This is an amazing review I definitely gotta try this especially since I just broke 100hrs in terraria and want something a lil new and different to fill that void.
That’s awesome! I’m glad you like the review. I appreciate you saying that and leaving the comment, it’s definitely a great idea to try star bound and like someone else said I would definitely recommend getting the fracking universe mod while you’re at it. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with it or not but it’s free and you just go to the steam workshop. I hope it works out. Let me know how you like it!
I have about 800 total hours in the game, its one of my favorites but I wouldn't particularly recommend the game as much unmodded. Don't get me wrong, the base game is nice, but Frackin' Universe practically doubles the content of the game. Mods keep the game alive and replayable. As an example, with FU whatever species you choose will have custom passive buffs or debuffs; and there are practically countless custom species mods on the steam workshop that have FU integration. There's many other features and mechanics to explore that allow Starbound to feel like its own game separate from Terraria.
For me, Starbound is most enjoyable as a relaxing sandbox building/exploration game. It does have its problems, I was never a fan of the story and earlygame but as soon as you repair the ship you spawn in the game picks up (Note: FU earlygame is slightly altered from the basegame, I don't wanna say its better or worse). Its not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but for people that are fans of Terraria id say its worth a try.
Absolutely, thank you I appreciate, glad you enjoyed! And just so you know, it’s actually pronounced F U - Not F Me
Very well said I definitely agree. Fracking universe really does much more than any regular mod and it really does double the content in the game in a really big portion of it is actual meaningful fun stuff. I think you’re right that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but any fan of terraria should definitely give it a try at least and while they’re at it they might as well put in the fracking universe mod because it just makes it better all around.
There is so much to this game so much Content and such a large percentage of it is good worthwhile Content which is really one of the biggest reasons that 15 or 20 bucks is such a good deal for it . It’s similar enough to terraria for fans of terraria to enjoy it, but different enough to stand up on its own.
im playing this one too , its so fire man im digging it so hardman nice video too by the way mate. we should play together i dont anyone else with this game to play with ,, if ya want to of course , if not no worries, still subbed and liked thanks homie 8)
Great review, thanks
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!
Nice review, but why ur voice can only be heard in the left earphone
Real
Dang this is the first video it happened on, it was on coming out on the left speaker on my computer too. Not sure why, must’ve had the wrong input for my microphone. I appreciate you letting me know, sorry about that, definitely won’t happen again!
Good video and content. Thanks for the info. And as far as F U,
I wouuld say you as well. Lol
No replay value sadly
I actually agree, but that’s really a fault with me. Terraria has a ton of replay value but I was about done after my second playthrough. At least a long break. I think the vast amount of content and procedural generation add a ton of replay value for a lot of people though.
Terraria was fantastic but Starbound not so much. The npc townspeople are useless. Great idea but poorly implemented. Same with trying to be a "sandbox" game but then pidgeholes you into a story as "the chosen one". The multiple worlds were meaningless when other than a tiny handful of them, they're practically all the same. I feel it had potential but the developer wasted it.
Dang, I feel differently on pretty much all that. Which is fine, im sure we both enjoy different things and have different expectations. I think the towns people do a good job of making the world feel lived in and like they would continue on their way whether or not we were there. I think the sandbox claim is also true because no matter what the story puts in front of you, you can choose to go farm neon melons on dwarf terra 9 or become a space cop or bounty hunter chasing criminals. The chosen one dilemma is a tough one because without it, they couldn't give us these epic stories or quests so its a suspension of disbelief that im willing to accept. Your point is still valid though, and i do understand where it's coming from!
@@samtheashen The townspeople do nothing noteworthy though. You can collect money from them now and then and that's it aside from the rare fetch quest. Doesn't really expand on the world as a whole in my opinion. 🤷♂
@@corporateturtle6005 true it doesn’t really do a whole lot, I think it’s still better off with them than without them. Just make it feel a little more homey or lively I guess
