Automating my shed lights with the Grid Connect System

- This weekend I had to replace the floodlights on the front of my shed, so why not upgrade the whole system.
Fitted new 100w Pierlite floodlights and added some Grid Connect inline wifi smart switches to all the lights in the shed.
They are reasonably priced and available at Bunnings.
Great set up, starting to get into these myself. I like the lights on when coming home idea, perfect where I live.
Excellent idea 💡
That is wicked, possibilities are endless
It’s definitely getting more mainstream and affordable these days 👍🏼
hi Mate, awesome video! keep it going.
viewer from Brisabne 🙌
Thanks mate 👍🏼
I've also integrated mine with google home so I can just ask Google to open my garage door or turn each light on. Or turn all lights on. It's amazing
Does Google home talk to grid connect? Or you using a different set up?
@@justinmobrien91 Google home links with grid connect. Then your devices all show up in Google home. It does this with lots of different brands and has a good user interface
great video , you need the have the gate open for you as you drive up when the lights come on
Recently I fitted a Remootio module to the gate so yeah I can set that up now too 👍🏼
If anyone was wondering. These sound like a mechanical relay in them (not solid state). I have tested by looping the line and load active and it did not blow up. Therefore you can set these up with a “manual bypass “ like a normal light switch turning the light on and off while the smart switch can just do the timer function. Ensure you use the same phase if you have multi phase. If you don’t know what that is stop doing what you’re doing and get a sparky to help. 👍
I definitely support getting an electrician to wire them in 👍
@@Kenny_B me too. I am an electrician and if I comment on any electrical work, I say to get a sparky, and if you don’t get a mate who is “good with wires “ as the next best option. People do what they do but don’t want them to end up dead. These high cost of living times don’t help the over enthusiastic DIY’er. Be safe. 👍
are you normal??
@@snakesonn3590 Yes. Thanks for the educational response. Says a lot!
@@harley5881 you’re so welcome sweetheart
Nice set up, just looking at starting the home automation at home.
I installed a smart inline switch did you have issues getting it connected? I can’t seem to get it to pair no matter what I do cheers
What’s your thoughts on the Ryobi whipper snipper Kenny? Any good? 18v one isn’t it?
I've just setup my lights to come on at the front of the garage when I drive home but I can't seem to work out how to automatically turn them off after 10 minutes or so??
Do these also reset back to default settings each time the power goes out?? It's very annoying making these almost useless.
Have you done 2-way switching with 2x single gang switches?
Nah mate. It’s just wired in line after the normal switch.
@@Kenny_B Thanks, I just went out and brought two, I set up the automation and it works sweet as. It's for retrofitting in a house that didn't have the second switch at the top of the stairs.
Do these inline switches need a neutral?
Hey mate, it's an inline switch with all 3 wires going into it, so yeah it has a neutral.
Hey bro, might want to hide address at 7:23 the name of the scene 👍
Meh 😂 I watched the edit like 8 times and didn’t pick that up. If people wanna come round for a beer I’m ok with that 😂 🍻
OMG lol HAHAHAHA@@Kenny_B
I was gonna say the same thing, and now we know if you're home coz the lights are on when you are 😅
