Girl, you ain’t lying! I moved to Covington from Detroit. I was almost homeless within 6 months. I was able to work it out, but it was definitely a shock 😮
I lived in Detroit for 3 years, Lafayette Pavilion Apartments downtown. I was almost homeless within 1 year due to dating a woman I met at the DMC (Detroit Medical Center) who turned out to be a con artist/scammer. She stole all of the money out of my bank account, which included my rent money.
I'm a Georgia native but I live in South GA about 3½ hours South of Atlanta. PURE COUNTRY! lol I've contemplated several times about renting my townhome out & moving to Atlanta just for a change but that traffic & rent prices change my mind chile! I'll just hit 75 & visit lol I literally live 2 miles from my job that takes me less than 8 minutes to get to and my $945 mortgage on the good side of town is much more doable than $1300+ rent and I'm not trying to have a roommate at my big old age of 35 lol
So glad I live in south GA! #229!!! Close to Tallahassee and Jacksonville. Close to the beaches. 3 hours to visit Atlanta. There's sooooo many beautiful cities and towns to consider in GA! Middle GA is vastly booming too!!
I’m from the 912 and moved to the ATL 9 years ago. I lived here in the late 80’s as a kid for about 3 years and so much has changed. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot that I like about living here but the older I’m getting I be wanting to move back down to the 912 so bad sometimes.. 😂😂😂..
Excellent analysis of the city! Not one lie told! From gentrification and all these apartments going up for the millions on the way, to the men loving more natural beauty! Great job! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

