I can't wait for spring. I love watching farmers do there thing. When I was little I lived across from a older farmer and would spend alot of time there just watching and helping him. I loved it when I got to ride with him. He had a old Oliver And a small/ medium John Deere with a front loader.
Impressive, impressive indeed. That monster flywheel is going to eat some hay. And nice job showing off the moving parts. As an engineer and a farmer, I loving see how stuff moves. Keep the gears turning in my mind for projects at work and on the farm. Can't wait to see it in the field.
thanks for showing this. back in the 80's the family missed the husband overnight. the family found the husband into the machine, of course he was dead and the tractor ran out of fuel. not a pretty picture. i can't forget that but time helps. i have found a farmer that was rolled over by a round bale also, not a good outcome. the good old days, miss the calls, now retired.
The rollers in the feeder are lubed by the auto lube pump. There are lube fittings that need to be lubed using a needle on those rollers. I'd check those rollers daily and make sure they all have grease getting to them.
+Andy Kinker Just a question as I'm not a farmer.............. Would there be anything to bale after a freeze and several inches of snow to flatten anything left standing?
If you search some of his older videos from previous years he bailed some i believe some government ground in the winter time. It was time consuming and working on frozen ground is not fun. Heavy equipment and soft spots in fields don't work too good. We use disc mowers much like on the front of his John Deere, its amazing what they will pick up. We bale hay for cattle and wouldn't do it, but for mulch hay like he does it's ok. You need to search the video where the Pandy's got the tractor and baler stuck in the winter time . It's a classic.
that decal with the umbrella and power washer X'ed out means that it can withstand rain but you shouldn't power wash it because the pressure will penetrate the electrical connections. Same exact decals on my John Deere 100 square baler. (base design was Krone 80-80 baler)
Hey Wes, people at Krone know what they're doing when they build haying equipment. I did notice something you may have an issue with later on. There's a hose, (grease line), that's moving along with the plunger, it's rubbing. You may want to look at it closer and possibly stay tie it to keep it from rubbing against the plunger arm. Great video as always. Cheers :)
Suggestion: Paint that brake handle bright red or fluorescent orange so it's easily identified. If someone has to shut it down quickly it isn't something you want them to be searching for.
Very cool demonstration wes. I must admit its looked a little scary from the cameras perspective staring down at certain death but you know what you're doing. I was wondering about a braking system and then you showed the hand brake and that was answered.
Calibrated Power Solutions has been tuning John Deere tractors for some time now and advertise exactly what your looking for. They have been tuning diesel pickups for many many years, I would certainly look into them Wes!
hi wes ref new baler there is one part well worth keeping for your new baler . a spare pickup wheel and tyre,on my farm we cut hedges with flail and those little tyres get distroyed when punchers from thorns , and always on a sunday ,about the only part you mite need ....regards dave
that is one intimidating machine up close for sure am sure the section cut bales will be useful for hay buyers with smaller farms being easier to manage in the barns that should make the hay easier to sell as well unless every hay seller has a krone or another baler that can do the same as this one
I'm anxious to see you out bailing with this thing and see if you like it better than the others. Looks more robustly built so should bail just fine without braking down.
Wow what a difference between the new Holland and the krone a beautiful peice of equipment you have there. Can you show that old mack in a video it looks like a nice old truck
+heyhey1956 It's amazingly quiet, the balance of all these moving parts are real engineering, can you think how would the baler bounce if something is not synchronized balance, for any baler but this one is so HEAVY, it makes it more special
Jan Kotze Jan I was just thinking about the plunger noise on our NH 281 even as you idle the tractor back when you got off the tractor it was still rocking the tractor backwards and forward, OK fair enough from memory I'm not 100% sure because it was over 40 years ago but I'm pretty certain the plunger speed was around 80 strokes per minute because it was only a 16"x18" bale from that baler, whereas Wes's Krone is only doing 45 strokes per minute, also the plunger on the left side of the baler! But the quietness and how smooth the operation was on that Krone baler spun me out completely, it just shows the German build quality all the way!
I wonder if the tines are moving faster could the head be risen up a bit and achieve the same pick up as a slower one . It might have less chance of crashing into the ground
That was awsum I cant wait to see it in the field. Why wont anyone program the ECU? And why wont you get a used ecu? You started explaining but stopped
I do see on the plunger a wire or hose more going to the backside of the plunger and been pulled a bit to far so I am guessing this hose will wear out a bit to quickly watch around the 9min marker that hose going to the splitter and been stretched each push the compactor is pushing the hay together I think it's about 4-5 inches to short. But all in all very cool video about the Baler.
When do you all typically start cutting hay in NJ? Here in Texas I like to get my first one done before or at Memorial day, although it's not very good but cutting it that early makes the second cutting much better. At least it seems that way to me.
just a quick question for you if you had a problem with the baler and for some reason you needed to run it backwards could you use a hydraulic start and run it backwards
Hello Wes. Hope you are fine after 7 years. I am thinking of buying the new gen big pack for straw and alfalfa hay. I notice that your baler doesnt have a rotor like every baler. Is this an option? I believe for alfalfa that would be great because the rotor damages the leaves and you loose some of them while bailing.
Wes, I watched a video put out by Krone on 3 different balers that makes the big bales, the narrator was pronouncing the name as if the letter E was an A. Krona
Really Nice Baler! We bale roundbales with a Krone Comprima, works well! Did this baler have no flywheel brake to stop the baler faster ? Greetings from Austria
the shaft on my submarine almost ate me one day, so being around that flywheel is (& you know it) VERY DANGEROUS! ! DOES Tim have your insurance policy up to date? still Love you channel
First thing I do when I buy something, unless they feel like paying me for advertising. They would put a lic plate surround with dealer name I would tear it off in their parking lot and remove screws and plastic plugs at the house.
You know the "Worry Warts" and "Safety Nazi"s" had a stroke watching you make this video. I like the air cleaner for your compressor. It look just like the one on my zero turn.
Also the thing on top you didnt know about is the main port where all the stress readings of the baler come together and go to the computer. You will see 4 sensors on the sides of the chamber that read baler stress and feed consistency and which way you need to drive to make an even bale.
I can't wait for spring. I love watching farmers do there thing. When I was little I lived across from a older farmer and would spend alot of time there just watching and helping him. I loved it when I got to ride with him. He had a old Oliver And a small/ medium John Deere with a front loader.
So happy you've bought a Krone Wes, they are literally the Rolls-Royce of Square balers

