I sucked at building in Minecraft, so I spent a week watching building tutorials and using all my skills to create the most ambitious build I've ever attempted.
Also, a big shout out to @GeminiTayMC for world edit tutorials so good that they're still coming in clutch 5 years later.

im genuinely obsessed with minecraft and didnt even notice that i was watching a mc vid from someone who doesnt usually post mc videos it felt so natural to hear you and watch you play it
i loved your build!! such a wonderful build for something so new to you :3
Omg thank you so much! Looks like my years of watching Minecraft content is finally paying off lol
I'm wondering if I can build this in my survival world 😂. bc I really want to build this
The clip of Pearls secret life tower in the montage of building tutorials 😂
Build so powerfull that no one will be able to forget it.
@@JessLessthat’s one way to describe it….
the best cell tower!!!
right the "tower"
"don't insult a man's tower"
Honestly I’m incredibly impressed considering this video was supposed to be experimental. The editing, pacing and overall vibe is immaculate. I would actually love to see more builders post their process like how you’ve done. It makes me wanna try to build despite how terrible I think I am at it lol
Exactly this!
I completely agree! 😊🥰💖
100
Ah yes.. The best build ever. Mumbo's Tower.
as someone who routinely watches professional Minecraft RUclipsrs, I 100% could have been convinced that you are one
this is insanely beautiful, and to know it’s the result of just a week’s work (and your art school knowledge) is even more amazing!
I absolutely loved all of the art metaphors!
...
Is it a metaphor if it's objectively true...whatever. The connections. I especially liked the thing about just getting something down on the page, because that's definitely the hardest part for me. And even if it's just some primitive shapes, it really helps my motivation and inspiration.
Really enjoyed the video, and I'm definitely going to go play Minecraft now. Thanks, and great job!
Thanks you so much! Glad to hear we all share a universal fear of the dreaded blank canvas lol
Analogies? Parallels? anyway. Good to make those connections.
Gurl, as I builder myself that has worked with quite a lot of builds for servers. You are doinh so well! I just feel it, just some more tutorials and stuffs and you could be better. This is so good. The tree itself has a nice shape and the leaves were nicely added, wasnt sure how i felt for it when you were just adding it but gurl it turned so good at the end. Maybe because i liked trees airy in a sense but this type of leaves might be something i would build in the future. And the frustration with structures are so relatable, specially when something isnt measured properly. You did great with it tho. Love the palette you choose for it, it is integrated nicely with the surroundings. Tho in conclusion, you ✨slayed✨. Your major really did shine in this video. Your creativity has served you well this time. You should do more building stuffs videos in the future if you want to.
The worldedit stuffs at the start was so funny to me.😂 (Because I crashed the server so many times when I was new xD). So relatable

This really inspires me. I’ve had this build idea in the back of my head for months now, and like you said- building in Minecraft is really intimidating. But the fact that you- a beginner in Minecraft builds- made an amazing build? Inspires me to actually jump into Minecraft and actually try to build the ‘dream’ build I’ve been wanting to do!
Your build is amazing, the tree, the buildings, the little mushrooms! And the foxes are so cute!
Love all your videos, and I would definitely love to see more Minecraft vids interspersed with your other projects!
mumbo's episode of secret life was not helping you were just watching for those for fun. caught in 4k (:
How dare you insinuate I was not hard at work researching while watching that video. I was studying from some of the best builders of out time lol.
Hi Jess! Im a newer fan of your content and I enjoy your videos so much!! You inspire me a lot ❤
Awww thank you soo much!
I play on the Switch at the moment so I’ve never had access to world edit n this is the first time I feel like I actually understand a bit of how it functions thx to u explaining ur learning process with it. I really think that this kinda perspective where u don’t seem like u know anything until u try it, is so damn refreshing n I think will help a lot of newer players feel less intimidated by bigger projects. Keep being awesome
This is incredible! I think this might be one of the best floating islands I’ve seen made!
I will say after finishing this video BRAVO on the editing!
It really reminds me of watching one of the hermits Build something i didnt even realise you were still a newbie in building.
