"natural oils" are mostly snake oil products. Most of the time they are barely 'natural' and are highly processed. Doesnt mean theyre bad for you, but they dont have as many benefits as people claim. Not even mentioning the exorbitant prices they charge for them. Spend your money on something thats made with a purpose in mind.
Exactly correct. I always say clear skin starts with having a clear mind. I have had bad skin through my times of bad days and it is a very important contributing factor to ageing and hormonal imbalance which affects how our skin behaves.
My expiration dates are so bad. Anyone else buy products and then never use them bc they ”save” them thinking they should not use them until it is a special occasion and then years pass and it never gets used
Being Asian itself, we look younger. But combined it with healthy diet, exercise and positive outlook in life can make you look a LOT younger looking. I am 39 :)
Better having a little acne than wrinkles. At least you can pretend to be a teenager. But try salicylic acid and retinol to exfoliate and purify the skin from within. Also niacinamide serum does wonders.
Same problem and age but the retinol should help with that. I got a prescription retinol from my dermatologist... you just have to say goodbye to being out in the sun without sunscreen and a hat :(
I bought your 2 minutes 5 years younger set about 2 weeks ago, and the results have exceeded my expectations! As a woman in my early 50's, my skin looks so healthy and glowy and every time I randomly touch my face, it feels so noticeably soft. I have sensitive skin, so I just assumed the retinoid lotion would cause so much irritation I couldn't use it, but that's not been the case. The exfoliating cream's particles are so fine that I would think it's gentler on my skin that a typical exfoliating cream. I've also started using a collagen powder daily about the same time (from Costco). Thank you, Dr Youn!! I'm hooked.
@@aphroditestan It was a powder that you stir into a beverage. I hear someone say (maybe Dr Youn?) That the topical stuff isn't effective. I must admit, I stopped doing the collagen regularly. Vital Proteins makes flavored beverages with collagen that I order occasionally, they are pricey-- but I like them. :)
Great affirmation! I just ordered collagen powder after seeing a young friend's (30s) before and after photos! Side sells a liquid product that sounds good - but pricy! I'm gearing up to make liposomal vitamin C, and will try that process with the collagen as well! (Claudia Glows has tutorials on the process on her channel) I've also added Gua Sha to my daily routine - takes a few minutes and is a fun way to include the skin nutrients!
It is the Youn Beauty Retinol Moisturizer. I just looked on Dr. Youn's website and the packaging looks different now, but hopefully the stuff inside is just as good. :) I avoid the eye area...but it looks like he also sells a Retinol eye cream I have not tried. Best of luck to you!!
I’m 28, have been following a full korean skincare routine for about 4yrs.... I did have fillers in the hollows of my cheeks (I looked like a corpse before - I don’t produce much collagen due to a condition) do occasionally stress smoke because I have some nasty mental disorders and find it gives me 10mins out to recoup but I do stop for long periods of time- have to drink lots of water for my kidneys but omg once I started korean skin care my skin looked like glass or something, I swear I’d look much older because of my conditions etc of it wasn’t for the amazing skin geniuses in South Korea... I use a brand called wonder pore... I also deal with dermatillomania and it helps so much with with the redness scabbing and stopping scars forming. Also find the routine helps me to stop skin picking because it’s so clean, clear and smooth and pretty.
Thankyou! I’ve got sloppy in depression and don’t cleanse every night sometimes 🤯 I won’t do that anymore! Great information especially the exfoliation every 3 days.
You're so easy to listen to. I guess I've had pretty good skin for most of my life, but I have to admit, I haven't taken care of it on the daily. Now, that I'm OLD, it is has gotten drier, so I do occasionally get into a routine of cleaning and using a night cream. YOU have beautiful, clear skin!
Also other tips, Drink LOTS of water and sleep early. You don't need to sleep at like 7 or 8 pm. 9 or 10 pm could be enough. Sleeping early can help you look less stressed and drinking water could help cleanse your insides which could also help on your physical body. Also lessen your skin care routine and make up. Because for the face, it definitely does NOT need that much ingredients for it. But if you really want to keep as much make up on your face, just make sure that the ingredients in it wouldn't damage your skin.
@@trianazablan8499 you might wanna consult your nearest dermatologist. Id suggest a brand called Cetaphil, if it's available there. If you don't have acne, then you can use Vaseline over your moisturizer. And wear a physical sunscreen. P. S.: I'm no expert. ^_^

Guess how did I get control over my acne? I stopped using any face-wash or soap! It's been a year since I switched to just water to wash my face with, while using my hands constantly in a massaging manner that to help take off any oil or dirt (I do it for half or 3/4 of a minute straight.) Now I longer experience breakouts! And yes, your diet and other habits like of good sleeping and drinking lots of water also play a major role in getting a better skin.

