- Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco is slamming California Gov. Gavin Newsom over crime, and in particular Proposition 47, which reclassified several crime as misdemeanors. He's now trying to pass reform in the form of the Homelessness, Drug Addiction, and Theft Reduction Act.

@@TheSakufighter I know another deputy in West Hollywood and he is a good cop as is out in Riverside County. Bianco made our life very bearable during Newsom’s insane lockdowns during the Plandemic. Our sheriff went on TV the day after Governor closed everything down and stated he would instruct all his deputies to follow only the Constitution and not enforce any of Newsom’s made up rules. So actually quite a few businesses and even some restaurants operated nearly normally in the Coachella valley. Meanwhile in LA they were hassling everybody, arresting a lone paddle boarder on the ocean. Liberals are nuts! We need Conservatives to run this state like Reagan did and others. But at present you are correct it is beyond hope with this lot in charge!

I lived in Riverside County. Sheriff Chad Bianco is a GREAT sheriff. While it's practically impossible to get a CCW in Los Angeles County, if you're a law-abiding citizen in Riverside County, you can get a CCW with no problem. Sheriff Bianco is definitely a 2A Sheriff.

Sheriff Bianco has always been incredibly lenient on allowing citizens in his county to get CCW. Most in CA are very stringent with the requirements.

While I 100% agree that we need to make theft a punishable crime, the homeless issue is not solely about drug addicts, there are a lot of regular working folks who are homeless because they just couldn’t afford to pay rent. Rent in California is wild, minimum wage is $16 if you are making $16 an hour you can’t afford living expenses in California.

The issue was CA prisons were so overcrowded that the Fed Courts took over and said they amounted to cruel and unusual punishment. So this Sheriff wants to change the law back to have more felons but where are you going to put them? Is he going to raise taxes to build more prisons and hire more prison guards too?
It costs $105,000 a year to house a felon in state prison. Prop 47 was meant for property crimes to be handled in local jails not state prison which is meant for felons doing violent crimes. So as I see it, this Sheriff should be pushing for a larger jail locally so he can lock these shoplifters up in his county. Much cheaper and the proper deterrent. Instead he makes it all about Gavin Newsom. Playing politics with crime.

I’ve watched a film of San Francisco streets made in the 1950’s. Clean. No graffiti. No trash. Not a single person loitering aimlessly. There is no excuse for today’s wretched conditions. Throwing more money away (at it) isn’t the solution.
