- "twoset are using bp for success"
they don't need bp's help to be successful at all because they are already succesful themselves.
they're literally one of the biggest classical music based channel on the platform and it was also deemed impossible to get popular by making cm content in today's standards and yet they were able to do it + they don't work under any big labels & they refused to do sponsorships, they work for themselves which makes it more impressive. they are the first classical musicians to host the menuhin competition, reach a million subscribers, do a classical + comedy recital, did talks with harvard and yale, and many more.
they've been recognized by tons of world class soloists and they have a huge impact in the classical music world, literally every person in the cm community knows about them + they've made loads of viral videos already, this isn't their first taste of fame. not only that but they pretty much have a good orchestra career even before twoset, one of them even got to peform and meet obama.
just because you haven't heard of them doesn't make them successful, both bp and tsv have different brands and appeal to different audiences and alot of people are into kpop than classical music so that's why bp is more popular.

there were more than 10-30k lined up over 600 seats and that was just the first minute the tickets were released. if it wasn't for the site trafficking it would've been sold out within seconds + the concert is free anyways, it's being livestreamed here on youtube and they average around 50-60k viewers per stream and that was when they were much smaller. they wanted to sell out some tickets for some fans to experience live because they are playing on golden age strads worth 10-15 million dollars (since there's 2 it's worth 20-30 million) and being able to play in a strad is a huge honor because only musicians that are highly respected and recognized the cm community get to play it, it's not just given to some random guy who has money to afford it.

they've dissed so many people and idols and they equally diss people no matter their gender. they literally dissed henry lau, a male idol, in their recent virtual world tour by parodying his peformance as a way of showing eddy selling himself out to an agency. also they made loads of videos roasting and mocking people who butcher classical music + they've spoken out on misogyny and objectifying women before (the r21 video) and they know how unfairly women are being treated. also they have praised and respected alot of female musicians before.
they dont care about the gender, as long as they see someone doing something sacreligous relating to classical music, violin, music, etc.. it's on their sight

- it is okay to be offended by this video, everyone has different opinions and views. what is not okay is defaming twoset by spreading misinfo and harrasing them, their friends, fanpages who did nothing, and everyone they are associated with that had nothing to do with the video. i've already seen people make homophobic, racist, overall dehumanizing comments to tsv and i've seen fans getting death threats from blinks for clearing up misinformation, i already saw one post saying that they would throw tomatoes at their concert and wishing that their concert would be bomed. also comments wishing their families deaths and telling them to h@ng/k!11 themselves.

From a person who practiced 40 hours a day on the B2TSM MV:
Twoset Violin is channel that consist of the duo Brett and Eddy. They react to things related to classical music and they themselves play with orchestras.
One thing you should note is that they really do like K-pop and they have referenced certain artists in the way they performed in their recent "Pop song" called "Hit you with that Duh Duh Dum" (Obviously highlighting how they like Blackpink and Bethoven's 4th symphony)
Anyways the "Band" who made that song is called B2TSM. In reality it is a fictional band consisting 5 of the popular classical composers. (Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Bethoven) In that music video Paganini ends up making an appearance at the end showing how difficult his music is to play but how talented of a composer he is.
Then Blackpink releases their music video, Shutdown.
The fictional character Paganini reacted to that music video. He found out Blackpink sampled 2 measures of a musical piece he made called la Campanella.
(Obviously Blackpink sampling that song isn't illegal or anything since la Campanella is in the public domain and irl Paganini has been dead for many years now. Hearing la Campanella in a modern song is actually very nice to hear)
Paganini became furious. So he chose to make a distrack song to make fun of Blackpink for using his piece in one of their song.
At the end of the music video Mozart tells Paganini that if he knows that the song isn't even about him. Pretty much tells him that he shouldn't have gotten mad and made a whole distrack to something that wasn't even directed towards him XD. So he's just like, "oh"
So yeah, Brett and Eddy don't hate Blackpink or think of anything that they said in the video. It's just a big skit and a misunderstanding between the fictional characters.

