Brazil is booming like never before. Serious international investment has created many new jobs and since 2003 more than 20 million people have risen out of poverty. "We do not have serious financial problems like Europe and the United States", says a Brazilian insurance agent. In Rio, a new cable car system transports 100,000 people from the slums into the city to work each day. Yet a booming illegal weapons and drugs trade still plagues the city. The government strategy of "pacification" has seen military occupation of the sprawling favelas for two years: a controversial measure, but one that is credited with making the streets safe again."Today I can walk around unarmed and alone without being afraid", one policeman smiles. "Look we have an ATM and can take money out in peace!" a local journalist shows us proudly. They might still have a long way to go, but locals are positive that, "we now have a better country".

The truth is : nobody want to solve this problems completely because it's profitable for a small group of people... Who are these people? I don't know, all I know is that in this case, ignorance is a bliss!
Being a brazilian isn't easy, i'm going to understand this country when I get older, because as the popular saying says "Brazil isn't for beginners"...
im FROM brazil and mean problem in Brazil is the corruption
go back get off of America
Really good documentary worth watching until the end thank you.
i'm brazilian and i've so disappointed about my country. We have high tax rates, no free market, big government, high corruption rates , high poverty rates, high violence rates, political instability ,bad income distribution, low income, high illiteracy rates, low education level, inefficient public transport, low technology, political bureaucracy, lack of public safety...
I think seriously to leave my country and look for a better place to live!

I love brazil ❤️
They need to invest in more education and better social projects for these ppl, shame!
the favela won´t go away while corruption and poverty exist
The man, for name Luiz Carlos reporter communit is my father, we are brazilian, and we lives in the Complexo do Alemão favela
Safety in Brazil is questionable at best. I have seen some vid's of necklace and phone thiefs. They just walk up to tourists and rip there gold off them and walk away. If your on a bus and the window is open they will grab your phone or neck lace. Not a safe place at all. It's a shit hole.
I was just watching that rn lol
there was no tourists. Shithole is your thinking. You see a vídeo and get the impression...
We all know about the city out side of the resort's. Police wont even go there. Tin shed's and gangs running the streets. Most of the area's the military have to patrol due to all the police shooting. If it wasn't for tourism Brazil would be a 3rd world country for sure. The president's have raped the country. So yea it's a shit hole. If it wasn't for big chain hotel's the beaches would be tin houses as well.
+BULLOCK shit hole it is nuke this place
No
You saw a video of Rio
Rio de Janeiro don't represent the whole country
I Feel Bad For The People In The Favelas; Their Lives Are At Risk Everyday
Also, The Police Are Corrupt
Everything is definitely not better in Brazil. They can barely compete with California, which is only one of 50 American states.
Glad things are getting better in Brazil but no need to get cocky and arrogant, especially with all those Slums.
Such a rosy picture- and four short years later, it's all turned to mud.
You've uploaded this documentary already, stop! You did this last time but called it cable cars Brazil.
oh get off it, if more people see it it's worth it.
+Pocari Suit here here mate!
Thanks to Europeans design and MONEY.
we live on a rich planet, enough for everyone.. greed/power/fear/disconnection is why one man takes much more than he needs and leaves his brother hungry, hurting, and poor.. we live on a slave planet a slave dimension..
I am NOT a slave.
"Slavery is a choice"

6th largest economy. Sounds like a bustling paradise. The US should adopt "Pacification" too. It must mean "career opportunities" in Portuguese.
How things have changed.
The favela is a shame for Brazil
What? Brazil is in the list of countries the is ranked as diaster economies and its only going to get worse. Its not as bad as South Africa but still its really bad why did you reupload it in 2016?
haha this is old
Maybe we can see the update four years from now. ;)
nah,it stays an old slump,OVERPOPULATED.Still corrupt,gangs,drug dealers.
How is that funny
Uploaded 4 years ago, talking about nearly 10 years ago.
Way too many people in that country. They seriously need to cut back.
You appear on almost every video I watch xD
*****
Yep; I am everywhere, I see everything.
They need to have some kind of birth control there maybe only one child instead 10.
The Brazilian government has to end the favela in Brazil
exactly
Oh okay, you're going to give houses to the people who live in the favelas, right?
That’s doesn’t make sense. Where will they go and who will pay for it?
Thanks for uploading....
That gondola is super cool!
Ooom cha ooom cha cha cha oooom chaaaa
The comment from the first guy 'we don't have financial problems like in Europe, we were well prepared' hasn't aged well! Some serious delusion there!
song at the start?
There are good music cultures of the favelas in Rio de Janeiro including the freestyle music based out of the Latin Capitals of the United States of the cities of New York City and also Miami of the Latin hip hop with a lot of the synthesized dance beats. And also the Baile Funk is about the same. Brazil is rich in the music diversities. Music is fun to dance in old school style.
This video is pretty optimistic, but it looks like things haven't gone so well economically.
It seems that this video was done in 2012. Since there the things began to worse. The governments hid the real true about the economic situation. Sad!
Does the public really need to see an ad on menopause before each video? Kinda sick to me.
Hint: they aren't.
pm confortavel de andar des armado????? que trducao e essa? ele nao disse isso
Does the public really need to see an ad on menopause before each video? Kinda sick, if you ask me.
Who pays for the gondolas? It certainly isn't the people who live in the Favelas.
