  • The Velineon 3500, and 540XL are very similar, and easy to rebuild. When using electrical cleaner make sure to wear eye protection, and gloves. The chemicals can possibly cause skin irritation, and you don’t want chemicals splashing into your eyes. Make sure the cleaner you choose to use is non flammable, drys clean with no residue, and is safe for electronics.

    Thanks for this. I will be paying closer attention to motor maintenance. You taught me something new. Seems like a fairly simple process. I imagine brushed motors are more involved?

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  3 месяца назад +2

      I haven’t had to rebuild a brushed motor, never seen one rebuilt. But the brushless is fairly simple. I rebuild them once a year, unless I feel like it did a lot of bashing or ran it in water (rain).

    I have one other tip when doing this. If you spray WD-40 or even motor spray on the bearings it will pull out the lubrication of the bearings. However, you re-apply lubrication to the bearings it will be okay.

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  3 месяца назад +3

      That’s a great tip for people, I mention that awhile ago. WD-40 is NOT a lubricant. 3 In One oil is also great for RC bearings. Great advice

    Unfortunately we had to do this rebuild on the 3500 of my sons Slash, just after 1,5 month already. Also there the rotor was damaged just like you showed for your Maxx. I found this very unsettling for a car which is not bashed with really. Our hobbyshop after somewhat talking wants to sent it to traxxas, hopefully they will just replace it. For now the rebuild kit does its job, but this is not a suitable long term solution when your rotor is damaged I think.

      We sent our damaged motor to TRAXXAS, even though it was six months out of warranty they replaced it anyways. You never know what they might replace for free so it’s worth sending in. Even if they don’t replace it for free, you’ll get a discount on a brand new motor so I would definitely send it in.

    Hello! You have a video of Nitro Maintenance with Revo 3.3. Are you cleaning a one way bearing? And if so, how often? I was told that it loses its grip if it is not cleaned periodically

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  3 месяца назад

      Remove the one way bearing, clean with electric motor cleaner (denatured alcohol, CRC electric cleaner, WD-40 Electric cleaner). Lubricant the bearing with something like 5w30 motor oil, Mobile 1 is good. I’d say clean it every few months. Also depends how much you run the truck. Traxxas recommends waiting till it locks up, or you have issues starting the truck…..obviously that’s bad advice.

      Every few months? I'm really concerned about how often it needs to be done. The Traxxas online support person told me that every few times would be good. The fact is that I just recently had this whole one-way bearing system fail on my hsp backwash, vx 18 engine because replacing the bearing did not help make the clutch. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that I burned about 500-700 milliliters of fuel on it. That is, not even a liter. I'm buying slayer, but I really want to know how often to do it. Sorry for my English if there are mistakes

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  3 месяца назад

      @@reaklyf3451 You can ask Traxxas multiple times, and get multiple answers. The main reason for servicing is build up of dirt, fuel, oils on the bearing. If you keep the car clean, then I would service it once in awhile. Your English is fine no worries