Definately reminded me of Pearl building stuff with the editing.
JESS LESS UPLOAD!!
Ooo this is a different kind of video but I'm still super excited to watch! You're videos are simply amazing quality every time and so enjoyable to watch!
awww stop it (*/ω\*)
Idk how I'm just now seeing this after 4 months after its been posted??? This video was really nice though and it makes me feel much better about building now that I see other people struggle learning too (large builds in Minecraft can be really intimidating!)
As for this type of content I'd personally really enjoy these type of building videos. There isnt a lot out there regarding learning how to build in creative mode on a large scale while making the build look good, its really nice to see and learn specifically about the art process itself along with you. (I love art in general so still plan on watching your irl art projects as well too ^^)
Now...the biggest lesson i've learned from this, however, is I need to try out world edit because large organics intimidate me SO MUCH even though in regular art (I do digital drawing primarily) I LOVE organics 💀
This was so fun to watch! I’m glad your trying out new things! Keep it up :D
reminds me of some kind of lotr tree
The thing I liked most about the video (and the channel as a whole) is how relatable it is! It was so fun to see the WorldEdit learning curve, can't wait to see more building videos :D
I've hesitated to even touch world edit because of how little I knew about it, but your video has helped me overcome some of that intimidation I felt from it. thanks so much, this build and your process were very inspiring!
I can't even build a roof, personally. I'm going to save this video to a playlist or two for inspiration. Because I also suck at building, and I never really knew what to about that. So, this video really helps! Showing someone who went into it with the same perspective/lack of experience, figuring things out along the way and eventually making something that's downright STUNNING!
Ahh! I love ur mincraft skin!! The eyes remind me of grian lol :]
Also, I loved this video, I think it would be so cool to see you improve over multiple videos. I encourage you to keep going with this kind of format! ❤ :]
legit thought it was his vidnfor a sec lol
I thought that it looks like a child of Grian and Gem haha
Tinkers construct jerrys tree.
Jokes aside this is actually a pretty good example of how to get started learning what can feel like a really complex topic, for the most part it really does come down to just doing the subject and making a habit out of the tools others use before experimenting with new ones. And sometimes it comes down to learning how to learn in the first place.
I personally learned how worldedit works from watching vechs when his maps were popular in 2012-2014, but i usually play my builds by ear in survival. I also played a lot of small multiplayer servers before one of my favorites shut down. So to anyone who is worried that they are terrible at building, I can personally say that you dont really need to make a hermitcraft quality build or massive rooms to make your worlds feel good, just that you need to make the world work for you and put in a little extra effort than whats required to make it comfy or town like. I think youtubes kinda warped that perspective a fair bit.
This has to be one of my favourite mc videos purely that you made an amazing build with the basic mc textures and stuff. No shaders,no mods. This make me feel like I can actually make good builds
Your build is absolutly amazing, and I could see someone in Hermetcraft making that as a base.
The Minecraft building community is so cool and supportive, and that’s how I found your channel! We’d be glad to have you make more videos like this :))
As someone that kinda knows their way around worldedit and building i can confirm it is extremely triggering to watch your uses of the program 👍.
Now seriously, this was a very interesting video to watch! Watching you make odd mistakes was very amusing, but i learned a few things too! Seing this journey was another look at the learning process of worldedit from another perspective.
Also, psst, you said worledit reminds you of 3d sculpting programs? Try axiom lmao, it's quite familiar to blender.
Edit to add: Wow, the final result is plenty impressive on it's own right! Even more seeing how much experience you have with MC building and buiding programs!
I don't usually play creative or use world edit, but I've recently started doing a lot of custom terrain in my survival world. Not leaving a single plot of land untextured!
I was always too intimidated to do stuff like that, but it's been a whole lot of fun! And seeing someone else experience that joy of learning is really cool :D
Ok that block palette looks insanely good though. Using the warped blocks as the main "grass" floor block with the cherry wood for the main tree is a really good combo.
