I've had to leave an amigurumi Facebook group because they kept getting so upset that my stitches were not x's and nobody would tell me how to make it "right" and they were so mean about it! I really appreciate your making this video so I can see what they were talking about.
I love this so much, as a person who has learned to crochet from videos on RUclips I lack technical knowledge. Often the “whys” of crocheting are not included in tutorials, so when I make mistakes or notice my end result doesn’t match I don’t know how to correct it.
This is a goldmine of a video. I'm new to amigurumi and I'm so thankful for four whole different side by side comparisons and step by steps. I think I'm going to try changing my method of using my tension hand to maneuver the yarn instead of turning my hook to grab it. Gonna share this with my friends. Thank you so much. Hopefully these changes will reduce the likelihood of straining my arms and hands too ❤
I’ve been using yo/yu for years and didn’t know why my projects were so tightly woven. (I love this method, BTW. It’s second nature to me now.) Thanks so much for an informative, easy to follow video.
Originally I just had this video on in the background while eating breakfast. You have such a good teaching voice and pacing though that both my husband and I stopped, grabbed some yarn, and started practicing along. 😂 Were both pretty beginner and this was super helpful
I love this video. I recently discovered that yu/yu works best for a tight amigurumi look, but find that combining yu/yo is faster with a similar tight look. Thank you for going through all the options 💜
Ok I love your video❤❤ I am leaning crochet and understanding this has been challenging, but your explanations were awesome. The speed and clarity on each stich was appreciated ans the comparison between all the types makes it clear to understand. More I watch the video more I like it. Thank you so much for it.
What informative information! I never knew or realized any of this. I've spent hours staring at my stitches, wondering what the difference is between a yo and a yu. Thank you for this video. It has amazing explanations in it! 💕💕💕
Excellent video! Thanks for putting all this information into a nice succinct package. Great explanations and perfect close-up details. I like that you went into the explanations for why the differences in the outcome of the stitch, and how that affects the working of it.
Thanks really interesting video. Like you, I crochet with yu/yo method which feels the most comfortable for me and makes stitches that look great for Amigurumi I'm making.
Thank you sooo so much. I've tried to learn the X stich and somehow ended up doing yo+yu. I didn't understand why my pieces were so rigid with V looking stiches. :D
I’m not sure how I ended up down this rabbit hole. I don’t even do amigurumi and just realized after 20 years I yarn under 😂. Sometimes I do a yarn over yarn under depending on the stitch. Just seems to flow better for me and now I’m shocked because I haven’t been “yarning over” 😂😂😂
this is the most far clearest video on yt to show different stitches! Thanks for sharing! Do you recommend cotton yarn for beginners? I have tried with velvety chenille and it is so messy. I am still struggling lol
Loved that you showed all 4 variations of the sc! No for a completely different subject… what color and brand nail polish are you wearing? I love the iridescence ❤ thanks 😊
Thank you!! And my nails are gel (+ no wipe top coat) with a holo chrome powder buffed in! The powder I use is from this brand called Born Pretty and I get it from eBay. Hope this helps! 😁
I use YU/YO for amigurumi, I agreed with you that it’s easier to do than YU/YU. Now I’m crocheting tapestry crochet by using Yu/Yo method, I wondered if YU/YU would make the finished work better than YU/ YO.
Your tension must be a little tighter to begin with. I have seen amigurumi with gaping holes that completely exposes the fiberfill. Plus working with cotton, you have very little to no stretch. I would like to see you do this with a worsted weight. Thank you for the clear explanation of the stitches.
I just realized that I accidentally used Yo/Yu, so the method almost nobody is using, the whole time. What I wanted to do was Yu but I kept making the first stich Yo. The stitches are indeed quite tight and hard to work through but I thought that‘s just the way it is.
Am I the only one that finds yarn under to be incredibly awkward and difficult to do? Every time I've tried it I've struggled so much I just give up and do yarn over. I feel like there must be something I'm missing.
It felt weird for me when I switched initially too! It does take some getting used to, and you have to kind of build up that muscle memory before it starts to feel “normal”. Hope this helps!

Sorry you were treated so poorly. I started crocheting during Covid and discovered amigurumi and never looked back. I really like making gnomes.
Finally the most thorough and detailed video that covers all about single crochet yarn over and yarn under different techniques and comparisons!

Me too 😂😂😂 it’s funny because I just noticed like just now after 20 years of this hobby

Very comprehensive tutorial! I love the "why" explanations! Liked and subbed from Newfoundland! ❤❤
PS..love your nail colour! 😂😂😂

This is EXCELLENT!!! You explain and demonstrate so well! Thank you for going into all of the details!
Thanks you so much. That style to stitch i never know why my crochet doesn't like crochet on internet. Now you make me clear!
Thank you for making this video. It’s slow enough to understand what you are doing.
Crochet academy! Thank you. This was a very useful and easy to understand video. ❤
Thanks for the detailed directions. Very helpful verbal and visual instructions.❤️

Thank you for this. I’ve been doing yo/yo forever. I will see if I can try the yu/yo next

I am new to Amigurumi and new for this group. I am crocheting for a long time, but this presentation bits all my expectations. Thank you very much!!

I started experimenting with yu/yo in my most recent project and really love it!
This is amazing. I've only used yu/yo option. Pretty cool to try the rest as well
thank you I never thought that the under or over made any difference to my Amigurumi but trying this out I can see the difference😀😀
What a great tutorial and you solved my issue of my amigurumi coming out larger than the pattern. Thank you!
VERY GOOD AND CLEAR EXPLANATION
this is so well explained, thank you so much

Excellent excellent video! Loved your scientific approach. Subscribing to your channel!
Very helpful and so thorough. Thank you for posting this!

thank u for teaching n sharing!!
Thank you! I generally use YO/YO or YU/YO. I may try YU/YU.
Just starting crochet. So glad I found your channel. Very thorough. Can you tell me what’s on your nails? Stunning color!! 🤩

I wonder if any of the methods could be used in other sc projects if you have difficulty meeting gauge 🤔
Loved the scientific approach

Very very good ❤❤❤
Thank you❤❤❤
Excellent video ❤❤❤
Does it cricheting depend on holding , like a pen or like a knife?? I hold like a pen
Hello, it doesn’t matter how you hold your hook, both ways work!
I just realized that I accidentally used Yo/Yu, so the method almost nobody is using, the whole time. What I wanted to do was Yu but I kept making the first stich Yo. The stitches are indeed quite tight and hard to work through but I thought that‘s just the way it is.
Which type is good amigurumi toy?
WHAT YARN DO YOU USEE
Can you please make big jasmine stitch crochet heart bag full tutorial video
I was completely oblivious to the fact that I’d been yarning under this whole time! 😂
Ive been crocheting and doing amigurumi for a few years and have never heard of this until today. Wth
