This amazing concert brings together some of the true pioneers of rock 'n' roll music including Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, James Brown, Fats Domino and B.B.King. Recorded in Italy in 1989 it features these legendary artists in performance of their best loved tracks such as Papa's Got A Brand New Bag, Bo Diddley, Great Balls Of Fire, Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On and Blueberry Hill. At the end of the concert all the performers come together for all-star jam that leaves the audience hollering for more. It's a rare event indeed that brings so many great live performers together on one bill and this DVD captures the real excitement of the evening.

I was truly OVERCOME by emotion when my idol, the REAL king of rock and roll, Little Richard, took the stage.
He was the only one who invented rock and roll. All we have left are videos. Sad, His last words were “receive Jesus.” He said it several times he knew his time was very short and he had pain.

I saw Little Richard in Beaumont Texas in the late sixties..he sang for two hours, played and danced..then we learned he had just spent two hours playing at a black club called The Raven before he got with us..he claimed he was hoarse from a cold...but he had sung his heart out all night..

I saw Little Richard with Billy Preston in his backing band and Sam Cooke as support act in London 1962.They had to use 200 police with dogs to make us leave the theatre after one the greatest shows ever seen in England.

Then, "Little Richard's Boogie," on Peacock, a modest hit. B - 4 Specialty. Sort of contemporaries! Fats had hits before Richard did, of course, though, "Ain't That A Shame," was the first to, `Go Pop!'

Of all the great...and I mean great...black entertainers from back in the day, Little Richard was my favorite. Stevie Wonder's I Just Called Was To Say I Love You was my favorite love song, Fats Domino had many, many great hit songs, et cetera, but Little Richard was the most fun and always made his audience Happy. His every song...not most, not some...but every one of Little Richard's songs excited the hell out of me. I sincerely hope he's doing well, and I wish him the best. I was fortunate to see Elvis at Madison Square Garden in, I believe, the early 70's, the supposed "King of Rock and Roll. I was not impressed. But in the 60's, when I first saw Little Richard perform (I saw him in concert three times), I immediately crowned HIM king. The "Originator," the person who did more to advance integration than ANY other performer. I cried when he died. And I'll be 80 at the end of 2024. And I still cried when I saw him come on stage now.