I really liked this video. I've played Minecraft for around 10 years. And the fact of the matter is, ive never once in my life finished a build. The max i would do is one house, or a underground dug base that was all rectangles. Every modpack I ever played, i ended up quitting bc of my building skills. This year i decided to fully commmit to a modpack and build no matter how hard it could be, and i had so much fun with the whole seeing inspo and trying out my own tweaks. Earlier this week i was on the verge of quitting bc a project was being really daunting for me inside that world, and only after this video was i able to experience the joy of building again through someone else, and i logged back in and gave my all to that build (still wip) and im super happy with it now. Tysm Jess bc you really pushed me forward and this build looks amazing!!! I cant wait to one day play with world edit too (bc i play survival), and then try and copy paste it in my survival word.
This was trully refreshing and i was hooked to every single second of this video
Not only was the build and the entire process very impressive and beautiful, but this video was also so well put together! It had just the right pace in my opinion where I felt entertained all the way through without it feeling rushed or hectic but rather relaxing! And the camera angles and music you chose were also so good! Would love to see more of this!
Also love the minecraft skin!
"i thought of a creative design that was all on my own woo!" is so relatable
...and I quote: "yeah, I like this"
This was super cute! Would love to see more like this, I'm always looking for cute Minecraft build videos to watch
The tree when it looked like it was melting actually looks amazing!
The building glow up! Almost makes me want to finish that castle I started ages ago....almost. This was a fun vid to watch!
Truthfully, i was so happy when i saw that you watch Geminitay for the build tutorial even that from one of her old videos. I have always loved her videos and she has been my fov for quite a while now. Another thing im really happy about is that when i first started learning world edit even even i went to her old videos to learn (though i use a mobile and couldnt figure out anything properly)... :)
if you showed me this build and didn't tell me this was your first ever, i wouldn't know otherwise because of how amazing it turned out! you have a great talent for it, that's for sure. it'd be neat to see you learn more ways to build and/or see different kinds of builds you want to experiment with!
THE FINISHED PROJECT LOOKS SO GOOD!
I understand the struggle with world edit. It sucks.
The shenanigans with worldedit were so funny 😂
I love this concept! I used to be really good at building years ago in minecraft but with how much stuff has been added i’ve kinda fallen behing
This is the first thing both me and my partner have seen from you and we both absolutely loved it! Please absolutely play more Minecraft. I had no idea how the world edit worked, but this has definitely inspired me to give it a go and get experimental!
At first, wanted to skip to the end of the video to see the result (because the preview looked cool) and leave , but sticked to your journey of learning how to build in Minecraft and, god, ... This video is so high quality and damn entertaining! Of course, you should continue doing videos like this. This is AMAZING!!!
Thank God it’s not just me who has the actual worst time building the most basic house like structure. Every bit of that segment is exactly my experience building houses. I can build freaking ufos and carve bunkers, but a little shack is IMPOSSIBLE feeling lmao
For someone who doesn’t make minecraft build videos this is amazingly edited, nice music and made a 30 min video feel like 10
World edit is definitely just like Minecraftified Blender. Clunky functions that require a steep learning curve, 3d modelling/sculpting setup, randomly just breaks your project completely out of nowhere.
Literally inspiring me to try and learn how to build better in MC. I always get super pumped to make one and then lose all motivation once I go to do it because it's SO overwhelming. Thank you for this video and showing that it is possible to start from knowing bare minimum to a mega build like this masterpiece!!!
Honestly as someone else who plays MC and has an art degree, I'm floored
You did a fantastic job doing some things in this video i've been too scared to do myself (like using world edit)
The build looks amazing
two things to say.
1. How are you so good at building, I've followed so many tutorials and i am still bad.
2. I love the build and would love to see more minecraft content from you in the future.
: )
This was so fun to watch, it felt like 27 minutes went in the blink of an eye. You actually inspired me to improve my creative building and finally learn/mess around with world editing since it always looked difficult. I really loved the video!
Omg the build ended up looking so good!! And as someone else who's trying to figure out how to build and use world edit this video was actually quite helpful :)
This is amazing! I’ve tried before to learn how to build in minecraft, and it was really interesting to see your approach.
