that first IR photo is just too epic!
👍
8:39 looks so enjoyable! Taking in the scenes of the season.
Those are some great shots, cool song selection as well.
Thanks!
i love the experience photography brings us
and i would love to meet i bison
really enjoyed watching this
thanks so much for sharing this with us
Cool, thanks for watching! 👍
Those are some magnificent places you live nearby. Thanks for sharing!
I agree. Thanks!
I was just there this weekend. The Bison were so stinking far away most of the time. The moose were on display on Sunday though. Got some great shots
Sweet! You can't win them all...
Thanks for the video and the photos! Infrared shots are great!
Thank You
Great! I was over there during the last week of June, no funky rut behavior, but I did manage to spend some time in that same location watching slow moving beasts. Beautiful shots!
Funky is more fun to photograph for sure.
Another nice one Steve - I kind of like that IR. Might have to see about getting one of the old DSLR's done. But, of course you make it look easy.
Try it, it's always fun to try new things...
Awesome vid and photos Steve. 11:44 "I see a falling staaaarrrrrrrrrr."
Haha - is the song stuck in your head?
Unfortunately I now have that song in my head. Worth it for those shots. I think that first (wideangle?) of the sun over the mountains over the dueling bison is one of my favorite photos I've seen from you. What a neat shot. Then more good shots with the IR camera - what a clever way to take advantage of some not-great light. Neat.
Thank you 🙏
I see a falling staaaaar......
Hahaha
You should come to southern India! We have our own muscular hunk version! Just as gentle and shy!
The tourists crack me up. Great experience and video / photos!
Tourists can be very entertaining...
Entertaining. You are too kind. Stupid is more like it. If you stick around the bison jam long enough you might get a shot of a bison tossing a tourist into the air...
Beautiful ... enjoyed the laid back feel to this video, it transported me right there among the Buffalo. The misty shot toward the end was superb, I was curious what the focal lengths were for the images.
Thanks 🙏
Focal lengths were varied, I’m on the road and don’t have access to metadata so I can’t tell you exactly... sorry...
Great video mate. I miss Jackson hole
Thanks! Come back again...
Like the infrared images!
Thanks!
Cant believe how close some of those people were. Disappointing that people still havent learned to give them some space. I blame the cell phone as they have to get close for a shot now. Nice outing and video as always Steve.
But they seem so calm and gentle... 😬
Hey Steve!!
Thanks for all your awesome videos and amazing pictures!! I was wondering why you haven’t been using your D5 for quite sometime? Just wondering.
Thanks again for award wining photographs!!!
Cesar
Thanks for watching! I never owned a D5 - I used to have a D4s but ended up liking my D850 more so I sold the D4s.
Great video as usual. One of you tours is on my bucket list . What do you fill you BLUB with? Doesn't seem as heavy as it would be with beans. Also when on the bag do you have VR on or off. Thanks.
Thanks! I fill it with buckwheat hulls. Beans are way too heavy for me. Sunflower seeds are somewhere between beans and buckwheat hulls.
Great shots Steve! Considering converting my Oly OM-D E-M1 to IR, who did the conversion for you and what (nm) filter was used?
Lifepixel did the conversion. I chose the standard 720nm. Highly recommend...
Great video Steve. Will you be testing the new Nikon 500mm PF?
Absolutely.
I don’t understand why such a slow shutter speed unless you want blur please explain and thanks kelly
One of the first time I really love the infrared picture, in previous videos I wasn't always sure what to think about them, but that's my problem not yours :D this round just waaaaw :)
Haha - yes, they are 'different'. Sometimes different is better, sometimes different is worse.
Wonderful images Steve. Love the IR. And now for the big question. Have you looked at the specs for the Fuji XT3.....looks amazing and has -3EV. I think its a winner for low light, especially for photographing owls and other critters in low light. Save you're pennies ...lol...Greg
Yes it looks really great. I prefer the bigger body and the bigger buttons of the XH1 so I’ll wait for the XH2 when it comes out with all of the XT3 features... 👍
What do you fill your bag with? Buckwheat hulls? Or beans?
I fill it with buckwheat hulls. Beans are way too heavy for me. Sunflower seeds are somewhere between beans and buckwheat hulls if you want something heavier than hulls.
Hey Steve, we were just down there the last week of August (2018), did we miss the rut? We didn't see much. Great vid!
greg Botlin I know the bison rut starts in late July, and like Steve said lasts 2-3 weeks...I think I missed it too, always next year!
Yes, I think you were just a bit late.
Thanks
It will never cease to amaze me how close people get to Bison. These aren't dairy cows people!!
But they’re soooo cuuuute 😬
So glad the Bison are tame in the Park. I wouldnt want any stupid humans to get trampled!
What time of the day was this?
All day
Love the IR,would love to do a winter shoot with lotsa snow and the bison standing with breath making clouds and their black bodies against the white background.
I found those tourists most annoying.
Nice vid .
Yes - the IR makes the grass look like snow - I like it...
What did the mother Buffalo say to her oldest boy when he left home? .......................... Bye son.
yup :)
