I asked my daughter what she wanted to do for her 8th birthday. She said, “I want to stay at the haunted hotel”, so we stayed at the Stanley. We didn’t see any ghosts, but it was still really fun.
That's so freaking cool they made the hedge maze..Fun Fact the exterior shots were filmed here in Oregon at Timberline Lodge! Great Jack impressions Woo 🤣🪓
The maze was filmed on the backlot of MGM Borehamwood Studios in England. The overhead shot of the maze was filmed in the parking lot of the Canterbury Building in Borehamwood, England, with a matte painting added. The maze at night was filmed on Stage 1 at Elstree Studios.
The only shots filmed at the Timberline Lodge were what they call second unit, where no actors were required to be there, but they actually filmed there in the winter where a heavy snowfall covered Mount Hood.
I went to the Stanley Hotel once. We were sitting at the bar drinking and we heard what sounded like spooky ghost chanting. Turns out there was a Convention of Priests there singing! Sounded so creepy! Set the scene perfect.

Thanks for this, Adam! I never realized how close the Stanley is to the nearest town. I guess I just naively assumed it was truly remote, like in the movie. Very cool video!
I read the book in 1978/79 and saw The Shining opening night in the theatres !! No one could scare me quite like Kubrick 😊Everyone talks about Hitchcock ( who was , of course , a genius ) but Kubrick was a master of slow moving scare and indelible images … which I love 😊❤️ This place is on my list of places to go and stay 😊
The Timberline Hotel by Mount Hood in Oregon is the exterior location for The Shining…..the book and the movie gave me some quality nightmares I do remember.
Nice video and beautiful hotel. The miniseries is more faithful to the book, that's why King approved and promoted it..and even had his Hitchcockian cameo as the band leader. The mallet isn't a croquet mallet, it was a Roque mallet. Similar game but I believe a Roque mallet is larger. Hope you enjoyed your stay!
My son and I just watched the 97 miniseries 2 nights ago after my sister returned my book with "Carrie", "'Salem's Lot" and "the Shining" after several years. It is very fresh in my mind. What a beautiful place.
I'm so glad you got stay in the Stanley, a couple of years ago they were talking about turning it into a museum. I have been there several times and only got creeped out once in the room where the piano was. Really enjoying your Colorado videos as it is my stomping grounds Thanks Adam
I worked at the Stanley as my first job. I was a housekeeper when I was 15 years old. I guess it was 1989 or so and I worked for a summer. I’ve been in every room in there! I’m actually from Estes Park, so I’ve been there many times. The tunnel is actually where our break room was back in the day. Cool video, made for a lot of nostalgia.
We stayed in room 428 (Cowboy Room) and the cowboy woke my sister up in the middle of the night to give her a kiss!!!! Also if you would’ve looked up the stairway to the “5th” floor it says REDRUM on the ceiling. We did the middle of the night ghost tour and I got my hair pulled and felt fingers wrap around my leg to the point where I screamed and ran by the maintenance man in the basement of the ballroom. We also saw Mrs Stanley’s spirit on the balcony of the ballroom.

Nice stuff. Frank of FrankoTV has made several videos in the Stanley. Noises, doors opening and closing by themselves. As an Oregonian I’ve visited Timberline Lodge that stood in for the Overlook in the exterior shots, at least a dozen times. Spectacular because it’s literally on the side of Mount Hood, the tallest mountain in Oregon
Great vid!! Would love to spend the night. haunted hotels jack up the price for the most haunted rooms. Interesting on the 1911 explosion with Acetylene. Very flammable and unstable.
This place is on my bucket list of places I must visit. I absolutely love the shining. Obviously I think the Stanley Kubrick movie is a masterpiece but I also enjoyed the miniseries and I think the book is Stephen King’s best.
This is exactly what they should have done in Gary. Turn the Hell House into a tourist mecca. And build a museum, art gallery, have guided tours of historic places in town. Have annual Halloween events like in Salem. Smarts, marketing and tourism is what keeps old towns alive.
My wife and I visited in 2005. We had two weird occurrences there. First, we snuck onto the tour when I had a ghost encounter near the basement and the giant boulder. I was last in line when I heard a noise behind me. I looked down and saw dirty boots and Jean cuffs. Then I turned to see who was there and they had disappeared. Second we were walking around outside and near the back we saw the window to rm 217 and there wasn’t supposed to be anyone in it, however, there was a girl in the window w who quickly disappeared. Really spooky.
I really hope you're enjoying your time here in the state. I hope you also took some time to go visit some of the shops in Estes Park. Very touristy, but charming.
What a cool video. I always, always, always catch paranormal activity at this place. It's insane. That's so funny we both posted a video on the Stanley the same week lol. Thanks for your videos Adam! 👻🍍
The Stanley Hotel looks beautiful and the scenery breathtaking as well. I remember when my husband & I took a trip to Italy with a tour group and we stayed in a monastary in Assisi overnight. Everyone had a paranormal experience but us. We had the most peaceful sleep there out of all the places we had stayed in. So who knows why someone feels something while others don’t. We have experienced strange occurrences in the past and present but not in Assisi like everyone else did except for us and two other ladies that said they’re sleep was peaceful like ours. Very strange to explain these things sometimes. Great vlog Adam❣️👍🙏🏻💜
Adam the Boooooo 👻. Also, I think that really old car is what’s known as a “Stanley Steamer.” Also, spooky knocking noise at 23:01, at door of room 401 😱
A late arriving guest at a friend's Cape Cod home, I was putting things in drawers, sharp rap on the door, opened to a pissed adolescent girl. She stared at me, over my shoulder, whirled and stomped down the hall. Thinking I'd been given her room, mentioned it at breakfast next am. What girl ? we're the only ones here, was my answer. I then realized what I thought her nightgown was a dress, white pantellets showed when she whirled around and long ringletted hair. I was too tired to realize at the moment, she was as solid a person as you and I are. Typical New Englanders, one shrugged shoulder, one phrase, "old house" all continued eating in the telling,
I asked my daughter what she wanted to do for her 8th birthday. She said, “I want to stay at the haunted hotel”, so we stayed at the Stanley. We didn’t see any ghosts, but it was still really fun.

Second we were walking around outside and near the back we saw the window to rm 217 and there wasn’t supposed to be anyone in it, however, there was a girl in the window w who quickly disappeared. Really spooky.
Room 313.. Detroit zip code! Great vlog, Adam!!!
I really hope you're enjoying your time here in the state. I hope you also took some time to go visit some of the shops in Estes Park. Very touristy, but charming.
So glad you got to stay there! Great video!
What a cool video. I always, always, always catch paranormal activity at this place. It's insane. That's so funny we both posted a video on the Stanley the same week lol. Thanks for your videos Adam! 👻🍍
I didn't stay here but I visited in 2018 when I was in Estes. Glad to see the hedge maze got a bit taller
Adam in Colorado, I love it!
Also, I think that really old car is what’s known as a “Stanley Steamer.”
Also, spooky knocking noise at 23:01, at door of room 401 😱
You should go to the hotel where they filmed the shining too! Love the videos man

Typical New Englanders, one shrugged shoulder, one phrase, "old house" all continued eating in the telling,
The view from that hotel porch is outstanding. I love it there
