There was originally going to be an actual cut-scene where you meet Ken and Gabby on the citadel before getting them back on the Normandy instead of reading the specter terminal, there would be one where you meet both engineers if you saved the entire crew and one where you meet just Ken if you only saved half the crew. In the scene where you only meet Ken, he is just a complete wreck over the fact that Gabby got melted down into raw genetic paste and he regrets never telling her how he felt towards her and is found somewhere on the citadel trying to drink his sorrows away. I say "somewhere on the citadel" because while the dialogue was recorded, there never was an actual scene where you come across the engineers. My guess if the cut-scenes actually made their way into the game, you would probably find Ken and Gabby at the Purgatory bar if you saved the entire crew, whereas if you only saved half, you would probably find Ken near the memorial wall in the refugee camp
joey13133 there is a mod that restores the scene, you meet them in Purgatory and recruit them, then you can approve their pardons from the Spectre terminal.

I know this is in 1080 pixels but this persons machine specs must be high to get the detail you can see here, I'm guessing its the PC version since graphic detail is usually better on PCs than they are on consoles since they don't have to be optimised as much.
Nobody knows. Nobody has ever chosen that. Nobody has ever considered they can actually chose that. Bioware has not even programmed any dialogue nor any animations for such an event.

Yea that was my strategy for the second playthrough. I figured Jack with loyalty and the upgrades was probably the best choice, and it worked out nicely.
You can do Legion’s loyalty mission right after Legion joins the crew. Soon after they’ll get kidnapped but you can do 1-3 missions before this happens, and I think you can do 1 or 2 missions after they are kidnapped and still keep everyone alive, but just in case I like to go launch suicide mission right after it happens. I’m not sure you can broker peace if Legion isn’t loyal.

It depends on how many missions you complete before going through the Omega IV relay. If you complete only a 1 or 2, only half the crew dies (including Kelly Chambers and Gabby). If you complete several, all of the crew except Dr. Chakwas dies. There's a pretty cool flow chart about it.
I edited one of my Mass Effect 2 saves to import into ME3 after I heard Donnelly say "I wish Gabby was here" (in Mass Effect 3). It bummed me out that much.
My thoughts on the EDI being part of the Normandy or a passenger. The Normandy is her body and her AI core is her mind/soul. If you transplanted your brain into another body somehow, you would still say that the original body was you, just as much as your new one. Same goes for EDI; she could hypothetically be transferred to another ship, but for now she is the Normandy.
Make sure all your side quests and non-essentials you want to do are completed before you go to get the Reaper IFF. You can do Legion's loyalty mission before the crew is kidnapped if you make it the first thing you do after bringing the Reaper IFF to the Normandy. As soon as the crew are taken, providing you've done everything you want to do, there's no reason not to set off through Omega 4. Doing so immediately will save Chakwas, Kelly and co, though a Horizon colonist will die instead.
After you recruit legion, you have enough time to do Legion's loyalty mission (and Tali's if you haven't done it already) before the crew gets captured.
Early in the game if you head to the Citadel in the Spectre office in the Embassies the terminal will have a entry that makes mention of the two being arrested by the Alliance choose to pardon them and they'll be assigned to the Normandy.
For any Gabby and Ken fans out there, look for the video 'Mass Effect 3: Recruiting Gabby & Kenneth (missing scene)'. It contains the cut audio recording of Shepard finding them at a bar in the Citadel during his/her first visit and recruiting them (instead of using the Specter Terminal in the final product). It also have a very tear jerking part that shows what happens if ken survived but Gabby died in ME2. It is a shame that the developers didn't included in the game.
You got it wrong. Banter in engineering (Ken & Gabby AND Tali & Garrus) won’t trigger if you’ve got Kaidan or low standing with Ashley. And you can’t stop Garrus and Tali romance unless you’re involved with either.
i'm curious how many character pairings there are that don't involve shepard. For example I know that if you spared Ashley on virmire, in Mass Effect 3 if you aren't romancing her she hooks up with Vega in the citadel DLC.
you should be able to do legion's loyalty mission if you didn't go on a mission prior to it.. when you install the IFF you go talk with legion, he gives you the mission, you go do it... after that you get that shuttle mission animationand then you go through the relay... I've never had a single crew member lost
There is if you use save editor, otherwise it depends on your approval with Ashley so she needs to be alive and in the squad and you need her to like you.

i'm curious how many character pairings there are that don't involve shepard. For example I know that if you spared Ashley on virmire, in Mass Effect 3 if you aren't romancing her she hooks up with Vega in the citadel DLC.
you should be able to do legion's loyalty mission if you didn't go on a mission prior to it.. when you install the IFF you go talk with legion, he gives you the mission, you go do it... after that you get that shuttle mission animationand then you go through the relay... I've never had a single crew member lost
There is if you use save editor, otherwise it depends on your approval with Ashley so she needs to be alive and in the squad and you need her to like you.