Thank you Wes , for running the Krone bailer, very nice 👌✌👍🚜
I WATCHED ALL OF YOUR KRONE VIDIEOS LOOK LIKE A EXCELLENT BAILER FOR YEARS TO COME
Very cool. Thank you for your bravery on getting on top of the big Krone and making a cool video.
Nice bit of kit, looks built to last which is rare in this day and age.
Glad that latch was a simple fix. Very interesting video. I have never seen how those work.
hi we just had a contractor with the same baler come and bale our grass seed straw. these things are impressive. you won't be disappointed
One badass machine, cant wait to see it in the field.
I'm glad you mentioned the hand break at the end of the vid. That thought had entered my mind!
Great video Wes, can't wait to see the bailer in action making bails.
looking forward to the new repair videos. :) always fun and educational.
Very interesting video to watch, especially as an engineering student. Amazing how many different systems and mechanisms are packed into that thing
Just love your videos watched all of them.
Subscriber from South Africa (Thumbs up)
Absolutely looking forward to summer!!
Awesome machine, heavy duty.
That baler does more than lend a hand to work your land that bad boy is an army of hands very impressive $$$$$$$
So cool to watch! Great job
Great video. Thanks for making it.
awesome video always interesting to see how things work
absolutely fascinating! love to see it work the fields...
The rollers in the feeder are lubed by the auto lube pump. There are lube fittings that need to be lubed using a needle on those rollers. I'd check those rollers daily and make sure they all have grease getting to them.
Pretty frickin awesome Wes.
very interesting machine.... no wonder its expensive ! that plunger is massive
I think it's about time for some winter bailing. We all loved those videos and we know you enjoyed bailing in the winter.
+Andy Kinker Just a question as I'm not a farmer..............

Cool vid. The 8120 sounds great!
From all the information I found on their balers . like Cousin Vinny said I'm sure you will be more than satisfied.
love it cant, wait to see it action.
Suggestion: Paint that brake handle bright red or fluorescent orange so it's easily identified. If someone has to shut it down quickly it isn't something you want them to be searching for.
Great video, not being a farmer I found it very interesting..Thanks
Great video Wes
cool machine....nice new toy
Awesome ! I like your new baby too :-)
Very cool demonstration wes. I must admit its looked a little scary from the cameras perspective staring down at certain death but you know what you're doing. I was wondering about a braking system and then you showed the hand brake and that was answered.
Nice to see it running
O Wes u got me excited for summer!!! I cant wait to cut rake an do some baleing o I got the summer hay bug!!
Can't wait to see in the field Wes
Calibrated Power Solutions has been tuning John Deere tractors for some time now and advertise exactly what your looking for. They have been tuning diesel pickups for many many years, I would certainly look into them Wes!
Awesome Machine !!! ( eat your heart out New Holland ) ;)
Where the tractor meets the hay! Be safe!

thanks wes i enjoyed the Video
you messed round with the knotters in last video. A good boss always blames someone else! haha
+Jesse Stuehrenberg I saw that too. LOL
yes he was mesing whit it a remember it...:))
I'm anxious to see you out bailing with this thing and see if you like it better than the others. Looks more robustly built so should bail just fine without braking down.