My favorite thing about this video is that, if you recall to the "Paganini reacting to Shut Down by Black Pink" video, Paganini (Eddy) complained about how the original song just sampled the first two bars of his piece La Campanella, making it sound like half-finished sentences and broken machine.
Now if you listen closely to the beat of this version, you can clearly hear that not only it finishes the phrase but also adapt all the parts and techniques of the original piece instead of just the most popular/memorable melody in the first 4 bars. (I use the word adapt here because it's not exactly the same as the original due to the limitation of pop songs almost never having more than 4 chords).
This just shows how much attention Twoset put into their videos and why I love them so much. Please never change, Twoset.
Edit: I just rewatched the reaction video and realised that this version also implements all the other things like the correct key B minor, the anacrusis (the first note), etc. The more I listen to it, the more I'm made to believe that if Paganini were to live in this era, he would totally drop a sick track like this LOL.

As a fellow k-pop fan myself, I do not get how blinks took this obviously satirical musical parody so seriously. Kudos to Brett and Eddy for doing such a fantastic job at playing Paganini and Mozart and of course creating this awesome MV. Even though I have no knowledge in classical music, I can tell they worked hard on this. Before 'cancelling' anyone, have some prior knowledge on the matter. If you use a musical piece, musicians can critic you on that, simple as that. It's just my opinion. Whoever is reading this, have a great day and let's maintain peace and not be a toxic person.
Being someone who used to be in the large fandoms it boils down to the loud rotten apples and cancel culture. Anything that can be taken as a joke is twisted to be some serious offense, I left the whole community because of the constant fandom wars waged between the blinks and armys…I don’t know how bad it’s gotten but noticing that the blinks attacked a parody of a song that BP basically sampled from is equally disappointing and funny. The lack of musical knowledge these stans display for the classics is, unsurprisingly, very little.

While everyone is taking the time to defend TwoSet in response to this Blackpink drama, I want to add that one of the main reasons TwoSet is so impressive and influential is that they have taken classical music, a genre that has been rapidly losing popularity in the past few decades, and inspired so many people across the globe to rekindle a passion for classical music. They have also provided a community for those who already loved classical music.
And while Blackpink deserves credit for their success and popularity, I don't think that being more wealthy or supposedly more popular than TwoSet makes them superior musicians. It's relatively easy to gain worldwide fame and wealth performing in a genre that is already popular. Gaining worldwide recognition in a largely forgotten genre, and even rekindling a passion for that genre, is far more impressive, if you ask me. Any insults to TwoSet based on the fact Blackpink is more popular and wealthy carry no weight. Part of the reason TwoSet is not as wealthy is because they refuse sponsorships and labels. Since some of you missed it, a major theme in this video by TwoSet is criticizing musicians who sacrifice their integrity for wealth. So it doesn't make you look particularly intelligent when you insult TwoSet based on their wealth, especially when you don't understand the significance of playing a Stradivarius violin.
And lastly, you absolutely do no qualify to comment on anything related to the music industry or the status of TwoSet when you don't even know who Paganini is. It's pretty embarrassing when all these people think Eddy is Paganini. They don't even realize that their beloved band, Blackpink, used Paganini's music in their own song. Paganini still remains one of the most famous musicians and violinists. It's mostly amusing to see how so many Blackpink fans are unknowingly embarrassing themselves in some attempt to attack TwoSet. It's obvious they failed to understand most of the references in this video and that they don't know much about music history. I most certainly will not judge you for being a fan of Blackpink, or even for being insulted by this video, but I will definitely judge you if your attacks on TwoSet reveal a complete lack of understanding about the musical world, or common sense in general.

I personally believe this song speaks for the K-Pop musicians/artists instead of dissing them. We all know that the label has total control of what their artists do, while, come on, they're artists. They're musicians. Of course they want to have say on the music they're performing but in reality they dont. As a result, many of their songs sound shallow and repetitive. Imagine yourself as the artists, would you like that? They can survive so far because they have loyal fans who will support them no matter what. And this is what the industry creates.
This song is a slap to K-Pop music industry, especially the labels. They need to make a change to create more meaningful music, not simply upbeat tempo and dazzling visuals. They need to allow their artists to express their creativity and show their muse. Their artists cant say this directly to them, so this song should do.