I moved to ATL in the late 1980’s. The change is real and it’s the New York of the south. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. Look up cost of living calculators to compare where you currently live to living in Atlanta. I love living here, but I’m educated, purchased a move in ready foreclosure and work in IT. Cities with no state tax have high property taxes and higher insurance cost so it evens out. Plus state taxes are low and you get most of it back when you file your taxes.
I moved to Atlanta in 96 -husband and I were 25 -although then there was no social media everybody knew Atlanta was the city for movers and shakers, Freaknik, the party scene, the malls, the jobs it was the place to be for young, aspiring adults. It has definitely changed! People now ( the younger people ) are pretentious, reality show followers, scam artists, it’s just a whole lot of ra-ra and fu-fu. I can’t stand it now. Traffic has always been bad and getting worse! Let’s not talk about rent -the video host is so right I’m a real estate agent here (seems like everybody in the whole city is lol) and it’s so challenging to help clients find a place to live, especially those renters with challenged credit. I’m looking towards moving to Dacula, Buford or buying some land building somewhere way outside the city myself.
Restaurant, bar lounges are in multitude out here. Those are the best vibes to me. Most of the time you not paying crazy prices for parking or entry. Best place to meet singles? Gym classes, networking events, restaurants, rooftops, some lounges. Strip clubs? Unless you ready to spend 100 to 150 before you get in, plus a couple stacks inside? Don't go. Traffic a bih errrrwhere, get ready to chill in your car for a while unless it's vamp hours or a wreck or construction. Alot of crabs in a barrel out here, but if you get around good people and have your head on straight, you should be good. Crime everywhere and in everything, so stay on your toes, head on a swivel, keep it pushing.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾Yall welcome.
I think the interesting perspective is that most natives keep telling people not to move here but the city officials are continuously looking for ways to bring more industries to the state which would mean the point is to attract people to the city.
@@jhndxtr9249 there are jobs in atl just not in ur expertise but in my expertise there a plenty of jobs. Also, yall got tricked by the democrats the Great Replacement Theory is on (black blue collar workers will be replaced by Latino) 😂😂. Told folks to vote trump
What a Sweetheart! She's too nice to say it, so allow me, PLEASE STAY WHERE YOU AT. ATL is not all that it's hyped up to be and we are over compacitated; not full we're over the compacity limit
I'm not 100% about Atlanta per se but there was an announcement about 2 weeks ago saying that there's over $150,000 jobs across America and none of them are interested in hiring black help they are looking at the migrants also all of these homes you may see that are for rent those are being reserved for migrants foreigners at this point black people need to learn how to live off of their own dollar
Great video! Thanks for keeping it real about Atlanta. My brother is a military veteran, and just brought a townhouse in Atlanta. Everything you said about Atlanta is basically what he said. The costs are insane!
We don't care about taxes... If you not in Fulton or parts of Dekalb or you outside of 285 then you not in Atlanta. Cheapest place to stay is the southside, I said cheapest not safest. Overpay in Buckhead if you want that's north of the city but it ain't "safe" there either. And stay out the club once you move here that's for the tourists.
The city isn't full, ppl leaving Atlanta so fast. It's not popping if you're not down for the fast life, conning and quick hook-ups. Move to Atlanta if you want too. You're placing yourself in a prison cell without the poles. I ran from this place, remind me of Cincinnati, Ohio. Oh don't forget All the demons in the flesh. Don't forget your holy oil, splash dont smash. 💯🤣😭
Also a lot of ppl in atl I notice are shady & crafty. Fake popular, fake rich also. Read between them lines and don’t get caught up in nothing or something! Haha
I live in ga and I just always saw Atlanta as boring. I’m born and raised here so I’m not a hater that is just coming to criticize. I just saw it when I was young as boring and wanted to live in nyc or something. Now…Im cool with ga as a whole. But ga is not fun a lot of times unless you go to something like savannah. It blows my mind that people from cali and ny and such are moving here.
i’m from chicago and been to atlanta a few times, i tell people all the time atlanta is really not all that and maybe its because im from Chicago, the only 3 things i feel like atlanta have on Chicago is the weather, the traffic is not as bad and more black folks per capita, outside of that i will take chicago any day cuz Chicago got way more opportunities, way more money, way more diversity, just as many beautiful people if not more, less homo’s in yo face, way more to do than just hookah and clubs, way more affordable housing, way more shopping centers. but yes Chicago has way more crime
Well i don't plan in moving to ATL but I'm always down to visit. But while you're talking about furniture, I've been waiting for you to LINK your couch because i want that same one 🤞🏾
I lived in Atlanta all my life, I love Atlanta live right across the street from GWCC / MERCEDES BENZ STATION I guess I am use to riding Marta, going places but true don't go to perimeter mall, West end mall, hood is everywhere but God protects me so yeah don't move here cause no we packed
Hi Asha - new to your channel. Literally happened upon this via the algorithm. Liked, cause always down to support a fellow ATLien, and I gotta speak on a few things - respectfully. I am speaking for myself and not my channel -ONYXCON. I am a Peyton Forrest, SW Middle School, and MAYS HIGH SCHOOL graduate! I am old enough yo remember Richway and Service Merchandise on Old Nat’! I have lived from College Park to Fairburn and beyond. I know you were generalizing and to that degree it’s all true on how far too many black folks think when it comes to what is and is not ATL. I like to say that ATL is a spirit- a vibe. It’s not a voting zone, police zones, etc because pending the election season - ALL of that can change GERRYMANDERING. GENTRIFICATION, etc. You know. Anywhere that gets water from Lake Lanier IS ATL. That’s how raw I go on that topic. Those of us from ATL as you said know better and live OTP on purpose cause ITP is extra money for no reason other than Hype! Now I aint a club type so everything you said there I still know to be