Hi Dr. Youn, I am a new follower. Thank you! Your wisdom is far beyond the cutie face and kind advice! Keep inspiring! You made my day better! Love, Laura
No sun. Avoid it as much as you can even with sunscreen. I'm 55 and I have no wrinkles. My staple is Lubriderm after I shower. I've been moisturizing since I was a teen. Of course, a healthy lifestyle is important and I've never abused my body with smoking or drugs and actually quit drinking 2 years ago. I mostly drank wine but I quit cold turkey because I just felt I'd be healthier without it. Also, drinking water is very important and I do take supplements. I actually wear less makeup now than I did years ago and basically, my regimen is really simple. Sorry if I offend anyone but I don't care for fancy creams. I exfoliate with a washcloth in the shower with a basic shower gel like Aveeno.
The sun isnt as bad as you think. Unless you care about no wrinkles when your 80. We're all going to be wrinkly regardless. At least take a vitamin d supplement because it helps cure depression. People legit kill themselves because they get no sun for half the year.
Hello, thank you for your comment ! I'm a 25 year old man and i think it's a good idea to do skin care. Since i smoke 1-1.5 packs a day, i look older than my peers. I have a question for you. Do you apply moisturizing cream to your forehead aswell or just to the face and should i exfoliate my forehead for wrinkles ? Thanks, i wish you the best !

Hello Dr. Youn. Thank you for this video, very interesting to learn what the latest products that are actually worth buying are. I might be an outlier, but I wanted to let you know my routine and the comments I receive all of the time. I do my "full routine" in the morning and at night which consists of: 1. Washing my face with the hand soap (pump bottle) we use in the bathroom and applying a moisturizing lotion. The lotion is used a little differently depending on if it is AM or PM, or I have just shaved my head (yes, I am follicly challenged). 2. In the AM I especially moisturize the T-Zone area, as I have a weird combination of dry and oily skin on my facial area. My eyebrows get dry at the point closest to my nose, so I massage in moisturizing cream there. After shaving, I use the same cream to moisturize my face. 3. In the PM, I again wash my face with the hand soap, but only use the cream on my eyebrows before bed. Throughout the day, due to the oily skin issue I mentioned above, I wash and dry my face, but just using water. No soap and no additional cream, just getting rid of the oil on my skin. So, probably 4 or 5 times throughout the day. I will be 60 in a couple of months, and no one that first meets me ever guesses I am over 45. Younger (18 to 25 yrs old) individuals guess that I am even younger, usually in the 35 to 40 year old range. I get asked, "what is your diet?" or "what do you use on your skin?" quite a bit. The only additional product I use after washing with soap is the moisturizing cream. And it is at every Target or even grocery store, just a Nivea cream that is labeled for dry skin. You did mention Vitamin C can be used on your face. I have never done that, but I do take 1,000 mg of Vitamin C every morning with breakfast, and have been for more than 15 years. Could that be having an effect on my skin condition? Thank you again, and Happy Holidays! Marc
I'd also add drinking enough water. It's so easy to not drink enough water. We drink tea, lemonade, juices etc. But we really need to give the body a sufficient amount of just plain water. I find it difficult myself to get that throughout the day. So what I do is, I drink a big glass of water right after I get up, so I at least have a sufficiently hydrated start into the day.
I'd like to share with you a physical exfoliant I love, and I'd like to hear your thoughts! The most gentle exfoloator for combination-sensitive skin I've experienced = The Konjac Sponge! I feel that my skin type is so hard to understand, and I feel this is reflected through the lack of available products on the market. :( I've had nothing but good experience with the konjac sponge! It doesn't feed my skin extra gunk, and removes residue from cleansers nicely. Been using it for years. I'm sad the hype for it died down--because it is truly gentle and awesome! 😁 It also doesn't damage the environment either! When it's time to replace your konjac sponge, you can use it as plant compost! I hope you manage to see this comment, and think the topic is interesting!
@@outfiniteh8748 I'm not a derma but I don't think u need soap but moisturizer. We have the same problem, I lived in a tropical country so sweat can't be avoided and I have an oily face but after washing my face without saop it's getting better I only now use moisturizer.
@@jazminehardison3643 the soap bars you find on the market can dry your skin because the process of getting out the glycerin from the soap ends up with a soap with drying chemicals and no hydrating glycerin or other hydrating factors... if you would try out a natural processed soap made of oils, you would experience the difference..!
@@outfiniteh8748 It's a wrong assuption that if we try to dry an oily skin, it will work... when we dry an oily skin, it tends to get more oily and greasy, because our skin senses that it has to produce more sebum to hydrate and protect itself... so, try a natural soap made of oils or a soap with salicylic acid and an apropriate moisturiser!😉
Yes start young with the anti-aging creams however unfortunately for me they are usually too thick, and they make me break out 😩 if anyone knows any light anti-aging cream pls let me know 😊
Have you tried Mary Kay? They are great! They are light and you only have to use about a dime sz amount. I’ve been using it for 11yrs and love the products!
Maybe you could try organic cold-pressed coconut oil. I’ve replaced my moisturisers with coconut oil and all I do is, after washing my face, I use it to message and moisturise until it disappears into my skin. All the best with finding something that works for you 😊
Dina Organic Castile liquid soap or liquid black soap applied using a muslin cloth seems to cleans and gently exfoliate at the same time. I use the same soaps on my body, washing with mittens or gloves that exfoliate. Before I started using the muslin face cloth, I found build up of dead skin (despite using a facial scrub) in the creases next to and under my nostrils as well under my bottom lip. Both the soaps I mentioned above are SLS and paraben-free.
Ladies: you can mix fresh aloe Vera gel-from the leaf; castor oil and organic lemon juice to make a mask. It will make your skin glow! You need to filet the aloe vera and throw it in a blender; mix the castor oil and lemon juice; keep refrigerated and use within 2 weeks. It's amazing!!
My wife is 72 and has gorgeous skin.. She has used a BUFF PUFF, invented by the famous dermatologist Norman Oreintreisch, MD, for 40 years. She has not been in the sun for close to 50 years. She has never smoked. Sun and smoking are the very worst things you can do for your skin. She uses a soap called SULFO LO which has antibacterial properties, but is very gentle on the skin. So every night, she washes her face with SULFO LO and the BUFF PUFF. She then uses the Elizabeth Arden line PREVAGE, first the serum, then the night cream, then the eye cream. Very simple. In the morning , she washes her face (always wash with cold water) again, and then applies the Prevage serum and Day Cream. Trust me, this regimen makes her look 45, not 72.
Youre right, being wealthy is everything to looking youthful. I would say second best option is: - use sunscreen from first time you ever set foot in the sun - use tretinoin the day you turn 30 - moisturise - eat well - exercise - meditate Those are the least expensive basics to good skincare. More than that adds up to hundreds of dollars every month.

