President Biden gets diverted around Beverly Hills in a Chevy Suburban 🇺🇸 🚔

- The motorcade for President Joe Biden comes past twice in Beverly Hills as he attends private fundraising events. Something caused the motorcade to divert and come by on the same streets as a few minutes before. There were extensive protests in the area, which may have been the cause.
This time, the President of the United States was riding in the more maneuverable Chevrolet Suburbans fitted out the same as the Cadillac Presidential Stately Limousines. The US Secret Service operates these vehicles in hilly areas and during low profile trips by the US President. The White House Communications Agency are also in the motorcade with comms vehicles. The California Highway Patrol escort the motorcade while the Los Angeles Fire Department provide ambulances. The Los Angeles Police Department working with the Beverly Hills Police Department provide street closures. There are also multiple press agencies and support staff riding in vans.

4:25 Notice how these newer 2015-2020 Suburban SUVs are equipped with older model mirrors and HD (heavy duty) wheels. My guess is that they're running some expensive/special sensors behind those mirrors and it's cheaper to just move them to the new trucks as opposed to rebuilding a new mirror. Same goes for those wheels, they look like some special run-flat wheels that can take a bullet without blowing out.
Just like in the film "Airplane" I'm waiting for the Ice Cream van, Budweiser Truck and Cement lorry to follow up the rear.

19 suburbans and vans....plus a few tahoes from CHP...and some other ancillary gasoline powered vehicles in his motorcade....but we have to drive electric cars because climate change is, in his words, an existential threat.

I always enjoy your POTUS coverage and admire your ability to cover so much with such great visual and sound quality. On what basis is the decision to use “the beast”, versus the S UV type vehicle made?
Thank you! The SUVs are often used in rural, hilly, and tight areas such as around Beverly Hills as they're more manoeuvrable.
They're also used as a 'secondary' purpose for low profile movements / as a spare.
For example, if the President is taking Marine One to fly each place, then there's always a car on standby on the ground where it lands in case the aircraft gets grounded, it may not get used but it's there and it's often the Suburbans. Same when he's on private engagements or travelling around Delaware at the weekend.
Sometimes, it's also just what is available. If you can imagine everywhere that he flies from the White House to Andrews to wherever in the world, and onto multiple locations. There has to be a motorcade. That would be a lot of limousines, so the Suburbans also fill in that requirement.
Lastly, I have seen them being used as a spare when one of the limousines was damaged whilst exiting the US Embassy in Ireland.

No it's the president's motorcade and you can tell this by looking at the flags and the seal on the door. If the flag and seal is blue it's the President's motorcade, if it is white then it's the Vice President's motorcade

That's a Secret Service decision, more than it is his. They limit what the president can do, like driving. Since honest abe, JFK, etc. they're taking no chances.

Every single one of those motorcycle cops could be on the roads and highways looking for extremely unsafe driving instead of wasting all this time so a politician can raise more money. My guess is between the preparation on preceding days and overtime associated with this event it is probably three work days lost for each police unit.