true and they can have all that hookah, liquor, and sections. I come from an era of actual DANCING at a ‘club’. So the one thing I will add is Park festivals and events for folks who like to dance. See my HOUSE IN THE PARK 2023 video for an example. Ultimately you told no lies about the obsession with lashes, caked on makeup, and fake hair - this why I rarely date local or even American ladies anymore. I’m tired. LOL. I prefer real hair and real attitudes not imitations of the City Girls and other ratchet rappers. But you aint lied at all. All sadly truth for the general population and ways. But again that’s if you only rate life on clubbing, club to the church ( nope I aint religious) ,ordering all meals / can’t cook, eating out all the tine, drinking and smoking hard, outfits with high cost, etc etc. That is all so typical. Now …if you like The outdoors, travel on a budget for culture and fun, the Arts, etc = there is another Atlanta and another world. And thank you for the reality check you shared for the lack of job security and the Mansion to house to Apartment breakdown for all the implant ballers that come to ATL and lose it all. Well said! Salute
And if you pay 1200-1400$ per month in rent, the apts are old, roaches, pipes keep busting. It's horrible. Nothing is safe I. Atlanta. You can live in a gated community and wake up to see everyone's car window busted out. Stay away from Buckhead. Don't believe the hype.
Just a suggestion, if you decide to move here and you’re looking for nice homes, I would say the Lithonia/Stonecrest area and Conyers and a nice brunch spot is 2 Eggs in Conyers.
im a tattoo artist and im currently planning a move to the city to provide my skills - this video was informative - you got my sub and like - a fine Cherokee woman
😂😂😂 I feel ya! Ive been here my whole life too, if you need some info. I've got my wine. And can I just say, please don't move here! We are filled up! No more room! Unless you got a helicopter 🚁 and don't take my job, and don't close my road if you are an actor 😂
Never move anywhere without a job, a plan and some savings. You need a reliable car on good tires! Insurance is high based on your driving record and where you live. Keep in mind the minimum wage here is just below $8!!! You’re competing with transplants and locals for jobs. Come correct and level up in your industry. And improve your skills including image and speech.
Insurance is also based on your zipcode....my driving record is excellent but because their are alot of "luxury cars", which I don't have, Insurance is high! Insurance went up for Georgia.
I was born and raised in Atlanta and the first thing that is funny to me is people arguing over what’s Atlanta,as it was when I was a kid it is Fulton and the five surrounding counties, now people can be possessive about it but, stop tripping,as she mentioned about Clayton County (Clayco) is not Atlanta so tell me where is Atlanta airport located….that’s right Clayton County so, it’s Atlanta dammit😂,the gentrification in Atlanta started when the mayor shut down the housing projects,I grew up in the Kirkwood Neighborhood, that was considered Atlanta, on second Ave once was patrolled by Atlanta police on one corner, dekalb on another,Decatur, and Fulton on the other,so there you go,everywhere has crime but the most crime in any city is on MLK Jr (so much violence for a person who stood for non violence) my late wife comment once where are all these people coming from,I told her they all can’t live in buckhead, when people start talking about relationships, women and men have too many demands,my wife passed this year and I not looking anyone, got my own home, also on property in east part of the state, one thing people have to understand is people who have money is not going to flaunt it wearing gucci sliders, tee shirts, etc.I’m not into sponsoring a woman period if I ask you to go out,I got you all the way,but don’t start asking for car, jewelry,or other expensive items
Asha can u help me get a woman? im 38 black man from ft lauderdale florida and ive struggled with women all my life. whenever i tell women that im not a thug and i dont sell drugs they seem to get offended. and im talking about women who are successful nurses or own properties. and i would never think that those kind of women would be turned off by someone who is not into the street life. im just so tired of rejection, and being laughed at. ive been locked in my house going on 2 years now because im embarrassed to step back out n public around women. women have brought my self esteem down and i need someone to like me
I moved to Ga in the 80s I grew up in Marietta I lived in Bowen Homes off Bankhead lived in Peachtree City now in South Fulton Campbelton Rd I’ve seen a lot living on Bankhead Hwy Campbelton Rd is quite for the most part
My sister brought a house north of ATL way out she doesn't like going into Atlanta Lol wow things have so changed far dating & clubbing 90s 2000s was my time not born in the 90s meaning l was a baby lol my clubbing dating dates sooooo different
I like you! Good vibes ☺️ this video was so true. Literally living in Atl n the city lol 😅 idk sometimes… but you gon need the money 💵…. 🗣️🗣️ walk wid da!!
It almost seem like....Atlanta is more than a city...its a entity. A culture inside of culture...and it has that "members only jacket" feel to it. Ill take a small city any day over the A...
Yeah pretty much but it all depends on who/what you surround yourself with. I’m 23 and moved from the north east a year ago and I just wanted a space where young black people are doing better and now I’m advancing my career here. Here in metro Atlanta it’s chill, normal. I only go to Atl to go to bars when I wanna go out. Other than that I’m not trying to get into celebrity spaces, act like I’m something I’m not, buying expensive clothes, etc… everyone isn’t meant to “fit in” and that’s ok.
I only visit Atl for sporting events..was up there this past weekend for ga/clemson game..Sunday morning I was outta there..Just like you said..to much hustling going on for me..everybody wanna be in a benz or beamer..but can't keep there lights on..
I’m on my bully. School work and looking to start my business. Next 5 years I’m locked in. God would have to either restore my marriage or reveal a woman sent for me. I’m not paying no woman’s way or spending a 10 piece.
Question. So many comments from me lol. But very interesting video. I did watch. At 38:00 , getting play is one thing. But has anyone explored the concept of keeping a king or getting a king to see one’s value and make it real? How does that work in Atlanta or does it not mostly?
Your honesty means a lot. People need to know the truth about Atlanta. And like you said.... The City is FULL!

