Malcolm Young had this song played at his funeral. Many of those original pipers in the video were still living and gladly performed the song at Malcolm's request. He also had the song Waltzing Matilda played at his funeral as it was his favorite song. Bon's hometown has a statue of him there, and he's holding bagpipes. His father was a piper too. 💔🕊🕯🙏

Paul McCartney tried bagpipes in “Mull of Kintyre” (1977) after he’d heard this. Beatles always wanted to use bagpipes but could never find the right use for them. This is the first successful use of bagpipes in rock…and I can’t think of any others. (“Mull of Kintyre” is hardly rock.)

This was Bon Scott's favourite song, and when he sadly was lost, the band agreed never to play this song live again, another way to honour the legacy of their bandmate.

Well they sure had a funny way of honoring Bon by ripping off his lyrics to the BnB lp claiming B. Johnson wrote them when a simple analysis of Bon and Brian's writing styles and life experiences easily weighs heavily to Bon Scott writing Back in Black, Shook me All Night Long, and all the rest of that album. It wouldn't matter much but BnB was their biggest selling record by far and the royalties writing the songs would've gone to Bon Scott's Widow and children in Australia. As it turned out they got nothing.
RIP Bon Scott and Malcolm Young

@@plantfeeder6677 I'm assuming you have some evidence for the claim that BJ ripped of Bon's lyrics. It will be quite a story if you can prove it as no one else has. What he meant was that he knew how to play the bagpipes not that he could play the bagpipes. The climb to success is never what it seems. Like Bob Seeger said you do your stuff every night sometimes twice a night and after ten years they call you an overnight success.

Bon Scott was also born in Scotland. Many of the members of bands in the 60's and 70's in Australia were from families that immigrated to Australia from the UK. Our population was built on immigration.

The Young brothers are from Scotland but grew-up in Australia. Singer Bon Scott is also from Scotland but also mostly grew-up in Australia. Bassist Mark Evans wrote a memoir about his time in AC/DC (he was kicked-out in 1977), he noted that Bon Scott actually doesn't know how to play the bagpipes and most of the bagpipe section in this song was spliced together after multiple takes.

I saw AC/DC on the Highway to Hell tour and Bon Scott one of the best unique voices in Rock! Sorely missed! I saw AC/DC on Back in Black in 1980 and For Those About to Rock We Salute You in 1981. Brian Johnson was the perfect fit for AC/DC after Bon passed. Brian was a unique voice just like Bon’s voice was unique. Love them both!

This was a huge road song when I was growing up. Summer day, in the car, widows down and song blasting. On the freeway rockin’ out and by the end of the song, you look up to see a cop in the rear view mirror, lights flashing because you’ve apparently been speeding the last 5 minutes..
Great tune! Good pick Phil and Sam! ✌️😎👍💕

Dave Evans was the original singer 1973-1974. He sang on AC/DC's debut song in 1974 ( Can I sit next to you.Girl ) Played on Australian TV. Bon Scott joined the band after Dave left because of relationship problems. Bon was Scottish and played the bagpipes.Angus and Malcolm Young are Australian. The band got their name from their sister who saw AC/DC on the back of a toaster.
