Got so excited hearing and seeing all the all time greats come out. I've seen compilations, stones and chuck berry, which the one I was looking for but this is on another level. Chillin in the background is my all time great ray Charles?
Quel plateau incroyable tous la hélas beaucoup ont disparus une chance d ètre tomber sur cette vidéo. Merci eux pour cette prestation grandiose et géniale.
The stage looks like a bus station... and Lord! what a bus station!!! I always miss the really Good shows. Thanks for sharing this John, it's a beautiful thing!
good lord!!!!!!! i can't be grateful enough for watching all the gods in the rock n roll pantheon jammin together like its f$&$%&in judgement daayyyyy!!!!!!!!! thank u so much for this vision o rock heaven!!!!!!!!
This was a once in a lifetime experience. To have THIS many stars on stage closing out a show, not trying to show each other up but actually having a damn good time feeling the music as well.....i envy every one that was there for what they witnessed WILL NEVER EVER BE SEEN AGAIN IN ANY LIFETIME!!!
WOW !!!! No words to describe this !!! Unfortunately I can only wish to see this show live again today. How I wish we still have this today.... Thanks for sharing this work of art!
These people make sunshine on a rainy day a lot of the people who are up on that stage are gone now but I thank them for making the world a better place before they left -if you didn't live in that era which was the best 1 ever I'm sorry you missed it
James Brown , BB King , Jerry Lee Levis , Little Richard !!! On croit rêver ! Je ne savais pas que ces monstres sacrés du jazz et du blues avaient pu jouer ensemble un jour ! Qu'elle affiche ! Et ce sourire de Ray Charles visiblement conscient de vivre et de participer à un moment exceptionnel ! Chapeau bas !
Very possibly the best rock n' roll ever performed anywhere. In 1988, the date of the concert, these folks were all past the peaks of their careers, but they sure lit up the skies one more time. I have a million favorite moments. But one of them is Bo Diddley giving up on playing and singing at the towards the end, and just BOOGYING. He knew that this was it, and there would never be a moment like this again.
What is really amazing how Dave Edmunds got those spectacular guys find each other in a fantastic mood to produce music with no kind of envy. All of them let their egos down.
I love how they all have a mutual respect for each other...no one person is trying to out shine the other and they are just having a great time. I wish music now a days could be this fun
SAM...That's so true...But the "so called pop singers" have no idea what the hell you're talkin about!! "They have no concept...[nice teeth, flat stomachs...big busts...and that's about it]. The promoters are makin it big, on the backs of very low talented people...That's LIFE, I guess. So glad I was born in 1938...seen the best, I reckon...even re-cap movies of singers and dancers....Fred Astaire +.+++...The "performers" these days were "in the right place...at the right time" for sure...sad for us "Oldies", but what the hell LOL!! :)
You couldn't put a band like this together these days. Big egos, now. These guys just played-- and tore the pace down when they did. A time gone by, never to be lived again...
So very, very true. Today we'd have major egos, jockeying for the best position, it'd be contract discussions lasting years and nobody would do it for less than million dollars......
I agree with Toni Duckworth, this is an amazing video but to see so many of the dear ones that are no longer with us... bless their hearts and I am just so grateful they were with us for a short while.... thank God we've got this kind of music.
Had to be the greatest group of Rock n Rollers to ever be on stage at the same time, my favorite of course is the King of Rock n Roll, the great Little Richard, love him .... Peace
@1510Ronald You are so right. I'm 60 years old, and saw almost everybody at one time or another. This performance is the ABSOLUTE PEAK of rock n' roll. Martha High, the great blonde singer) sings at 6:28, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. She was "backup" for James Brown for many, many years. "If you don't know by now, don't mess with it". -- R. Crumb's Mr. Natural, ca. 1968.
Tell your story again in 10 years. Remember that these musicians are still gaining momentum after 40 and 50 years. This was an era that may never be repeated.
It doesn't get any better than this! Rock and roll royalty! This will be the dance band in heaven when Chuck Berry, Elvis and Carl Perkins joins them! Thanks for posting!
I'm literally DAZZLED by how many STARS of the late 20th century Music Firmament are sharing such a small stage!!!😲😲😲...my eyes...and belief...CAN HARDLY TAKE IT!!!....💝💝💝💝💝💝
So many greats! Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Fats Domino, James Brown, Bo Diddley. Every one of these guys contributed so much to music, it's crazy!!
This is an incredible jam session with the greats from the 50s and later. You cannot sit still when they are playing. Thanks for this post. Don't ever take it away.
James Brown tried to keep it cool but you know he wanted to keep it going too! Thanks Jerry Lee Lewis for being so hard headed! You created one of the best rock n roll icon videos EVER!!!!!
@@johns.8082 Thanks. Not a name l know, as an Aussie, but thanks for your acknowledgement of her and her sisters. And thanks for bringing me back to this video. It has to be one of the all time best JAMS on record. Chuck and Billy Preston would have topped it off.
I have actually danced to both Bo Diddley and Little Richard in small night club and may I say not in a large concert hall. What an unforgetable moment. When you dance to these artists in a small night club this is the way this music should really be enjoyed.
I would love to sit down for an hour and talk to anybody that attended that legendary jam session with so many true music legends on the same stage at the same time. Oh, what it must have been like to be there!
Man....what I wouldn't have given to have been there. My goodness, the musical history on that stage that will all be gone in a few more years. At least we have recordings like this.
I just saw this and i can't believe what my eyes are seeing the fact that all these legends got together and performed on the same stage. What I wouldn't do to travel back in time and be there. RIP REAL MUSIC
Wow just seriously wow. What a time to of been alive and seen this concert. Is it even possible to have that many legends on stage. I would love to hear from someone who was there.
everyone of the ppl on that stage are the architects of every genre of music we listen to today..ROCK N ROLL..COUNTRY..METAL.. HIPHOP..WOW WOW WOW..ALL ON ONE DAMN STAGE..INCREDUBLE

My All Time Favorite UT video. Love It, Love it!! Would be nice if Jerry Lee could get his friends together to put on a similar show, preferably in Madison Square Garden, with a Times Square and Pay-for-View TV simulcast. Those folks could sure use a helping hand. GO FOR IT GUYS, C'MON!!!
The Legends on one stage. WOW. We were blessed to have this kind of talent and great music in our lifetime. It will never repeat. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL MUSIC AND SONG.
A cocophony, hysterical but historical. LOL, I love it. These huge collective jams have a place in the catalog, but it's more party than performance..yet..it is impoossible not to wish you had been there. Absolutely love it.
Yeah, music history togedther in Rome, italy. I remeber when my brother Little Richartd did this show with all this ammazing talent on stage. Yeah! and Yeah again!

Imagine the price of a show like this now.
Takes me back to my wonderful city of New Orleans....late 50-60 .. these Stars were there often performing ...saw them many times..
What is really amazing how Dave Edmunds got those spectacular guys find each other in a fantastic mood to produce music with no kind of envy. All of them let their egos down.

THESE ARE REAL MUSICIANS COMPARED TO WHAT THEY CALL MUSIC TODAY.
This is classic
You can bet they'd had their squabbles in times past. Jerry and Richard especially. Fascinating to see them all up there together.
Me too

Got that soy boy?