Prime example is G-IDLE and other self produced groups. That's why their every come back is different and fresh. It's just that YG is very famous for controlling every action of their artists it's ridiculous. Kpop used to be very unique and personal, their music is not for everyone. 1.) If you haven't noticed, some of their music are SAMPLED by other musicians or even classical music. If they are so original and catchy, why do they have to take samples even from 'classical music' which is apparently irrelevant (according to society nowadays)??
2.) The reason their vocals are so strong is because their labels and industry make them work 24/7, starve them, train them every second of the day, and use intense autotune. If you haven't seen some K-POP bands being exposed for lip-syncing to their songs at real life concerts. It resonates with a large audience because there are literal microcphones, as well as having desginers dress them up to make their performance more captivating by wearing ’trendy’ and 'aesthetic' clothes. Keep in mind, 99% of what Blackpink is made out of is just how much effort the industry does to keep them in their standards. The k-pop industry is harsh
3.) The reason they have 'successfully' broken language barriers as well is because some members, if I am correct, are not all Korean (Im korean) as well as once again, having their label transcript their songs into different languages to spread across the world. Again, they have designers to style them up and create a pattern of korean fashion.
Twoset; They said it themselves. Their main goal is to bring more attention and awareness to classical music as it is basically the START of even MODERN music. This "Shut down" song wouldn't even exist without Paganini.
So in summary, those who are nice Blinks, I respect you. Please, regardless of what side you are on in this dead argument, never ever send threats and remain respectful to one another. Please 😭

To all those people who are complaining that "sold yours to your label" is apparently sl'tshaming- listen up, this song is written from the perspective of Paganini- one of the greatest classical musicians of all time- not only was he fantastic at his own craft- he loved showing off just how good his skills were, and how good he could compose- this line is a shade from his era of musicians to the problematic 21st-century music industry- it is no secret that today, most of our music is made by artists who have little to no control over their songs/music, Blackpink themselves have little creative freedom, and most of their songs are written by richer men, and our generation of musicians- most of them, anyway, are forced to starve to look attractive and sing whatever they are told to- so, Paganini refers to it as "selling out" ofcourse it is. The labels literally control and toy around musicians and musicians have to reduce/ boycott their values and musical freedom just to get recognized. So, yes, it is a shade, but not sl't shaming- "selling out/ selling yourself to the label to become famous/ get recognization" is an extremely obvious shade an orthodox classical musician (belonging from a time when musicians had to make their own living by themselves without an industry controlling them) would give. and "selling to the label" aka "selling out" has never been synonymous with "selling your body". We still use that phrase today to define an artist who wants to get famous at the expense of what they define "music" as- so I don't know how "being a sell-out" is the same as "had sex with a producer". You can't argue that Blackpink has no control over their music and they would be forced to sing words they might not agree with just becoz of the contract- it is something all musicians should fight against rather than defending such an inhumane industry.
I would have believed you if the girls were never slut shamed in the comments section. But they are. There literally are people here insinuating that they slept with Teddy and using derogatory sexual terms to link them with each other. The girls, after all their hard work and sacrifices, have been put down and insulted so much because of this video. It hurts seeing it. This video and comment section have been used as a weapon to insult these women who didn't even do anything against this channel over and over again. Worse, the guys know this will happen, but still decided to release this. That's freedom of speech and the internet for ya.
Not here to argue about the slut-shaming. Classical musicians hundreds of years ago were just as controlled or influenced by powerful monarchs and aristocrats as 21st century music is by powerful labels. Most popular musicians in any genre are "sell-outs" one way or another.
I think it's more nuanced than that. I do believe the girls are savvy business women not victims of the industry ... yet with a gender pay gap that South Korea has... it's quite an indicator of all male leadership silos ... people got to accept that in the next couple of decades the harvey weinsteins and sexism of the of the kpop industry will no doubt be exposed. All male leadership has a poor time understanding the terrible men that hide among them.
Commercial music is manufactured .... we live in an age where manufactured things are fabulous! Many art forms have that criticism of more popular forms being of lesser value. A 'serious' novelist might complain about how their publisher wants something more "mass appeal" .... this art for art's sakes verses art to suit the abbot, king, the wealthy patron, the label, the masses or even just the audience ... it's a theme that runs through the story of music since music began.
It's not an insult to say you sold yourself to a label.... all pop musicians need to follow what their brand is. Being on brand is comfortable for the consumers of the brand. I haven't had much exposure to KPop but I really liked Shut Down. Sassy girls in beautiful clothes hitting the town with their fabulous style. Heaps of fun. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed TwoSets parody as it's imitation is a form of flattery. Bridging classical and commercial music. Really enriching experience. Shame a few young people don't get it and have perceived an injustice. Their feelings are real if not understanding the whole intention of this parody. How Twoset are just all about connecting people to classical music not taking them away from music that they already love.