Yeah, this video was so fun, the fox is so cute and everything came together in the end!
im not one to usually comment, but I REALLY loved this vid and i would love to see more! your presentation was very natural and i love it, and not to mention the build was GREAT it looks so natural it reminds me of Gem's builds! and the colors work very well together. You should definitely experiment more with minecraft builds, its very entertaining to watch.
have a great day!
BRUH I'm so inspired. for some reason the thing that's blowing my mind the most is your mastery of the paste and other flipping/selecting commands in World Edit. paste is the bane of my life I just can never get it to do what I want, and selecting is a pain too. granted I haven't fully looked into tutorials so I should do that 😂 discovering the stack command was my most recent epiphany
the wool boxes have never been really useful to me but I think I should give them another go. I think I'm too worried about the final result with all the depth and details, when I should remember that this is Block Game and it's all gonna look a bit blocky and that's normal
10:47 hey, little tip, if your cilenders are sand it will naturally fall, then you can just replace the sand with stone
New Jess Less video lets go
You literally struggled so much it reminds me of my own way of learning the world edit and building. I love this vid, it brings so many memories and it's also really funny.
I loved this video so much, your build was absolutely breathtaking and you are so skilled and incredible at building! Grian would be proud
I know you said tiny comment but okay here I go:
I love literally everything about this build, from the concept to the color pallet. I would have never guessed you didnt build like this normally, seeing your process and experience through it all has inspired me in a way to get back into building again.
The story you created for the build is amazing too, i dont think every build needs a story but it really ties all of it together. Coming from someone who loved mushroom builds this was my favorite thing in the whole wide world to see. The little blue mushrooms added as path ways / jump paths was such a fantastic touch and something like that could only be imagined through experience and creation.
Would wholeheartedly love to see this kind of content more from you! I was subscribed on my other channel for your arts and crafts, the fact you are getting into minecraft like that is so good. I love it so much!
Okay I will stop now but you did amazing... NOW BUILD IT IN SURVIVAL! /j
Cant wait to see more videos soon! Love what ya make!
As a builder, I actually think you improved your building skills so fast. Good job 👏🏽
this video was a great fun! i just finished a build that i'm pretty proud of, using some new blocks. its probably the first build i can actually say i'm proud of! it was a joy seeing how much art knowledge i've absorbed through people like grian, and how much more i have to learn!! and this video got me even more excited for my big plans on my smp!!!
this is a great video, here's hoping the algorithm picks it up!! ^^
As a person that has been playing mc for i guess its like 5-7 years i can say that you blew my mind i did not expect that from a person that doest play or post mc vids ur built turned out amazing and i learnt a few new things
Your build turned out really nice and the video edit was smooth. Enjoyed hearing your process through learning all these tips and tricks and the struggles along the way. I am not a big mod fan although I do appreciate what can be created with them. Keep it up!
That was such a joy to watch! I've been wanting to learn world edit myself, and watching you teach yourself was genuinely so encouraging! 😊💕
THIS WAS SO COOL!!! The fact that you can learn so much and be able to apply it in such a beautiful way is amazing. (also loving the scar block palette with the teal and orange lmao)
I LOVE this!! Its SO amazing! I haven't played minecraft because I got really bummed out when my builds didn't go how I wanted it to. This just made me SOOOOO happy! I struggle paying attention for more than 30s (I blame you youtube shorts) but this kept me entertained for a solid 30 minutes. Thank you! I hope to see something like this again :)
I honestly loved this new format of video ! It was so nice and interesting to see your whole process, from start to finish, plus the result turned out incredible !! (and it made me want to try too now lol) It'd be amazing to see some other builds from you in the future :D
This is so impressive especially since you’ve never even done this before. So fun to watch.
Im so happy that the very first build you featured was Philza's flowerfall i LOVE that! I love philza so much
The build was amazing :D and the showcase of flowerfall just made me so happy
Just stumbled onto this video...loved it. Never watched any other video's of yours but will go and check them out now. You are a Minecraft builder! Keep it up
You learning create sounded exactly how I feel when I'm trying to use command blocks. Such a mixture of surprises and frustration all in one.