what a machine
frxxx awesome video
Thanks for the demo, it's great, especially risk your life to step up there to show your subs and other, much appreciated.
+Jan Kotze Jan I was very surprised at how quietly the pickup on the Krone ran at, actually the whole baler ran so smoothly I was taken back!
+Jan Kotze Jan, What do you think about the quietness of that pickup on Wes's Krone baler HUH?
+heyhey1956
It's amazingly quiet, the balance of all these moving parts are real engineering, can you think how would the baler bounce if something is not synchronized balance, for any baler but this one is so HEAVY, it makes it more special

Jesus Christ Wes, I don't think I would put my foot in this one!
I wonder if the tines are moving faster could the head be risen up a bit and achieve the same pick up as a slower one . It might have less chance of crashing into the ground
That sound at idle is you egr valve opening and is also the reason for your oil turning black.
hi, wes .that thing sounds awesome winding up ! on the tractor you could try ecotune for more hp.
gotta love the sound of that John Deere.
That was awsum I cant wait to see it in the field. Why wont anyone program the ECU? And why wont you get a used ecu? You started explaining but stopped
quite a beast
I do see on the plunger a wire or hose more going to the backside of the plunger and been pulled a bit to far so I am guessing this hose will wear out a bit to quickly watch around the 9min marker that hose going to the splitter and been stretched each push the compactor is pushing the hay together I think it's about 4-5 inches to short. that was f n cool vid, that power right thair

awesome
What’s the rule of thumb for bale flap pressure on auto for straw and cereal hay?
just a quick question for you if you had a problem with the baler and for some reason you needed to run it backwards could you use a hydraulic start and run it backwards
How does that automatic grease work. Does it just pump grease every so often or to you and to manually engage it.
WHEN THE BALER IDELS DOWN DOES IT HURT THE PTO BRAKE?
Nice baler! Hope it does the trick!
that's going to do it for ya!
that handle at the end of the vid. is that a brake and how quick could it stop the bailer
falling into that thing would be a grisly scene...
just because I am watching and; the "m" in r.p.m. isn't plural. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL
Nice vid Wes. Thanx for explaining a little about how the baler works. Are you going to get a computer with it or are you going to run it without?
Try a Steinbauer power module, they work like a charm
nice piece of German engineering, almost can't wait to see it making hay this spring/early summer
Hi i Am wondering what happened with the ecu for de 8520??
Can the swap really work??
I cant wait for you to actually use the thing
It seems like there is always 11 or 17 dislikes on your videos Wes lol great video by the way!
OK question is how many big bales do you get per one hundred acres on average
Wes, I watched a video put out by Krone on 3 different balers that makes the big bales, the narrator was pronouncing the name as if the letter E was an A. Krona
Really Nice Baler! We bale roundbales with a Krone Comprima, works well! Did this baler have no flywheel brake to stop the baler faster ? Greetings from Austria
Would you consider getting the 8120 remapped Wes?
big kid new toy :-)
how is your pto stil working without you on the seat?
the shaft on my submarine almost ate me one day, so being around that flywheel is (& you know it) VERY DANGEROUS! ! DOES Tim have your insurance policy up to date? still Love you channel
so how do you get the bale out ???
Those massive rotating arms- are they cast, solid steel?
GOPRO while running?
how long till the first bale comes out
should tear off those shitty messick's stickers and pit on your olf stickers
+BILLSTMAXX :) or give him a BILLSTMAXX sticker
First thing I do when I buy something, unless they feel like paying me for advertising. They would put a lic plate surround with dealer name I would tear it off in their parking lot and remove screws and plastic plugs at the house.
Looks like a completely different animal to the new Holland are u going cleaning out the straw? Polybands?
You know the "Worry Warts" and "Safety Nazi"s" had a stroke watching you make this video. I like the air cleaner for your compressor. It look just like the one on my zero turn.
Ye
Glad you didn't get mangled and killed.
You may have missed the first time I asked, do you still use fish emulsions for deer control? If not what are you using?
+19overlord64 I think the fish emulsion was used on the beans, which he doesn't grow any more. Deer aren't as big a problem with hay.
Also the thing on top you didnt know about is the main port where all the stress readings of the baler come together and go to the computer. You will see 4 sensors on the sides of the chamber that read baler stress and feed consistency and which way you need to drive to make an even bale.
Wrong
+Keith Jeasser why dont you tell him why hes wrong then...
+Keith Jeasser Wrong? How about I link you the page from my owners manual tomorrow.
+aleesixstring Sure kid,sure .
+Keith Jeasser again why don't you enlighten him why hes wrong...
what is a cam for
