Bless you auntie
Ma'am, I have such respect and awe for you right now. To have been there to hear those words and to have been able to use them as a compass to guide you through those difficult times is an amazing thing.
I love this so much! I revisit this every year. Thank you Dr. King! You are a mighty ancestor and your work was not in vain.
We need love and become more loving to our beautiful black sisters and brothers smiling
I love you more
Your words are a balm on a wounded soul, even all these years later. Thank you Dr. King.
"If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music, sweep streets like Leontyne Price sings before the Metropolitan Opera. Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say: Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well."
I can't get enough of listening to Dr. King.
Who pressed the dislike button they must Trump supporters ...4real!
Many use his "I Have a Dream" speech as their "go-to" Martin Luther King, Jr. speech but his message of the dignity of work makes this mine.
"Don't allow anybody to pull you so low as to make you hate them."
"Our slogan must not be 'burn baby burn' it must be 'build baby build!'"
Don't hear this much anymore, unfortunately. He always kept his message positive and constructive.
When they go low we go high
When they go low we go high
When they go low we go high
When they go low we go high
When they go low we go high
This should be played in every classroom in America on his day
I graduated from Barrett in 1997. Went here all 4 years and never knew he visited the school. Thank you RUclips
That's a shame... would be nice to at least have a plaque commemorating the date and the fact that he actually walked those halls and spoke these words.
My teacher went to this school she said that dr king stopped in her class and they all went wild and hugged him ! She said one of the students asked him how long would he be there and he said not long she stated he was a short guy .
He took the time to speak to jr. high school students. Incredible!
My sister was there. She was a student at Barrett at the time.
I loved his letter to American Christians. The best ever. Oh my God.
WOW, I never knew most of the quotes we know today are from this speech! Powerful and welcoming. Thank you, Dr. King for your contributions to the advancement of the human race.
Thank you Dr. King 💕🍃🙏🏾
Feb 4, 2022: I wish Dr. King had visited Madison Junior High in ABQ when I was a student in the late 60s. (Thank you for encouraging me.....we all love you still. I agree with you 100%.) I was raised a Catholic and landed up at Liberty University! Still waiting for God to show me the purpose of three (3) master's degrees!? Blessings in the new year! Jeremiah 29:11
WOW!! What wisdom and life lessons for us all.
Excellent man, be the best at what ever you do that is good.
A standing O for Dr. King. Self-esteem. excellence and fighting for human rights. A prescription for all of us no matter what age, color, or class. And then to keep on moving no matter how slow the progress.
