Thank you...My instructor assumed that we knew this stuff and assigned homework that I had no idea how to do. This is awesome. Saved my day. I'm going to go ahead and watch all of your phonology videos.
Thank you for your video. It helps me a lot in learning linguistics as a first-year graduate student. Why can you explain phonology in a such a comfortable way with a gentle and tender sounds😊
Hey, I just noticed that there is a little mistake in the rule for Schwa insertion because if a schwa is inserted before a voiced stop the features for the voiced stop should be [-son,-cont, -del rel, +voice]. We have to include the [-cont] as well because if we only use the features [-son, -del rel, +voice] all the voiced fricatives would still be included. But thanks for your great explanations they really helped me !
Mashallah you are amazing, you helped me understand syntax and now phonology, I'm so glad that I found your channel and subscribe to it. And I'm your biggest fan also, thank you so much.
Why is there -son AND -del rel for the features of stops at the same time? I understand the delay release part, but dunno why -sonorant should be here :p thanks!
How do sum up the following to write down a rule? : 1.(-son, +cont, +str, +cor), these are s z ʃ ʒ, but whats the preamble? 2. (+son, -cont) ; can I just say Fricatives? 3. (+son, -cont) (-cons) 4. (-cons)
you're helpful than my lecturer, but please be clearer like be more specific, if u had a previous explanation please give in the description for the link. I really beg you. Because, I have no idea what is this about. The lecturer ask me to write rules ofthe process but I can't find the text book about it anywhere.

we were asked to make a presentation abt this stuff and I don't have any idea what it is lol
14:29, nasals are [+sonorant] not [-sonoronat]
8:33 why you gave the futures of -DR to a stop ? because if we excluded the affricates we will still have fricatives which aren't -cont?
Thank you ! Even my professor doesn't teach this as deeply as you do

isn't fricatives [+dr]?
Thanks. One question? In the last segment of the clip, /m/ and /n/ are said to be [-son] , right? , However, those two phonemes are +son(orant).
Oh no. My bad! Yes, they should be +son.
For low unrounded vowels can [-high] be considered redundant? Because according to the vowel chart in the last video all [+low] are already [-high]
So thankful 🥹
thank you for this video my professor sucks but you saved me

What's the difference between the diphthong [ei] and the vowel-glide combination [ej] ?
Or a diphthong [eu] and the vowel-glide combination [ew] ?
Not really any difference. A lot of beginner textbooks use vowel-glides for some reason.
Thank you so much :)
Please can you tell me how to read the (Y) in the following phonological rule?
A -> B/ X(Y) __ Z
Thank you so much
Why do we write +low and -high, it is redundant, isn't it?
It can be -low and -high which is middle
∅ > A / X _ Y . Ok, so "Foxy" should be "Foxay." ;)
Why /m/ is -sonorant..yet in the phonological features chat is +son
plz re-explain it with example it will reach more clear plz sir
