lets unpack the world of compact photography and Videography iPhone 15pro max vs Sony Rx100 vii. #photography #camerareview #sony #sonyrx100vii #15promax #fyp
@@haon2205 Software can't make up the difference between a tiny sensor and a full frame sensor. Especially because they're always pushing megapixels. The S3 shines in low light because of the low mp density
I've had an RX100m7 for a year. Great device. I also have an iPhone 15 Pro (not Max). The Sony has what the iPhone doesn't -- real optics. Computational photography is capable of wondrous things, but (for now) phones don't have the glass and the sensor size to beat a dedicated camera under conditions that require good optics. Oversimplifying a bit, phones do on the fly what an editor does in post. At some point you've color corrected, exposure corrected, denoised, and masked/blurred your way to something that isn't what was really there. Which may still be art, but isn't what I call capturing the moment.
Most photo editing software can now do the same processing that phones do with one click of a button so, that's another bonus point for the Sony if opt to shoot in RAW
I have the rx100 m5 and it blows any phone out of the water. Of course I shoot in raw and edit my files for the best results, for normal daily shots of things any phone would be better and more convenient. But for the best images, the sony has more color depth, better color accuracy, gets a shallower depth of field, has optical zoom, can shoot 20 frames/sec I believe. You can't burst shoot in raw on a phone. Also the quality difference between focal lenghts on a phone is huge, while as on a camera there is almnost no compromise at any zoom level. Then there are other minor things like a tilting screen, an EVF when you shoot in sunlight and can't see anything on the screen, etc. The only way a phone wins is in convenience, it's always there for any moment, it's more pocketable and you can edit and post direct from it. But the best images come from physics, bigger sensors, bigger and better glass, optical zoom.
Sorry in advance for this post getting a little long...... I have an RX100 vii & an iPhone 12 Pro. Taking video inside my house after sunset using only whatever lights are part of the house, ie - not using any additional video lights, the Sony is much much better than my iPhone 12 Pro. The Sony's low light video performance is really good compared to my iPhone. This next thought is purely personal opinion - I feel like the Sony can be configured to deliver a more natural look whether taking photos or making video. I agree that a smartphone is super convenient when it comes to quick snaps, tweaking photos/videos and sharing those. Despite this, the extra time & effort to use the Sony is no big deal to me. I've been shooting with DSLR's for a long time and enjoy the experience of handling a camera. One thing that has been bugging me about the Sony is that when using the 10 second self timer to take a selfie, the Sony locks its autofocus when pressing the shutter button to initiate the timer (when I'm not yet in frame) rather than like the iPhone does - the iPhone locks autofocus at the expiration of the self timer & when taking the actual photo (and I've had time to get in frame).
In spite of its limitations I prefer to use my RX100m7.....so much so that a local store just got 3 new RX100m7's in and I picked up a second one. Enjoyed the video.
to be honest, I make sure my exposure settings iscorrect in Camera so when I’m in Lightroom, I literally just hit auto sometimes I add a retro type filter and that's it ☺️
Agreed at the same time Ai has populated the tech industry. thus our camera manufactures load there cameras with Ai that takes the nuances out of photography so now you can point and shoot. As for mobile phone you can use Ai to manipulate Photos and give you DSLR looking pictures 🤷🏾♂️
I have said and will keep saying this: Both cameras and smartphones are capable of taking photos, but smartphones capture moments while cameras create art. It's just what each is better suited for, simple as that, why force the issue saying a small sensor, fixed focal length, fixed aperture with always processed images is better than a dedicated device with a larger sensor, variable focal length, aperture and unprocessed images? Even without interchangable lenses, one is clearly better at something than the other.
I like how people compare pocket zooms to iPhones. Anything past 50mm destroys an iPhone in quality. Great vid, how did you attach the filter on the rx100?
Thank you, I really need to see this comparison at the moment. I have a Samsung S10 5G that I only picked up about 18 months ago and it has a camera and video that keeps up quite well even with newer release phones but looking for something that can go further with zoom capability and low light for if I want to get some high quality video and photo at some important concerts and my sister's university graduation. Maybe you could do some street video at different zoom range at night to compare both for me or if you go to some comedy club or music concert event yourself
1) Which is best for image quality? Sony or iPhone? 2) Which is best for videos shooting? Sony or iPhone? I am planning to buy, still confused. Please help to make a decision.
It depends on what is you ultimate goal you want a all purpose device that can do it all definitely the iphone you want dedicated Camera for pictures Sony. Or both
The images from a Sony camera are clearly superior to those from a phone. Additionally, the bulky iPhone setup is very inconvenient to carry in your pocket, especially if you're trying to take photos that are comparable in quality to those from a real camera. I have both a Sony camera and an iPhone Pro Max.
The IQ of the iPhone is incredible regarding it has such a tiny sensor. But shooting RAW with the Sony and using i.e. Adobe Camera RAW lets you do incredible thinks too with your image! Still a great sensor in 2024.
Why does everyone believe those mp numbers from smartphones ? It is always the 12 mp on EVERY smartphone , they are simply taking multiple pictures and doing a focus stack. 12x4 = 48 , 12x9=108 and so on. Then they get badly stitched together and rarely better than the standard except sometimes a bit more colour depth.
Apple has only iPhone as it's phone camera product. Definitely Apple try to squeeze everything into one. But Sony has so many camera products. Each has it's selling points. The RX100 selling point is it's pocketability. I have it in my pocket every day and I feel comfortable with it. For videos it has so many other products that is 10 bit with all the bells and whistle. I think the engineers at Sony can squeeze a 10 bit capability into th RX100 but that's not good for marketing. Why buy an A6700 or A7 or A9 while the cheaper and smaller RX100 has everything? Yes the iPhone can fit in the jeans pocket like the RX100 but the photography experience with a real camera, though smaller, can't be equalled.
Rx is using its 6 yrs old technology to compete with iphone 2023 technology. take a equal priced contemporary. cam like A6700. then compare the video. iphone will be blown into ashes.
sometimes i can be your focus settings or slow shutter speed. i always keep my iso auto and work the shutter just remember with the focal length the further you go the darker it gets. Just keep practicing👍🏾
I have recently bought rx100 m7, i think the image quality is better than any smartphone
there is no other way, phone will ever beat smartphone with one tiny lens.
@@pentagramyt417tell that to the iPhone enthusiasts . Been telling them for a decade now, they tell me , they can't tell the difference 😂
I'm looking forward to the day where any smart phone can shoot as good as the a7siii

