A small tip that i do often: when you Layout your build with woll or concrete, then go inside and start building some interior, then go and add the exterior, sometimes it gives you some extra shapes that you wouldnt have thought of in the first place
Finding out that a minecraft block is scale one meter in real life made me have an existential crisis. Imagine carrying those around in your pockets and how large they would actually be
Haha, there’s actually videos on the internet about how Steve is literally the strongest being ever! Imagine carrying a stack of 1x1m Gold blocks!! And that’s just 1 stack! Now think of the weight of 36 shulkers full of them 🤯
leaving a comment for the algorithm, this video helped me a lot because it really goes into the juice of the meat at building/planning/scaling etc etc. feels way more fresh now. Great editing too!!!
I've always been very bad at building and I never really understood why, except for a lack of practice. I want to start building better and this video might actually help me a lot in that aspect. Especially the fact that you said that the planning of a layout and a vision for what you want your build to be is so important instead of just starting to place blocks. The most I've always thought about a build beforehand was something along the lines of 'It is going to have two stories and maybe a little side area' and then you just end up with something that looks very bad. I'm excited to get better though and will definitely be checking your other videos out!
Thank you, this is exactly why I make videos like this. To help people realise that anyone can build and it doesn’t take much to learn to understand what makes things look good! Make sure to check the other episodes in the series!
@AdieCraft definitely will man! Right now I've built a small house and an indoor swimming pool thing and i'm honestly pretty shocked how well they turned out. A little thought in your build really does go a long way
Great video! Also those are some sweet builds :) The planning & layout section where you quickly explained why you adjusted the layout for the roof at 6:35 was insightful along with other small details like the face of the sun. I've been watching some build tutorials but they rarely explain why they build this and that, they're kind of made for people to follow along instead of explaining the process. It would be a great experience to see you go in depth with tips like that. Thanks for the video and good luck with your channel!
What a fantastically useful overview of how to set up the "bones" of these builds! Also, great point about the y-levels (height variances) on the different buildings in a multi structure build. Thanks so much for one of the most helpful how-to Minecraft videos I've seen in a long while.
And thank you for such an awesome comment. Make sure you check out the other vids in this series to help with the next stages of building and design 👍🏻
Good video - I have great intentions to build things (and have plenty of ideas) but rarely plan very much before I build. Consequence is I have lots of partially completed builds scattered around my world that I have got some way through and then realized it doesn't fit or needs so much extra height to look right. I usually abandon them and go do something else (equally as chaotic)!
thank you!! i want to make my own builds, but i always end up following tutorials block for block because anything i create looks terrible. 😔 but hopefully with some tips i can figure out how to do it myself!
Nice video Adie. Do you plan on having videos on working with the terrain or your thought process when choosing shapes and sizes of say that fishing village you made? I think that's something a lot of people struggle with. Turning their plans into their visions, or how exactly to make their wall curve naturally and deal with that 5-10 block jump in height. #FoodForThought
Thanks Typort. Yes I will be covering some of that in the later episodes with organic shapes and and the angles. Also an episode on realism and using references
Adding extra portions to my house has helped my house to look better. Sometimes I run into an issue where the roof doesn't quite connect to the other areas of the house. I mostly encounter this problem when building larger houses. Do you have any tips on how to deal with this?
Yes, Pick the biggest area and build the roof as you would normally. Then simply build the other roofs to that. I will have a full episode on roofs coming soon, so make sure to subscribe and check the other episodes in the series.
I - Your vision: What will you build? What will it be? What will it do? =Remember, your build almost certainly WILL be different from your vision: it's not about making a 1:1 replica of your vision, it's about clarity. II - Location: What dimension? What biome? Enough space? =Explore! There's a huge variety of terrain. =What will the direction of the build be? How will the Sun shade it? Will it the important parts of the build be dark? Important with shaders on! III - Size: Real-world scale or bigger? Footprint (ie. how much of the ground it needs)? =Decide on the size, and make sure you have enough space. Simple as that. IV - Planning and layout: Experiment, iterate, gain clarity. =Planning is especially useful for large builds. Gives you something to build from. =Consider: composition, 1-block or 2-block centre, height variation of the ground, height(s) of the build.
There was a false Copywrite claim on the music I’d used. But still meant I had to use the tools on YT to remove it, which means it now starts suddenly afterwards and impacted the sound.

Yes, that can help, but depends if you know what the interior is going to be. I prefer fitting interiors at the end, personally.
I personally lay all my buildings footprints out in stone or something similar that way I don't have to redo them when I make the builds foundation
I love building, but I find myself stuck when trying to create bigger and better things. This was super helpful! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Make sure to check out the other episodes in the series

Awesome! Thank you!
I’ve always struggled with building in any kind of game lmao. This has already helped me a lot
Glad you enjoyed it and it helped

I’m liking these videos. I’m not good at building in general due to lack of practice/creativity but I’ll be checking this series out for sure
Awesome! This is what i'd always hoped for for the series! Glad you like them.
Some great tips! This is one of my favourite parts of the building process. I love planning.
Thanks. Planning is great, but so few really consider it
Thanks Adie. This series was helpful on a whole other level.

Glad it’s been helpful to you
This helped me figure out scale- I tried to make something around the size of the first red outline, but I made it 20 x 15 blocks 😭
I’m glad you managed to work it out! There will be more episodes coming soon!

Adie i love you.
Thank you so much!
I've watched you for the past 6 month
Glad to hear it! Thank you
5:53 good for you!

what shader is that omg so beautiful
They are BSL shaders.

I think
Ist also useful to make volor code when planig with wool

Nice summary 👍🏻
Someone can you tell me what kind of resoucepack is the 0:30 used?
I mostly don’t use a resource pack. The look comes through the shaders, and I use BSL shaders. When I do use a texture pack it’s Vanilla BDCraft.
@@AdieCraft Thank you AdieCraft!!
I will make sure to sub to your channel cause it helped me a lot!!
"El Cantina" Lmao
Haha, glad you liked it
i aint asking how to improve if i cant even build
The series can help with that
what shader is being used in the intro of the video
I use BSL Shaders
please do a shader pack settings video!!
Will have a look. Thanks
Done I sub and like and bell
Awesome! Thanks!
Can you plss tell me what's the shape in minecraft like the diamond shape thing, i really want to build it to my town.
A trapezium? I’m a bit confused as to what you mean?
@@AdieCraft Ohhh i get now thx by the way man im saying is diagonal because i thought is diamond shape 😅
HOW DO I GET THE OUTLINES ON BLOCKS
It’s a setting on the BSL shaders.
@@AdieCraft thank you
When they do it, it looks easy! But when I try it, it looks queasy...
Practice will get you there.
If one block in minecraft is 1m x 1m, those bricks are huge!!
Haha, they would
I build pretty good but I fail in size now my roof is not even connected
Making sure to make a frame for a build so you don't go too big always helps
10:26 what is up with the sudden music
There was a false Copywrite claim on the music I’d used. But still meant I had to use the tools on YT to remove it, which means it now starts suddenly afterwards and impacted the sound.
Me who is about to do this with dirt instead of wool like a madman
It’s all fun and games until the grass spreads and you can’t find your lines 😂
I have been playing Minecraft for 6 years (in pocket edition) and I still sucked at building
Hopefully this series can help!
