I made 1 frrom from off white cotton (Drop Paris colour 17) with a slightly smaller hook but it was alright. Came out so sturdy and fluffy, going to give it to my mom. :) Thank you for te patter this is the first time I've crocheted in well over a decade.
I'm thrilled you gave this project a try and plan on giving it to your mom. I hope this gave you enough joy to get back into crochet and make more fun patterns! 😊🧶💖
This is a wonderful Tunisian crochet rib stitch! I think if you include the word “Tunisian” in the video title your Tunisian tutorials will come up if someone searches RUclips for Tunisian crochet tutorials 😊
I am excited to make these. I love Tunisian crocheting.. and I love making the wash rags too and this is a perfect way of using my stash cotton yarns!! Thank you for sharing ❤🧶👍🏼🥰🤠🫶🏻
Holy Cow Tiffany I have never done Tunisian crochet but you make it look easy. The purl stitch seems a bit tricky but I guess it gets easier as you go.
Hi Tiffany, I enjoy making washcloths, the only problem I have is they always seem to take too long to dry. I would love to find a weight and a texture that not only cleans, but dries fairly easily. So far I’m still looking for that wonderful combination.
Hmm, I'm wondering if the reason it takes longer to dry is the thickness of the yarn. I've seen some beautiful cotton yarn in a size 3 weight and even a size 2 weight yarn. The thinner yarn makes for some BEAUTIFUL stitches! I'm thinking that the thinner strands might dry faster because they will hold less moisture. Worth a try. 🤗💖🧶
Walmart carries a brand that is thinner and dries quicker. Little balls or cakes of peaches and crème. Much better than the old version of the same brand
Washcloths look so pretty and i love crocheting, but i cant imagine using a crocheted washcloth. Guess im just too used to the terry ones 😂 Is it used the same way?
I’m so glad you love it!! I have a link to the pattern in the description section OR you can just go to my website, CrochetWithTiffany.com, click SHOP, and patterns. You will see it right at the top. 🤗🧶💖
Hi Kathleen! This is a great question. Tunisian crochet is a little different from regular crochet. With Tunisian crochet, when we chain 35, the loop that is on your crochet hook after chaining #35 counts as the loop that would have been pulled through chain #35. So, even though we are skipping that first chain, it isn't because we don't have a loop for that chain, it's because we already have a loop for that chain. I know that might sound confusing but think of it this way. You, skip that first chain, pull up a loop from every other chain. At the end count how many loops are on your hook. You should have 35 loops on your hook. Keep this number of loops every time you cast loops on your hook and you are on track! I hope this helps! 😊💖🧶
Oh! You do a return pass where you are pulling the yarn through 2 loops on the way back. That closes off the stitches. Then when you reach the end of the row, cut your yarn leaving a tail long enough for you to weave in your ends and then pull the tail through the loop on your crochet hook to tie off and form a knot. Then all you have to do is weave in your ends and you’re done! 🤗💖🧶
@@CrochetWithTiffany thank you Tiffany 😊 I'm wondering how to close the Tunisian so it matches the beginning instead of being more open.. I hope I'm making sense.
I am making this washcloth too. And i know what you mean. I watched another you tubers video making a Tunisian washcloth and he shows you after the return pass you have to cast off. And you have to cast off according to what stitches you have. So this washcloth is simple stitch then purl stitch. So you would start off doing that simple stitch then your left off with 2 loops on your hook pull that 1st loop under that second stitch. Then you have one loop left then go to that purl stitch do the purl and when you are left with 2 loops put the first loop under the 2nd stitch. Hope I'm making sense. Kinda like slip stitching it.😊
@@melaniehall4482 , this is my 1st time with Tunisian and I don't like the gap either. You to know whose video you watched on how to cast off? I'm not following your instructions. Too new to this, lol.
Hi Karen! WELCOME! I’m so glad you said something. This is called Tunisian crochet. It’s a different category of crochet. Does NOT mean that it’s harder, just different. There are actually quite a few different categories of crochet which is fascinating! So many things to try. 🤗🧶💖

I start Tunisian with a larger hook for the chain, those are pretty.
Looks like knitting with a crochet hook . It creates a beautiful pattern
I'm making my second one. I love this pattern.
YAY!! I’m so glad!! 🤗💖🧶
I’m excited to make this! I use to use the Tunisian hook years ago. I think I have the yarn you used also. So excited!!!

Oh you've got to try it at least once! 🤗. I think they are used in the same way. 🧶💖
I love this project. How can i get a copy of the process for making?

I LOVE this! I just ordered some Tunisian hooks on Amazon. I love your videos.
AWESOME! Thank you so much! 🥰💖🧶
Can I use this pattern for a hat? I love the pattern but need to make a hat to donate. If so how would I do it?
You can absolutely use this pattern for a hat. I bet there is a video on RUclips you could find. I don't have one yet.
Wash cloth or dish cloth
Honestly, it could go either way.... Functionality of a dishcloth with the texture but could also be a washcloth because it's so soft.
❤
how do you have a starting chain of 35 stitches, skip the first stitch on second row, and still supposed to have 35 stitches?? Or should it be 34

Wait, novice here. I’ve never seen crocheting with more than one stitch on a hook at a time
