The reason why I used to watch Utd games: Giggs on the left running at defenders with his gazelle dribbling, and creating chances out of nowhere. I still consider it the "sexiest" dribbling at full speed I've seen, it's just so marvelously balanced, both powerful and graceful.
But one thing that usually is not taken into account in all of this is Giggs defensive work: Ferguson never left him play freely, for his whole career Giggs not only had to run past defenders and creating chances, but the always defended and helped the full back. He always put the team first. Stats won't tell that, and it truly makes you underrate a player overall greatness.

@@eFMe-fk1xh I agree, and I agree with how incredible his skills were.

Football was very different back in the 4-4-2 era. You ask any supposedly football expert to name their best Premier League 11 and I can guarantee no one will have Giggs in their team. That's what I mean by underrated. Those who know and saw him in his prime rate him as highly as they should

@@DannyAndo7 Fair play Danny, I hear you and respect that. 100% agree on point, today's generation wouldn't have been witness to the magic of Ryan Giggs. Which is understandable in a way. For fans of a certain vintage myself and yourself, he was absolutely rated, feared and adored. No player has had me on the edge of my seat more than Giggs. Admittedly, Ronaldo's coming of age 2006-09 period, particularly 07-08 was a gift straight from the footballing gods. Long before Sky's over saturation of football, BBC grandstand final score vidiprinter was the place on tv to get football reports. I will always remember Gerald Sindstat and Tony Gubba reporting on BBC'S Saturday games and raving about this outrageous talent the year we lost out to Leeds. He was genuinely being compared to George Best, that says it all. We were so lucky to have witnessed the most decorated player of them all

If anything was underrated I think it's his overall play when he switched to playing in the middle. The LW play, there was nothing like him in the early 90s. There was Giggs and 15 or so years later a certain CR7 came along but Giggs was in a league of his own for a large portion of his career. I mean the fact that "If only he was English" was a cliche about Giggs says everything.

@@magicfc1000his style of dribbling is definitely unique, nobody in the modern era is able to replicate it which proves he is truly special. IMO, ryan giggs is like an advanced/upgraded version of Jimmy johnstone who has an elusive style of dribbling like giggs.

I can't help but feel she knew what she was doing, dating Ryan's brother she would be close to Ryan . So?
Giggs did not win the Treble alone.
Giggs was never the best player in the world.
He was the best winger in the premiership and possibly the world for a time.
But best player at any time from 1991-2000?
Sorry totally wrong. Not better than prime Van Basten, Cantona, Baggio, Laudrup, Rivaldo, Del Piero, Ronaldo (Brazil), Zidane,

I see, so now you have changed from "Giggs was the best player in the world for so long..." now you are switching that to "over his career"?
      Zidane won in 1998:
      WORLD CUP
      SERIE A
      Italian SuperCoppa
      Ballon D'Or
How's that compare to winning the treble in 1999?

Could not play for England. Mom was Welsh, Dad was Welsh, grandparents were Welsh and he was Born in Wales.
He captained England schoolboys briefly, As a youngster, but he was never eligible for the senior England team (eligibility at the schoolboy level is based on the location of the school, attended, Giggs attended Moorside High School in Salford).
