Yeah, the moon is just an illusion a test of your fortitude, i remember a phrase ,i might misinterpret that, "the moon is just blocking the sun the darkness is not really there in fact there was never there all you have to do is remove the illusion so that you can see the light that it was there in the first place".
What it the moon is reversed.
The moon is a reflection of the sun, your happiness. But you need to know that it’s only a reflection. Don’t follow and focus on the moon thinking that it’s the path to what you’re looking for. Your happiness isn’t found in dark, frightening places and thoughts

reading tarot and not being supersticious is like taking medicine without trusting in science, is there the rational mind all there is for this man? "intuition and collective consciousness is just the right brain speaking" kind of thing? does he believe we can do anything with willpower disregarding the outside and others, like if soul was individual?
Imagine you see death of a loved one in a reading, oh I will just wait for it in peace and blessings, make everyday until then beautiful trululu.

I struggle with my relationship and trusting my partner. I keep getting 10 of swords and the moon, which shows to me that if I can’t make a decision or stick to a course of action, I’m going to keep struggling and being fearful. It doesn’t mean that I’m going to be doomed if I leave or doomed if I stay. I’m being held prisoner by my own thoughts about the relationship
I love the moon! The old interpretation is patriarchal. I would delight in the magic and mystery and romance of the moon! It was my best friend as a child. Adventure and discovery. Art and unknown, ripe for creativity. Buried treasure. And much more. Dreaming Toltec style with quetzal.
I was thinking the same, considering how many goddesses are associated with the moon, and how it is the symbol of reincarnation in some Eastern philosophies. I also get the moon card when there are deep-seated emotional habits to be addressed, or past-life issues.

I’m so happy I found your site.
I am so new to tarot cards that I am pulling at least one a day to research and write about while also supporting myself in my understanding of the path I am on and so on.
Yesterday I pulled the devil card.
Honestly, it made me nervous but I pulled a few others to go with it and actually could have just stayed with that one.
The devil is my shadow work… my connection to the strength it gives me. I love April fools and it is coming… it is my trickster side and the laughter at myself and those who are aggressive with me.
It is the fact that I am again connecting with Kali as a strong mother who laughs at convention… supports those who are hurting and is quite scary but tragedy made me lose that part of myself and bringing it back makes me feel whole again.
I see the moon card as the same type of support. Luna… moon… nurturing and cleansing. I have just started learning about crystals and am waiting for the full moon to cleanse them. That is something I’m looking forward to…
I am still doing my research to learn the history because I enjoy that sort of thing but reading the cards is reading… that’s a little different than interpreting or being an interpreter.

Wow. Good stuff. Thank you. I find myself to be guilty of all of the errors you point out here. But of late I have become conscious of error, even while not being able to put my finger on it. The antidote to being bogged down in pre-conceived notions of an issue has been to pull yet another card for clarification. More of a trap? I've got to take notes from your wisdom, John.

It’s strange. I have always loved the moon and I have a very hard time seeing the moon card as negative because the moon lights up the night most of the time and we can see in the dark. Also, I love the very beginning of the crescent moon coming back after the new moon because it means new beginnings. Don’t wonderful things happen in the night like wolves howling at the moon? That’s what we think they are doing anyway but maybe that’s the way they sing love songs or just release their pain if they have been enduring a sorrow or a loss. How lovely. Don’t we all want to go out in the night with our lover and enjoy the romantic night sky tigether? I really mean this. I am just learning tarot and when I pull this card my tendancy is to see it positively. 🌚🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌚
Their view of the moon is a demonization of feminine energy smh. Very patriarchal. The moon bad and the Sun positive and optimistic? Ppl die from heatstroke everyday but I digress.

I think it speaks to how we first see or what we fist see in a card which gives us a direction to work with the spread.

I could see the moon for her question, as meaning it's hidden, meaning it's not meant for her to know yet, and there's meaning behind that because the moon is also what lights our path at night, so it also hides certain things for a time because it's in darkness. That's the way I would have taken the moon card for that type of question.

Reading the cards for oneself is really hard, I find it easier to read for others than for myself, is anyone like that too or just me?
the moon to me is reflective emotions due to water which leads to addressing and overcoming issues to encourage communication expansaion and raising of frequency and vibration .

I use SIMPLE Marseille Tarot Meanings, something new to me, though it works!
(Yes, I could go more in Depth with meanings. I'm just keeping it Simple for myself.)
It really depends on the Question & the Position of the Card in the Celtic Cross Spread(s) or any other spreads. This Will & Does have influence on the Meaning(s) of the Card(s).
Also what other Suits or Major Arcana Card(s) are in the Spread.

So when we read for ourselves, we should look at the image differently than we would for a querent? Not with an eye towards the "meaning" of the card but as if we didn't know what the card means and free associate to all the imagery that catches our attention. I like what you are suggesting. I understand that the moon card has these meanings, but I feel differently about the moon. How do I play that? follow the instructions, or read my interpretation?

so what if the moon was reversed?> I don't always know if the reverse means the negative side of the card?

Getting a Moon or 10s for the future is not as damaging as getting a sun or 10c and you get there and the future is pure sh...

Do you really think that you have control over every external event that you don't like? Sometimes, the solution isn't too change, but to accept.
Dear Sophia: I don't remember saying that "you can just change everything in the reading that you don't like", but maybe I did. Reading for yourself isn't easy, but it's easier when we see that we have control of our reactions and add that to the interpretation. I'll have to re-watch the video, however, to know specifically what I said.
John Ballantrae Yes - we do indeed have always control over our reactions. :-) And even if that doesn't _always_ change the external result, it _can_ always change the effect that those external results have on our _inner_ _selves_. :-)
What if the moon card is reversed?
For me, it's being stuck in a deeply held emotional pattern, but I also see it the more traditional meaning of being deceptive or irrational. I don't read the moon upright as deceptive, though.
can't you use these cards to have a conversation with your own mind.
Superstition: irrational faith in supernatural power.... haha you mean God? LoL