For those who wouldn't understand the 'Ding Ding Ding', "campanella" means "little bell" in Italian.
"La Campanella" is the nickname given to the 3rd movement of Paganini's 2nd Violin Concerto because of the little bell used in the orchestral accompaniment. The melody was later adaptated for piano by Liszt and is considered like one of the most difficult pieces to play (both on violin and piano).
Liszt was a ROCK STAR too so it seems appropriate 👍

I cannot speak to the difficulty of the piece on the violin, but in the piano repertoire, Liszt’s transcription of La Campanella is not considered one of the most difficult pieces. A lot of Liszt’s other piano works - almost a majority, I would say - are generally considered more difficult. Depending on how you count Mereaux etudes, for example, La Campanella doesn't even crack the top thousand most difficult pieces in my mind.
NGL, I love it. Would love it regardless of which band you guys parodied because this is genius. Paganini throwing smack while also saying he sold his soul to the devil. Mozart just giggling at causing chaos. It's amazing.

In TwoSet's previous video, "Paganini" hears Shut Down and feels that the song is dissing him directly and challenging his legacy/talent in classical music
Paganini being Paganini, he takes it to heart and decides to "roast" them back. In the end, Mozart explains that Shut Down isn't targeting Paganini, so Paganini walks off. If you watch the ending it makes it obvious that this entire parody & the previous video is meant to be a silly joke, not any sort of "attack" towards the group. Thanks :)

to be very clear, this is not a serious diss track to blackpink or any idol. it's a parody; it's meant to be funny (plus if i were paganini, i'd be a little frustrated that the first 2-3 measures of my virtuosic piece were the only measures used and repeated over and over in a pop song because it's the most popular and trendy part of the piece)
plus, eddy and brett are both playing roles here. it's just a musical skit that was made to poke fun at the kpop industry (and the pop music industry in general because while the industry is full of talented people, it's an absolute mess)

I know a lot of ppl made comments about this already but here's some things I wanted to say. Also anyone who wants to leave hate please don't make these stupid arguments.
I get some blinks being upset about this, but this is really just for fun - the scene at the end shows that it was because Paganini thought it was targeted at him, and just a silly way to show how Paganini would've reacted.
For the people who say that Blackpink are being represented by the four dogs - that was not Twoset's intention. Their video titled "They Tried to Cancel Our Concert" at about 4:46 shows that Eddy is genuinely confused of the dogs represent BP interpretation.
And the lyrics are "I sold my soul to the devil, you sold yours to your label" meaning BP sold their souls to their label, which is kinda true. But the point is they aren't selling themselves, they're selling their soul.
People saying they're using BP for popularity - they were already very successful before this, and really don't need BP's help to gain popularity.
Don't even try to say they're copying BP. Even if they were, it would be a parody and those happen all the time. But in this case, the song doesn't even really follow the same structure. They're using much more of La Campanella than the two bars Blackpink used. And obviously it's in b.
My kids (4&7) laugh so much at Mozart and Paganini's moves everytime they see this song. They love this one and the Duhduhduhm and request them. And they know because of B2TSM the names of the composers and how they look. Even listening to classical music is more interesting to them now.

Classical and pop are two very different genres. I think both Twoset and Blackpink are doing great in their own fields. YG first used Paganini's music in a sort-of disrespectful way that make classical musicians frown. And I'm always thankful for Twoset voicing for the rather underrepresented society of classical music lovers.

What I understand to be the plot of this video is this: Paganini hears "Shut down" and feels that the song is dissing him and challenging his position in classical music (with La Campanella and stuff), so he disses back. But in the end, Mozart explains that "Shut down" isn't targeting Paganini, so Paganini walks off disappointed. The ending makes it obvious that this parody is meant to be a joke, not an actual attack toward Blackpink.
When you use actual attacks on blackpink that have nothing to do with their sampling, your argument becomes invalid.
