I tried that as well but after exploring the hairspray as well, It appears that after a while, hairsprays can affect pastel drawings in a way that it will make them yellowish and the colors a bit dull as well, I tried it myself before and similar thing happened, so I kind of avoided that as well. No fixatives for me anymore 😁
I used to use my wife's hairspray. It did the job and smelled lovely too
