    Great and helpful details in the video. Did you make a subsequent video with actual results?

      I have not made another follow up video. However in the 2 years I have found them to be bulletproof and just keep working. The battery life is exceptional. Last me like a year. Compared to Philips Hue they are tricky to setup and get them to do what you want if you want to use them with motion sensors. As in more advanced stuff. If you are a pro you will work it out but as a beginner you would really struggle to do more then the basic setup. Overall if you have the money I would do Philips Hue every day of the week but they are double the money. However Grid connect is the best low cost option I have used. Hope this helps and sorry for the slow reply.

    I can’t find this product on the Bunnings website.
    Have you heard about Wyze smart home products? I would have preferred that Bunnings had sourced their products from them instead. Home Depot (hardware) in the US sells them in-store.
    It’s great to see a fair dinkum Australian review of smart home products.

    • @dallaswhite3256

      Michael Hughes this is a new product for Bunnings and it’s still not on the website. They are doing a smart home display rollout so I think they have done a soft launch and will have a big launch once they have finished rolling out these displays. The products are in store but scattered around.

      You prob already seen it but the Grid Connect range has grown significantly. Most stores that a smart display at the front of the store.

      You can only try. When I was researching the Grid Connect range they were new and there was no information at all so I thought I would make a video. I'm not a "RUclipsr" so they can hate all they want. It was like my first ever video. lol.

    If you don't want to use the Arlec or Tuya apps, you can flash a custom firmware on it (Tasmota) to keep it fully local and and integrate it with Home Assistant.
    See more here: templates.blakadder.com/arlec_SGS01HA.html
    It does involve quite a bit of tinkering though :P

    Hey Dallas, how's the battery life of the sensors? Also, re the Arlec Grid Connect Smart Temperature Sensor can you set up actions based on Humidity as well as Temp?

    Do the individual devices require the use of the wifi hub? As i have seen them at bunnings being sold individually and unsure if you can just sync them to your phones bluetooth?

    • @kmaidotia
      @kmaidotia 3 года назад

      You need the hub, they connect to the hub via Bluetooth, the hub then connects to your wifi

    • @dallaswhite3256

      You need the hub for the sensors. All the other products are wifi direct.

      Which I just found out after buying the Temp Sensor tonight - guess I should have read the box more carefully ;) I guess I'll have to buy the hub now ... all to turn a fan on in the laundry automatically ...

    Hey mate I'm trying to get some solid info about this b4 i go out and buy.... say I was to get a arlec hub and one of the deta grid connect inline smart switches. Do you know if I could set it up a simple scene where if the temp sensor reaches a certain temp it will tell the deta switch to turn on or off?

      Looking at the app it has this function. There is a trigger setting for when the weather changes. ie. temperature or humidity.

    Hi I’m just looking to get these to replace some other brand one I had. I was just curious what the delay was like with motion and door sensors. My current ones are about 5-10 seconds are these better? Thanks

    • @dallaswhite3256
      @dallaswhite3256  3 года назад

      I use the motion sensors to trigger both globes as well as tubes. They trigger almost instantly. Not quite as fast as the Philips Hue but you barely notice the difference. The battery life is really good too because they use the hub via Bluetooth. If it helps I use Philips Hue lights on motion sensors for all the main rooms and the Arlec lights and motion sensors for other areas like bathrooms and garage. Just because the Hue had more software options but you can’t beat Arlec for the price.

      Hey there.
      Informative video did u manage to get the garage Fluor working with the sensor?
      Would you know if you can use two sensors at the same time
      I would like to use one for a similar usage in my garage. One would be when the roller door opens and the second sensor when you walk in from my laundry.
      Many thanks for any information

    so has anyone figured out how to get a readout from the temp sensor without opening up the Gridconnect app?
    specifically have google home read it out on request, or display it on a screen?

    I can't get Alexa to recognise the motion sensor, I can set routines through Alexa for contact sensor and thermometer but not motion sensor. In grid app all is good but Aexa can't see my motion sensor. any one else have same sitch or have any luck?

    • @dallaswhite3256
      @dallaswhite3256  3 года назад

      I dont use Alexa so hard to comment but with Google you setup the sensor to control the lights in the Grid connect app. Google sees the sensors but you can only turn them on or off.

    do you find that the temperature sensor takes too long to update?

    • @dallaswhite3256
      @dallaswhite3256  4 года назад

      You can adjust the time intervals that it updates the temperature by pressing the button on the top of the unit. The quicker the update the quicker it uses the battery.

      When you pull the tab they go into like a pairing mode. There is a plus symbol to add. By memory if it stuffs up there is a reset button on most of the devices.

    Did you manage to get the Motion sensor to work?

    • @dallaswhite3256
      @dallaswhite3256  4 года назад

      Yes. I am using the motion sensor on lights. I currently have 4 motion sensors in use. One motion sensor controls 4 smart LED tubes. Another 2 sensors controlling single bulbs in the toilets and the 4th is controlling a tube and bulb in the bathroom. I am using Hue sensors for all the main lights but the Grid Connect ones are a great option for simple lights control.

      Dallas White is there a delay with that motion sensor? I bought the Kmart wifi motion sensor and it works fine just that there's around a six second delay for the motion detection to activate so I took it back

    • @Ghryst
      @Ghryst 4 года назад +1

      @@petergodward751 i set up an automation in my hallway that translates like this:
      Condition= motion detected,
      Action = switch light on.
      .
      then i made another automation like this:
      Condition = no motion detected,
      Action = set a delay (time lapse) 30sec,
      Action switch off light.
      .
      if i deactivate the "off" automation, the light does not turn off without a google home command.
      ..or you could set up a single automation for a fixed time, eg:
      Condition = Motions Detected
      Action = switch light on, set a delay (time lapse) Xsecs/mins, switch light off.

    • @Ghryst
      @Ghryst 4 года назад

      @@crispaerialimagery7633 it is quite fast, takes about 1 second to turn on the lights using a gridconnect automation..
      however i noticed that his 'ok google' command embedded in the video (audio malware alert) activated my lights a full second before his activated, so his system might be slower, or it could be the recent google home updated which sped up a few things (i cant remember exactly when that update was released, and i can see this vid is a few months old now).