De acuerdo, la gran diferencia esta en la optica, y esto hace la a M7 superior!
That’s one way to cope with it
Also optical zoom will always destroy a phones digital zoom in quality.

Poor inbody stabilization of the Sony makes it unusable without a gimbal, which in return will make the camera movement too robotic if you use it...
True I only use it for pictures😩
Thanks for the video. What Camera do you use for the A roll?
I use the fx30 with Sony 24mm F1.4 gm black pro mist filter 1/8

Great video and comparison but tone down the background music. I like hearing your voice, not the music.
No, leave the music please. It's quiet enough, not intrusive and fits the video perfectly, thanks.
Perfect video, bro. Solid comparison all around!!
iPhone have better video but Sony have better pics but at this price point I think the iPhone is better bc its multifunctional
that's how comparison should be made! very useful:)
How did you edit the Sony RX100 vii pictures? With a Lightroom Preset? The colors looking really good!

This was the deciding factor for me to get the sony. What a great video, thank you!
If you’re really into photography, computational photography is not a professional look. It’s not pure. There is a difference.

Hello from Russia! Very nice person and review!
What the filter brand and sizes you have on the rx 100 vii
I use K&F Concept 52mm Variable ND Filter ND2-ND32 Camera Lens Filter (1-5 Stops) a.co/d/eLkdEGi
To me the Sony images look more natural in all shots other than the 24mm ones