I said oh hell no let me stay in my tax free state 😂
Cities with no state tax have high property taxes and higher insurance cost so it evens out. Plus state taxes are low and you get most of it back when you file your taxes.

Lol 😂 what happened! 😭
Currently in arizona paying 1700 for a 5 bedroom house with a pool....atlanta is being exploited to the max.

Wow

33:54 Also keep in mind the car insurance is astronomical!! 🤦🏽♀️
Yep..all the New York drivers moved here.
Maneeeeee🗣️🗣️🗣️😂😂
Because they can’t drive
I live here and sis is absolutely telling it like it is. She’s spot on.
Thank you so much
I think the interesting perspective is that most natives keep telling people not to move here but the city officials are continuously looking for ways to bring more industries to the state which would mean the point is to attract people to the city.
I almost moved to Atlanta but ended up moving to Houston instead because it’s more jobs
Depends on ur industry. Houston definitely doesn’t have more jobs in STEM or Business compared to the Atlanta.
@@beats4life971 Dallas has them , but I’m in the chemical / oil & gas industry, Houston is huge on that
It’s definitely no jobs in Atlanta
@@jhndxtr9249 that’s why everybody scam out there 😂

@@PastorK94 😂 Yep! Takes 30 min to go 4 miles down the road!
Moved from dc with a career that allowed me to get an Atlanta job with a DC Salary. Atl is def a come up if you are in the correct career.
Haha
That's the young folks in their 20s and early30s wanting to be like us older folks with plenty money.

@@sodevine5482nope don’t do that, it’s locals too. Stop lying.

It is boring
It looks ran down and ugly views
i’m from chicago and been to atlanta a few times, i tell people all the time atlanta is really not all that and maybe its because im from Chicago, the only 3 things i feel like atlanta have on Chicago is the weather, the traffic is not as bad and more black folks per capita, outside of that i will take chicago any day cuz Chicago got way more opportunities, way more money, way more diversity, just as many beautiful people if not more, less homo’s in yo face, way more to do than just hookah and clubs, way more affordable housing, way more shopping centers. but yes Chicago has way more crime
Cap
Yea I'm not from the South, and Atlanta has never impressed me. Atlanta ain't shit, plus most of the rappers from Atlanta can't rap for shit.
Chicago got a better train & transportation system. Definitely bigger city vibes & more walkable compared to ATL
@@purefrequencies4696Chicago is definitely the 2nd largest city in the US I would hope they have some of the things mentioned lol
Illinois is cheaper than Georgia. The crime in Georgia is wild random acts.
Well i don't plan in moving to ATL but I'm always down to visit. But while you're talking about furniture, I've been waiting for you to LINK your couch because i want that same one 🤞🏾

Don’t worry, Atl is about to be the “black Mecca that could’ve been”
If Atlanta PD don’t respond to your 911 phone calls or you don’t stay in a zone you don’t stay in Atlanta plain and simple 💯
The best thing about Atlanta is the International Airport, to catch direct flights to leave.
😂😂
Keep your head on a swivel after dark inside the perimeter. Keep in mind the Bloods are very active in the Southwest area of the city.
Things have changed. If you want a tech job you want to be in Sandy Springs and north of it. One of the Tech alleys is off of 400.

Well said! Salute
She called Uncle Sam Uncle Tom🤣😆🤣😭 I fell off the bed laughing 🤣
And if you pay 1200-1400$ per month in rent, the apts are old, roaches, pipes keep busting. It's horrible. Nothing is safe I. Atlanta. You can live in a gated community and wake up to see everyone's car window busted out. Stay away from Buckhead. Don't believe the hype.
You are absolutely on point😂
I agree to everything your saying but at this point every state rent is soooo high it’s sad I love your vibes and videos btw 🥰
Just a suggestion, if you decide to move here and you’re looking for nice homes, I would say the Lithonia/Stonecrest area and Conyers and a nice brunch spot is 2 Eggs in Conyers.
Yeah but Jobs in that area…Also, it’s a lot of ghetto people there acting like they got it together… the men there living a triple life.
Unless you fully retired and happily okay with being single/ gay/ nah….. the one club of only 2 there had nothing but women there.
im a tattoo artist and im currently planning a move to the city to provide my skills - this video was informative - you got my sub and like - a fine Cherokee woman

Insurance is high based on all that theft 😂 per zip code. Driving is the least of your worries
This!!!
Insurance is also based on your zipcode....my driving record is excellent but because their are alot of "luxury cars", which I don't have, Insurance is high! Insurance went up for Georgia.

Super accurate.. Eastside Decatur here 🤚🏾🤞🏾💯
Ok. I agree with the named streets. You had me cracking up....but you are telling the truth.
I been known to stay away. Last time i seriously considered moving here was in the early 2000’s. I have to brace myself for the traffic when I visit 😅
Atlanta was just fine until everybody and they momma decided to move there. Yes, I said I’m from Atl born and raised official Grady baby we are full 💯
I don't think anyone who is not from the South wishes they were from Atlanta. People just move here because it's cheaper than where they came from
It’s 2024…who in the world still cares to move to Atlanta lol

Asha can u help me get a woman? im 38 black man from ft lauderdale florida and ive struggled with women all my life. whenever i tell women that im not a thug and i dont sell drugs they seem to get offended. and im talking about women who are successful nurses or own properties. and i would never think that those kind of women would be turned off by someone who is not into the street life. im just so tired of rejection, and being laughed at. ive been locked in my house going on 2 years now because im embarrassed to step back out n public around women. women have brought my self esteem down and i need someone to like me
