I grew up watching guys like Rick Rude work their asses off putting over guys that didn't deserve it. I miss the good old days when kayfabe meant something
I think part of the Warriors title run was that they didn’t have a real heel to face the Warrior. Instead of having Earthquake vs Warrior they put him with Hogen.
Rick Rude did the right thing and went to WCW. His time and run there was much more successful and entertaining and of course, he used his reputation built in the WWF to make his run work. God bless!
Rude was a lot like Savage in terms of making the other guy look like superman. Nobody done “ getting your arse handed to ya” better than Rick Rude and Randy Savage .
@@derekgaliee4351 . There are countless videos on RUclips including from Barry Darsow ( Smash from Demolition), along with The Warlord, Jake the Snake, Dutch Mantel, Ted Dibiase, and Greg Valentine have all said that Rick Rude beat the brakes off Warrior to the point Warrior was on the floor in the fetal position. You obviously are to young or dumb to know but Rick Rude was the biggest real life bad ass in the wrestling community at that time.along with Haku. He was a US National Champion arm wrestler before he started wrestling. He also worked as a bouncer at the world famous outlaw biker bar Grandma Beas in Minneapolis along with Animal from Legion of Doom/ The Road Warriors, Barry Darsow who was Smash from Demolition, and John Nord who was The Berserker. Animal, Rude, and Curt Henning all went to High School together and we're friends. Animal and Smash have told the story about one night a bunch of 1%er outlaw bikers came into the bar looking to fight and destroy the place, Animal said he and Smash along with The Berserker immediately tried to find Rick Rude so the 4 of them were together to confront the bikers when they heard men screaming like women. Turns out Rick Rude was fighting 5 of the bikers by himself and within about 2 minutes had 4 of them knocked out cold on the ground and the other guy crying on the ground. That biker that didn't pass out got hit in the face 3 times by Rick and suffered a broken jaw with 6 missing teeth, a broken nose which quickly caused 2 black eyes, a broken orbital bone near his right eye, and had to go to the hospital in an ambulance due to Rick hitting him so hard his brain bruised and swelled. The cops came to question Rick and everyone else because the cops said no one could cause that much damage with their fists and thought he had used a lead or metal pipe, a Billy club, or even a baseball bat. It's confirmed Warrior got stupid and Rick Rude made him pay.. Rude also knocked Brutus the Barber Beefcake out backstage in a fight. Stone Cold travelled with Rick in the early to mid 90s in WCW and Steve called Rick Rude the biggest badass in the business. Diesel said he would never fight him. The thing is he was known as a great guy that would help anyone...But if you crossed him you were going to lose the fight. Educate yourself. There are tons of videos on RUclips from people that were actually there when it happened. Warrior got his ass kicked...Deal with it.
Unfortunately Hennig barely had a career from ‘91 onwards and was never fit enough to carry a major belt. If I could book retrospectively, I’d have given him the win at RR 93 and made his KOTR 93 match with Bret the main event at WMIX.
Thing is, I doubt Vince would have given a guy like Hennig the strap before the steroid scandal. 92-93 would have bee the perfect time for him to transition into the main event scene. Hell, he was already involved in an angle with Flair so this would more or less write itself. Turn around my previous scenario; Hennig wins the Belt from Flair after SS92 and defends at RR. Hart wins RR and then goes on to beat Hennig at WM. The main issue was this that the injuries had killed his momentum whereas Bret was hot after his match with Bulldog at Wembley.
@@Halbared swap out slaughter?!? During the Iraq war? That story line of Slaughter turning on America was way bigger than anything Hennig would have been a part of. That is crazy talk

@@adamrenfrow You ever see the match? Ref called the match after a 2 count and awarded the belt to Andre because he was bought off. Then again, it's just professional wrestling.
Rick Rude could’ve made a trash can look like the greatest wrestler of all time, so it’s not surprising that he was able to make Warrior look so much better than he actually was.
If Rude would have split from Bobby Heenan we could have seen Rude vs Mr Perfect and that would have been epic. Rude as a babydace vs a heel Mr Perfect.
@Greg Bailey You should check out his time in ECW. It's probably the only time Rude was ever a face and he was super over with the crowd. Of course, he's a natural heel though, one of the best to ever do it.
Rick Rude DID reinvent himself. Unfortunately creative and company dropped the ball as if their collective brains left their bodies. He showed that he could be WORLD CHAMPION but politics & idiocy won over. Rude's early time in the WWF was phenomenal. Thankfully he garnered even more success- it's called his WCW career. What he proved in WWF, he ran wild with in WCW. Who else would walk up to Ron Simmons & tear him down in a promo the way he did? Even WCW screwed him over. Instead of the Int'l World champion blurriness he should have been THE WORLD CHAMPION
I am surprised Bruce, Conrad, and Meltzer gave this a 2 star rating. I thought their WM 5 match was good, the Summer Slam 1989 match was excellent, but this match was awful. Just a real slow match with both wrestlers not doing anything. I was real let down when I rented this on VHS as a kid.
Rude trusted Hennig. That's probably why he left. Curt would get off on fucking with people. He most likely stirred up Rick and he left. Bad rib to play on a friend.
