Definitely I'm getting one of these! Thanks so much for the Manfrotto plate! When you're shooting in an event/wedding this switching have to be faster, this is huge game changer.
For those who wants to know about 7D mark II Yes, it works using Crane 2 also And Yes, you can powered EOS using Crane 2 battery port directly Only problem is, I havent found micro usb to micro usb cable on the market, Zhiyun also did not sell this cable They provide 1 cable on the package but I would like to have spare cables
Nice and useful video. As you just said there is very little documentation about this gimbal, and being a recent released product makes it even harder to find more info about it. I'm very interested in zhiyun crane gimbals because of its timelapse capabilities, and this gimbal is perfect because it can handle my 5D M3. I know previous versions included the ability to make pan/tilt timelapses through the app, do you know if this version also has those features? Is it the same or more advanced than previous versions? Thanks for your help
Hey Curtis, as always great review and I do have a question. I could have sworn that I saw a video where the Crane 2 had a fourth mode for Roll Follow. Do you know if this is correct? Was there an update that enabled this? Also, while rotating (yaw) the Crane 2 via the joystick can you move it up and down (adjust the pitch) at the same time? I have the Pilotfly H2 and it can do this but has a data problem so I recently bought the Moza Air and it can't do it which is why I'm now looking into the Crane 2.
Hi, I am upgrading from a. glidecam and can't decide between the v2 and crane 2! I use a GH5. Is there a major reason to go with the crane 2? Does it produce better smooth footage than the v2? Great videos by the way!
I’m struggling with working out how to best use the follow focus with Canon cameras. When I have the lens set to MF it doesn't seem to work, but when I have it set to AF whilst it works, sometimes the auto focus actually kicks in, so I end up unsure what it's actually focusing on - whether the focus is set to what I set it to with the focus knob, or if it's auto focusing - not good! Would really like some clarification on this. Whether lenses should be set to MF or AF, and if set to AF to use the focus control how do you stop it auto focusing, and what if you want to use auto focus? Do you have to disconnect the cable in which case you lose all camera control. Really could do with some guidance on this or other people’s experiences. Thanks.
can you adjust the speed and sensitivity on the joystick for pan tilt and roll as it moves to fast and is hard to keep a same slow speed but still love it
Hi! I'm the new user with this gimbal and I have an issue when I used zhiyun crane 2 with my 700D + canon STM 18-55mm lens. The issue is Zhiyun Crane 2 continue slightly to the left slowly when I use in Lock mode. Can you tell me what can I do to fix this issue? I just do callibrate, and setting properly. But that issue still there, you can easily to see it when you shot timelapse with zhiyun crane 2.
Wow! Very good, congratulation Zhiyun-Tech, good guys and Curtis Judd is a great guy too! Just one question, the app ZY Paly works with Zhiyun Crane 2? Thank a lot for attention!
Great video! Thanks! I did not understand if I can start recording video with the GH5 pressing the record button on the gimbal... I hope they will enable the follow focus with Panasonic because I have the GH5. Thank you very much!
I owned a GH5 and a Zhiyun Crane ver2, and I hope that Panasonic will incorporate with Zhiyun, Crane 2 to allow follow focus feature available in near future..and I would upgrade..btw great video as always learned a lot from your channel 👍👌