Edit: yeah all of your struggles with the buildings is so relatable to every minecrafter too
This was such a fun and down to earth video! I get lost watching MC youtubers know exactly what to do and where and watching you stumble your way through felt really relatable
Commenting to let you know I enjoyed this video a lot! It was really well made and impressive to see you learn throughout the video!
looks really cozy!!! it's nice to see the learning process take shape into something of a kindling familiarity
This video was so much fun! From your narration to your humor to your artistic process, it was awesome to watch. You seem like you would fit right along with the members of hermitcraft!
I love this video! World edit has always felt very intimidating to me, but watching this was inspiring.
As a proffesional builder myself with hundreds hours of experience, this was extremely impressive by a new builder like you to pull off as nicely. Excellent work!
i love this video so much, the build, the references as well as the comparisons to real life art, it doesnt look easy, but watching you do it makes it look more manageable. the end result is so pretty and i would love to see more of these videos along with your normal vids.
I seriously loved this video so much! 💖 Your let's-just-go-for-it attitude, your humor, your creativity, all of it was just super entertaining and inspiring as well, because you made it actually feel attainable. I would 100% love to see more in the future from you! 😊
You seem like a Minecraft building pro now to me! And you might have given the best World Edit in action tutorial I've ever seen! Great job!
This was an incredibly well-done video. I have been building in Minecraft for a while, but have just recently started learning World Edit, and this project is just so amazing to see and have as inspiration.
This is seriously amazing! You made the thought of trying World Edit less daunting! This is the first video of yours that I’ve seen and would love to see a building series from you!!
This was so fun to watch, used world edit some years ago and now I'm building flying islands in survival mode xD and stumbled upon your video while I was looking for style inspiration. Would love to see more videos like that!
awesome to see the process of learning and applying world edit for someone who hasn't used it before. I loved this video and hope to see more!
This was great video! I’d absolutely love to see more in minecraft videos of yours!! I too struggle with making buildings in minecraft so it was fun to see someone overcome that! I absolutely adore the fox theme of the build! 🤍🦊🤍
I loved this! Ive always been really intimidated by word edit, but now I wanna give it a try! This was amazing! Thank you!
You are now my favorite RUclipsr, I have been here for a year or two and you taught me so may things, ever since I saw the first book video I new immediately that I would be with this channel for years to come. I’ve now started to make notebooks for my friends and family and have gotten so many ideas for myself. So thank you, and thank you for the inspiration - Oakland and Phoenix from MCT System
Wow this build is amazing 😍 i love the mystical glowing style and that beautiful color scheme :3
I love the little bits about how much art theories/practices/techniques come into play with Minecraft! I get stumped (pun semi-intended?) on big builds because of how overwhelming it can feel and this made me realize it's similar to how my sketches and writing can feel overwhelming and needing to just... go for it? Start off with small bits or skeletons and go from there. I feel so inspired now!!
i would definitely watch an entire jess lets play series, that would be awesome lmao. the inspired becomes the inspiree, newest up and coming mcyt!
Would definitely want to see more of these builds. Amazing Job!
You’ve inspired me to make more things it’s all your videos! Thank you for that! I’m not very talented with Minecraft myself and especially not World edit! But I found it so fun watching you and it reminded me off myself when I was learning to detail and use gradients! It made me laugh so much! Never give up and take a break when you need it! And I think your build looks absolutely amazing btw hope you make more content like this!
i thought at first i was watching a hermitcraft member type of channel, but i was kinda surprise that it's not like I thought, so I guess that says a lot from this video and your building progress in it :), you made me feel kinda inspired now
Fantastic build and to express the same sentiment I’ve seen in a lot of the comments I enjoyed seeing you build up a new skill. Really enjoy your sense of humor in this one and in some of your other videos
U are so good at building!!! I've been building for 4 years now and still haven't improved as much as you have in this one video!
Best way to start the new year: finding a new RUclipsr to be completely obsessed with!!!!!
This video was super enjoyable! It's interesting to see so many tools used for digital art fully ported to Minecraft.
