem so unsafe when you are more likely to die going to the park than dieing on the ride. We were all GP at one time in our lives.
In all honesty the gp only react like this because how the news call it "riders trapped today for hours 150 feets up now we question the safety of this ride" and then that scares the gp because they think it's true and it ain't safe but if the news stopped reporting it the way they do and actually speak some truth then they wouldn't act like that
If it all the harnesses stayed locked no one has EVER been remotely injured it's still safe and u can trust it and heck the ride didn't even break down it was obviously to windy so why are they questioning the safety I really think news reporters should just for 30 minutes actually study what there reporting
It is supposed to barley make it over thats how the first launch goes. Gp are just idiots sometimes
I am here because we were trapped on Chetta Hunt in the hot sun they had to give us water
And sometimes the ride computer detects an abomination
I trust it
Just give it a little push😂
Not as easy as you think 😂
And little brother wanted get on it smh
Edit: I'm just scared of roller coasters do what you want.
so?
but there's SOOO much that goes into roller coasters , they have really smart computers that are there to handle anything , i mean yeah it's a man made coaster it's going to break down , cars break down all the time , & only like 4 people a year die on rollercoasters
This story is BS. Roller coasters are machines. Machines can, at points, malfunction. This can mean performing less work or breaking all together. Anyone that knows how a launch coaster works can tell you that they depend on the launches all launching at the proper speed. This coaster clearly launched from the first launch with less force that usual, and on top of that I'm assuming that the wind brought on by the incoming storm was enough to allow the coaster to get stuck on the crest of a hill. This isn't a safety issue, a safety issue would've been if the coaster train rolled back and there was no safety system in place to stop it from going into the station. News Flash: there is a system to prevent it from rolling back. The launch system also doubles as brakes because you know, engineers aren't dumb. As to that lady that said she wouldn't ride because it broke down, surely you've broken down in a car somewhere only to have the car repaired so it is able to be driven again.
So, it peaked? Can't they just give it a push?
It's not as easy to do that than you'd think. The track is not frictionless and the train is very (VERY) heavy.
Marc Weiner I would assume it would be a similar process to when Dragster peaks; they get out a portable electric winch and move it forward.
+Alex Snitzer I'd assume it's something like that, but I feel like Top Thrill Dragster would be somewhat easier to push over the side.
Not only would that be harder than pushing a car, but the train goes through another launch right after this turn, and that second launch relies on the train having enough speed to begin with. What I mean is that the train could roll back after the second launch.
I was at the park the day that happened lol
It’s what the ride is supposed to do, stop when something is wrong, have some patience woman and just wait for God sake
I don't think there are brakes on that part. The launch just wasn't fast enough.
last time i was at BG cheeta hunt got stuck at the part where you're supposed to go 0-60
It probably rolled back and stopped at the launch because the launch is also brakes.
We were there the other day and I guess it broke down again same exact place last week. Then again the other day due to "technical difficulties"
I still ride it anyway though cuz it's still fun when you see past the anxiety
The GP
I just rode this ride last week
i rode this rollercoster 2times its a fun coster
It happend but in 2019 november or December in a school field trip i was about to go in the ride but they said we could not because it malfunctioned
so?
Not inspectors by the department of agadepartment?
so?
K people this is weird to happen but they do inspect the rides every single day if you want proof got watch a RUclipsr named coaster not he made a video called roller coaster safety or you can also watch coaster studios. Like the launch on this ride could have not made the top speed so while it went through that element on the ride it was too slow
I'm still going to ride it LOL
I got stuck on this ride too but not up there hell no. I got stuck after the river part it was the cart i was in the malfunctioned because there was smoke and the other cars didn’t stop at first.
It didn't malfunction.
lmao what
Did you get stuck at the third launch?
You gotta be fucking kidding me
Whooo heeby Jeebies i went on this ride once and i was bribed to go on it..
Too much drama.... yes people had to sit in the rain for a long time... and this should not happen on a roller coaster, usually trains get stuck on a break run..... people were fine... Sure people had an inconvenient time. Maybe they had an extra train added and the oil in the wheels did not warm up yet and was not viscus enough... maybe there was a head wind.... You're making an elephant out of a mosquito....
How does that even happen, it can't stall there there's no breaks and gravity would pull it down by the 2nd launch
Roller coaster Lover got stuck right in the middle
This is 1 year late, but the first launch didnt give the ride enough speed the complete the first hill but the ride didnt rollback because it was perfectly balanced at the top of the hill
@@twirlyst. you mean 2
I love this ride. This is stupid.
This is the reason that I don't want to ride a roller coaster
Seth Aque It didn't even malfunction 😂
Gp...
this is the reason i ride them
Nothing malfunctioned. Launches marginally vary in speed from time to time. If it launches a little slower than usual and there's wind from an incoming storm, it's possible for it to stop there.
You realize that this comment is four years old right?
People are so stupid, they over react :T
Ohh I wont ride it again pfft go home then lol that's the thrill of it. U dont know weather ur gunna go or no go. Hell I've been stuck on sheikra before at the top just dangling there for like 15 mins while maintenance came to fix the computer on the ride that said the other train was at the second brake station for second drop. Oh not to mention having to walk back down the Cat walk from the top of Montu due to a thunderstorm that rolled in and shut all power down.
what the f
so?
this is why I don't ride roller coasters
great! one last person in line
Mettaton Underkeep hah :)) I agree
Mettaton Underkeep It didn't even malfunction 😂
Marc Weiner still though
Mettaton Underkeep But seriously roller coasters are VERY safe.