It is not possible, algorithm on the panasonic itself doesnt allow or able to follow focus Canon already support using usb by default What you asked is not easy and quite impossible unless panasonic released a new model with totally new design
Question for anyone with a the crane 2 paired with the gh5. When I press the recording button on the gimbal the gh5 5 only records for 1 second and stops. Does anyone know a fix for this problem. Is it settings or firmware of either the crane or gimbal?
Hi m.deezy, yes, if it without the lens, the Crane 2's minimum payload is 500g, and if you want to mount the Lumix G7, you'd better use a len and counterweight.
Hi, jailee, we suggest you balance it again and check that if the firmware is the newest version? If it still failed, Please kindly try here for professional help: service@zhiyun-tech.com, Or:facebook.com/officialzhiyunsupport/?ref=ts&fref=ts
i just got the Crane 2 today and both my 1DXmkII and A7sII (with battery grip) are TOO HIGH as to their center of gravity. I CANNOT ACHIEVE THE DYNAMIC BALANCE NEEDE prior to powering on the gimbal. if i tape 2 F550 batteries underneath the camera plate platform then i can get the A7sII with its battery grip to dynamic balance. the Crane 2 "will" work for a bit with the 1DXmkII but eventually the motors give way and the camera lens (front of the camera) falls downward hard and fast. almost scraped my sigma 8-16mm lens on the bottom motor assembly as it whipped down. when it did this so ill say its way to dangerous to trust this with that body from my experience so far. the "HEAVIEST" camera that i can say that i actually saw DYNAMIC BALANCE was the 5DmkIV so far and the arm coming off of the side motor was close to being nearly all the way lowered in order to achieve balance. it seems for the cameras with a higher COG the up and down bracket coming out of the "SIDE MOTOR" would have to be significantly longer allowing a lowering of the camera. bummer! other than that it seems nice but if all your going to use is a GH5 or A7s (no battery grip) or a6500 i honestly would just get the cheaper Crane v2 for $200 less and its also lighter. i might send mine back for that setup instead.
formattester6 you can perfectly balance the 1dx but you need to dismantle the axis (unscrew 4 screws) and set it back together a little lower. Works 100% for my 1dx
Titan Filmworks, what lens do you use? We have not do a test for 70D yet, but the follow focus is not just for 5D, also support 6D、80D、60D、750D and so on.
Raju Panduranga, yep, that's ok.For the Canon camera used, except not supporting the 1D series, basically it supports all the camera, which is required to be released after 2008. The lens can be used to 70-200, which is not recommended to be used on more big lens.
I have created two support issues with Zhiyun Tech and there seems to be no one responsible for answering The follow focus with 24-70 with canon 5D3 does not work and works well with 16-35. With this kind of support think twice before you buy.
Ranjith Kumar, sorry to hear that, we don't know which ways did you contact Zhiyun Tech, but i suggest you that you should adjust the lens to AF so the follow focus can be available.
Zhiyun-tech thank you for your response I tried first in Facebook and then sent a message to the support email provided by a Facebook message. Regarding the followfocus yes I am keeping it on AF. It works on my 16-35 but not on 24-70 mm it just keeps switching from end to end on the focus limiters on the lens
Definitely I'm getting one of these! Thanks so much for the Manfrotto plate! When you're shooting in an event/wedding this switching have to be faster, this is huge game changer.
Great video. Clean and direct. Thank you!
Dying to get my hands on this...
Really enjoyed this video Chris, thank you. You communicate so well.
For those who wants to know about 7D mark II
Yes, it works using Crane 2 also