My mother told me to STOP using bar soap on my face once I started menstruations, so I haven't used it in my face/neck for 50 years as I started @10 yrs old! She also told us to cleanse our faces with cleanser using a dry flannel cloth. @60 yrs old I have wonderful skin! It helps that I drink lots of water too!

Ok thank god i have been doing precisely this for the past 2 years. Except for regular exfoliation that is. Face wash+ vit c 20% + moisturizer sunscreen in morning. Face wash+ tretinoin in problem areas at night. Thanks doc for free advice
As a licensed Esthetician, I can conquer this is true. Its the ingredients of the products you use you have to look into. Also some other tips to help, 1 ALWAYS drink your water. Rule of thumb is 8-10 glasses a day. But if you want to get technical, take your weight, divide in half, and that's how many OUNCES of water your body needs. It will help clear your skin up. 2 As he said, processed/greasy foods are not good for the skin either. Try to eat healthy fruits/veggies/meats. 3 Get proper sleep. Lack of sleep can make you feel groggy and tired, and it shows. It makes your skin more stressed. And lastly, Live Happy! Stress is a huge aging factor. Meditate, take a nap, go for a walk, listen to relaxing music, do yoga. Find something that helps you relax/feel peaceful and practice it daily.
@Ashley Lauren Why do you think it's trash? I react pretty badly to a lot of their products so I just avoid it altogether, but I've seen so many people loving it and using it everyday. Just wanted to know your thoughts
Ashley Lauren they’re not cosmetic products and they don’t all have AHA or BHA in them that’s just misinformation and doesn’t even make sense! The Ordinary is great for trying out different ingredients and seeing which suit your skin at a very affordable price point, after that you can choose a more elegant formulation if you want. The ranges you recommend are much much more expensive, and bought thro’ beauticians , I don’t disagree that they’re good, but The Ordinary has truly democratised skincare.. and it seems esthetician’s aren’t keen!
Ashley Lauren I suggest anybody interested makes their own inquiries, you can get all relevant information on Deciems website and speak to their very good customer service. I’m not a advocate for any skin care company, I just like to read helpful balanced comments as they help us all... don’t take the word of someone speaking nonsense on the inter webs....🙄
Ashley Lauren I’m not sure where you’re getting you’re ingredients list from but all they’re products do not contain either an aha or bha. Their niacinamide serum, which I am currently using, does not. Feel free to look up the ingredients for that product if you don’t believe me. From one aesthetician to another, I’d advise you to do more research.

