Did Frankie really ever have any kind of a childhood? He was extremely talented but the underbelly of his story is actually incredibly sad. So much abuse, sa, and neglect. It's sickening that this part of his story has been glossed over and normalized. Sick world we live in.

That part of the story when he threw his girlfriends puppy out the window, that’s when I thought, yes, this person may have had a rough life, but hurting helpless animals or children, is something I can not stomach. The actor did a great job but that was that.

Now, this isn't entirely on Mr. Tate. The majority of the responsibility lies with the Director and Executive Producers. And any "reward" that was withheld was withheld rightfully. One thing I notice about many guys that die young is they lived fast. Lots of things like drugs, sex, and career, they achieved a lot of things at earlier ages. Like Buddy Holly, for instance, who died at 22. Dang. R.I.P. Frankie Lymon. He was just a baby!

Long before there were groups such as the Jackson 5 and New Edition, the music world had Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers. I became interested in Frankie's music through the film "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?", which got me discovering 1950s music - the pioneering era of Doo Wop and Rock n' Roll. Had it not been for the turbulent life he lived, he would've been one of the biggest music icons in the 1960s. The music industry is a cruel business, especially for those artists who broke out at a young age as Frankie did. He's truly missed.

This is one of the best online documentaries that I've seen on the great Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers. You covered most of key elements that defined Mr. Lymon and the Teenagers influence upon Rock & Roll's early development. While i found the film starring Larenz Tate as Frankie Lymon entertaining, it really didn't delve into the heart of the groups development and the major impact in which they had in helping to launch what would be known as the popular boy and girl singing groups. Which would define the 1950's, 60's and beyond. Hollywood really needs to invest in producing a feature length film on this multi talented, good looking group of male youth. Who contributed towards popularizing every all male and female vocal group which has flourished since their inception into the music industry!

Thank you so much for making a video about Franklin "Frankie"J.Lymon. He has a beautiful voice and a talent that ended short due to not having the best guidance in his life and the environment he lived in. Also, Frankie (2nd oldest) only had 3 brothers names are Lewis, Timmy, Howie, and no sister. Not sure if their father had other children elsewhere but it was just Frankie and his three brothers. Anyways, you did a great job man and you need a real documentary show.

In my opinion back then they just promised the kids and parents a lot of stuff that they knew they weren’t going to give them. These ppl were struggling to pay their bills and take care of their family. So I feel like they preyed on that. Also, at that time most black ppl didn’t know much about stuff like that. Nowadays sadly not much has changed. U have a handful of parents that are involved in their underage kids career.

Both parents were present, the family was into gospel singing, his brother Louis Lymon, had his own singing group.
Unfortunately, being a professional child, there was no tutoring, no parental supervision, I guess it seemed "cute to the parents" that he was attending grown up parties, hobnobbing with older celebrities.
It's the parents' fault; plain and simple.