Toni parts thank you that’s the clarification I was looking for 👍🏻

Great review. Can you explain what the follow focus feature does if you have the supported camera?
Great review. What about roll motion? Does it follow your movements?
so when is the support for sony cameras follow focus coming

Hey, you can set the motor to low if you want to use it on a smaller camera. I used it on my qx100 =D
Curtis would you please do a video on how to update the firmware on the Zhiyun Crane 2 for Windows 10 users??????? Please, please.......
Thanks. 😊 Do the app, zy play, and time lapse function work with this model?
Thanks nice video but Does it support timelaps and hyperlaps threw the app.

It also works for the canon 6D and the 6D mark II
Hi,
In what mode do you use to be able to manipulate the camera directly instead of the joystick?
Would this work for a Sony Nex 5? Or would your recommend another model?
what is the best zhiyune gimbal for a canon 77D ??
the plus or the 2
What do you think? Is the crane big enogh for an a7s with the 28-135 f 4.0 G OSS?
Does any cannon dslr work for the follow focus? Or only the two you mentioned? I have the 80D
can you adjust the speed and sensitivity on the joystick for pan tilt and roll as it moves to fast and is hard to keep a same slow speed but still love it
Hi I have Sony FDA ax 100 video camera, can I setup on crane 2 . Please let me know

Hi! I would like to know if the follow focus wheel in Crane2 works with a SonyA7ii camera with a 28-70 mm f/3.5 - 5.6 OSS lenses...
hello,This is normal response, gimbal can start when it inverted, but not in this way,
Hi i'm Davide from italy,
This zhiyun carne 2 work with fujifilm xt-2 ?
Thanks.
Great review thank you
i use a Canon 700d and a lens Canon 50mm 1.4 and i the follow focus doesn't work... Do you have any solution please?
Thanks!!!
The follow focus should work with the Canon T3i. 600D using a Canon EF lens. Anyone know for certain?
would the crane2 sony cable work with the sony nx80 4k camcorder?
Is it possible to use two remote controls on the crane 2?
Wow! Very good, congratulation Zhiyun-Tech, good guys and Curtis Judd is a great guy too! Just one question, the app ZY Paly works with Zhiyun Crane 2? Thank a lot for attention!
Marco Felippe, sorry for the late reply, absolutely can, you can choose "Crane 2" when your bluetooth connect toZyplay.
Great video! Thanks! I did not understand if I can start recording video with the GH5 pressing the record button on the gimbal... I hope they will enable the follow focus with Panasonic because I have the GH5. Thank you very much!
i would like to know that too
Where's the link for balancing?
Amazing piece of equipment! Will there be a timelapse mode for the gimbal? If so, it would be the best gimbal that is out there!
Daan Venmans, that's ok, Crane 2 has the timelapse function:)
Zhiyun-tech Wonderful! Can't wait to try it out!
is it possible to balance the crane 2 with canon 80d mounted w/ a gopro? i really had a hard time balancing it. please help.
does af work on 6D as well
i have my a6000 35mm 1.8 lens on it and it work great on crane 2!
I owned a GH5 and a Zhiyun Crane ver2, and I hope that Panasonic will incorporate with Zhiyun, Crane 2 to allow follow focus feature available in near future..and I would upgrade..btw great video as always learned a lot from your channel 👍👌

Canon already support using usb by default
What you asked is not easy and quite impossible unless panasonic released a new model with totally new design
dove si compra il cavo per la 5d mark 4??
Simply get the 100 bucks follow focus from zhiyun and it'll make the job. You'll mostly adapt lenses on the Panasonic.
Question for anyone with a the crane 2 paired with the gh5. When I press the recording button on the gimbal the gh5 5 only records for 1 second and stops. Does anyone know a fix for this problem. Is it settings or firmware of either the crane or gimbal?
Add the rather hard balancing proccess and lack of follow focus outside canon to the list of cons
Would the Lumix G7 be too light for this gimbal? I'm having a hard time trying to find a gimbal that for sure works with the g7.
Hi m.deezy, yes, if it without the lens, the Crane 2's minimum payload is 500g, and if you want to mount the Lumix G7, you'd better use a len and counterweight.
Any reasons why sometime my crane 2 all of a sudden jerks towards right when I'm slowly turning?
Hi, jailee, we suggest you balance it again and check that if the firmware is the newest version? If it still failed,

could you elaborate a bit more on how you do this?
formattester6 there’s actually good tutorials on RUclips. Just type in 1dx balance zhiyun
formattester6 I got a canon m6...to low so I put something on the top to move its centre of balance!
I just got the Crane 2 and love it but I'm trying to use the follow focus with my 70D. Does anyone know if its purely a 5D thing right now?
Titan Filmworks, what lens do you use? We have not do a test for 70D yet, but the follow focus is not just for 5D, also support 6D、80D、60D、750D and so on.

It looks big enough to mount a camcorder :)
Had it only month then it stopped working..
So nikon is out of the picture I see 😥
Dear Santa....
Fking crane it came with no instructions at all😅