I'm hooked.
Is the collagen topical or do u ingest it?
(Claudia Glows has tutorials on the process on her channel)
I've also added Gua Sha to my daily routine - takes a few minutes and is a fun way to include the skin nutrients!
What retinoid do you use? I also have sensitive skin.
Thank you so much for making it so honest and simple. So many things at the store, it's overwhelming and expensive

I found just one product from wonder pore. what exactly do you use?

You're so easy to listen to. I guess I've had pretty good skin for most of my life, but I have to admit, I haven't taken care of it on the daily. Now, that I'm OLD, it is has gotten drier, so I do occasionally get into a routine of cleaning and using a night cream. YOU have beautiful, clear skin!
Hello Linda
how are you doing today?
Also other tips, Drink LOTS of water and sleep early.
You don't need to sleep at like 7 or 8 pm. 9 or 10 pm could be enough. Sleeping early can help you look less stressed and drinking water could help cleanse your insides which could also help on your physical body.
Also lessen your skin care routine and make up. Because for the face, it definitely does NOT need that much ingredients for it. But if you really want to keep as much make up on your face, just make sure that the ingredients in it wouldn't damage your skin.
If i do this every day, by next week I'll look like a teen. Couple more days, a newborn! 😅😂

SM M so you never put any type of soap or cleanser in your face? Do you wear makeup? If so, what do you remove it with?

Dr. With all respect you looks so handsome... 👍 and thank you for your advices. 😊
Best and simplest skin care advise I've heard so far. And i've watched a lot. 🥰
@@coltonlyons9230 I do take D3. :)...And I'm still here.

Hello there, how are you doing
I make all my own. It's pretty easy with coconut oil and alpha Lipoic Acid base.
How do you do it?
let us know how
Hello Dr. Youn. Thank you for this video, very interesting to learn what the latest products that are actually worth buying are.
I might be an outlier, but I wanted to let you know my routine and the comments I receive all of the time. I do my "full routine" in the morning and at night which consists of:
Marc
i have used coconut oil for moisturiser for years i am 39. Its very hydrating
To not worry your wrinkles. Have a great day. Greetings from Finland
Cetaphil is the best over the counter cleanse I have ever used. I've tried them all and for some reason they always made my skin break out more.
Cetaphil is one of the best. Recommended me by my dermatologist.
I've had nothing but good experience with the konjac sponge! It doesn't feed my skin extra gunk, and removes residue from cleansers nicely.
Been using it for years. I'm sad the hype for it died down--because it is truly gentle and awesome! 😁
It also doesn't damage the environment either! When it's time to replace your konjac sponge, you can use it as plant compost!
I hope you manage to see this comment, and think the topic is interesting!
That's really helpful! I really didn't understand why my vitamin C serum became brown
I'm turning 62 thank you for the info love watching from the philippines
This guy has the most gorgeous skin !!!
I've been washing my face without soap and yes it worked!
Yes, soap is drying. No matter which one I buy if I use it on my face I need to apply more moisturizer.
But why:when I use soap on my face, instead of getting it dry, it's becoming oily.

All the best with finding something that works for you 😊
Thank you ladies, I’ll have a look at these products
The Green Cord Plant-based Kitchen Great idea! What do you wash your face with? Thanks!
What do you use this for?
never ever put lemon on your face! It can cause major irritation and bleach your skin (in an ugly patchy way)
Thanks, Dr. Youn!
My mom has used just a buff puff and water for years. Lovely skin.
I find buff puff too harsh for my skin and just use water.
Prevage is the best . Sold it when I worked for Elizabeth Arden. If you can afford this it’s worth the money.

If all else fails, read and follow the directions. Or be rich. Looking good easier if you got the bucks to spend.
Youre right, being wealthy is everything to looking youthful. I would say second best option is:
- use sunscreen from first time you ever set foot in the sun
- use tretinoin the day you turn 30
- moisturise
- eat well
- exercise
- meditate
Those are the least expensive basics to good skincare. More than that adds up to hundreds of dollars every month.

As a licensed Esthetician, I can conquer this is true.
Its the ingredients of the products you use you have to look into.
Also some other tips to help,
1 ALWAYS drink your water.
What do you think about DECIEM’s THE ORDINARY Skincare brand?
Ashley Lauren any tips for finding a good aesthetician?
Ashley Lauren I’m not sure where you’re getting you’re ingredients list from but all they’re products do not contain either an aha or bha. Their niacinamide serum, which I am currently using, does not. Feel free to look up the ingredients for that product if you don’t believe me. From one aesthetician to another, I’d advise you to do more research.
