Anaheim is still shopping Gibson like a Vezina caliber guy when he hasn’t played like it in years. That’s the problem. They need to suck it up and take what they can get for him because his value is only decreasing

@@DarkLobster69 A goalie is pretty much as good as the team in front of him. Put Shesty on ANH, he is nowhere near (numbers wise) what he is in NYR. Just think playing for the worst team for 4-6 years straight, motivation is a factor.
Stamkos would be a great fit in Detroit, but just wanted to point out that Yzerman did not draft Steven Stamkos. Stamkos was drafted in 2008 by Jay Feaster, Yzerman didn't go to Tampa until May 2010. I'm sure they have a great relationship but just wanted to clarify that error in the listeners bold prediction.
I would give the C to Nick Foligno if I was Chicago and give Bedard an A, and then give Connor the C when Nick retires/gets traded

I would have done that this past year, but now that Bedard has played a season and the C is vacant I say skip the facade and give it to him

As a Lightning fan, while I would be disappointed, I wouldn't blame Stamkos for signing elsewhere, even Florida. Like a lot of players his age, he wants one more shot at a championship, and I think he knows that it's probably not going to happen with Tampa Bay again.
As a Panthers fan, I don't know, man. There's too much love for Stamkos in Tampa. But hey, Chicago loved Kane too and look where he played this season. It would be cool to have Stamkos wearing the red jersey, but I don't think that's happening. He did look pretty sad after the Panthers eliminated the Lightning, he played well. But Kucherov on the other hand... dude was a ghost

They won games late in the season to ruin their odds, then are inevitably going to draft a bust, then attempt to bring in bad FA on even worse contracts to try and make the team better, and trade away more draft capital for players who don't wanna play in Ottawa. Only to have a bad season, but win games late on with the only goal being rining their draft odds. And then repeat lol. Same shit different pile.

and also Stammer close to home and is not in a toxic Canadian market like Toronto if he comes to Detroit, it’s win-win in every way possible.
Cap space for Tb is just not there, they MUST make a trade to even be able to give him a proper AAV... or go without 6 or 8 guys each game

Yzerman didn't draft Stamkos. Stamkos went first overall, in the 2008 draft. Yzerman was made GM prior to the 2009-2010 season.

Foligno is going to be Chicago's next captain before Bedard. Toews was a special case when he got the C so early as at the time there really wasn't anyone on the team that could lead as good as he could. Foligno is the best leader on the team right now, makes much more sense for him to wear the C a few seasons and give Bedard an example to strive to be like.
I can see Stamkos going to the Venom. (my choice for Utah's team name)

Kane and 91 can BOTH come to the wings, the space is there, but then where does cat go? 2nd PP? 91 takes his spot for sure. I am not sure if DET is ready for getting to the PO without BOTH these 2 players, but TB is scraping the bottom of the barrel also.

Marner staying in Toronto is not a really hot take in my opinion. He is able to produce a lot in Toronto with Matthew’s and it gives him the best chance of getting paid the most in free agency.

Another goalie available is Brossoit, a UFA whose stats for the Jets were better than Hellebuyck and will be lost. Ottawa could flip Korpisalo to the Jets and retain 50% of his contract and it’s still cheaper than a buyout.
As a jets fan I’d be okay with this, what’s the trade?

Bedard was benched and 13th forward on team Canada in world championship, as his game was so poor and lazy. I dont think he should be captain be4 he learns how to play for the team.

so Imo not injuries because these guys are human at the end of the day but yeah Ovi going on a weird cold streak and the caps being at the bottom of the league I would say is a fair punishment.
Panthers fan bold predictions:
- Panthers will resign Reinhart, probably he'll take a team-friendly contract (especially if the Panthers win the cup)
- Tarasenko will sign for another year with the Panthers, another team-friendly contract
- someone from the 4th line and a defenseman will probably bite the dust (maybe OEL or Montour)
- Spencer Knight might bite the dust, while Stolarz takes over the definitive back-up goalie job until the day Bobrovsky gets traded or retires as a Florida Panther, where Stolarz will become the main goaltender.

Ken Holland finally gets the axe and Oilers find a bonafied #1. I pretty baffled at Woodcroft being fired last season since the goaltending wasn't in his control. 4 different coaches in 5 years is never normal.

I dont think Skinner is that bad, he's not a top 10 goalie, but I think the Oilers D outside the top pair is just flat out terrible and the main reason they can't get over the hump. I'd start with fixing the D before going for a top goalie.

cap space is not there to sign him, it's just not, they have less than 9 million and have so many other guys to sign, if the money was there, he'd be signed long ago.

Sharing a bold prediction
Penguins trade Ryan Graves and Lars Eller for Auston Matthews Mitch Marner and a 1st
This is benefitial for both since the Leafs will get an elite top 4 D in Graves who is very consistant with the puck and Lars Eller brings in much needed bottom 6 depth and he is by far the best 3c in the league. Leafs will get an unbelievable amount of cap space by dumping Matthews and Marner which is why they give up a 1st.
Marner can play with Crosby and Matthews will be the 2c which allows malkin to be a 3c or 2 LW. Penguins also get a perfect fix for their finishing issues by acquiring Matthews.
Leafs get a much needed shake to their core

Bold Prediction - Detroit trades for Michigan navite Frank Nazar. While dumping 10m in cap at the same time.
Chicago would probably be the highest team on Jonatan Berggren, Elmer Soderblöm and JT Compher. They need roster players. They only have 9F-4D signed and have 33m in cap space.
Berggren had all three game-winning goals vs Rockford in the playoffs and dominated in that series.
Elmer Soderblöm is Arvid's brother. He's 6'8 250lbs with great hands and scoring touch.
JT Compher is from Illinois. Chicago doesn't have anyone who can play second line center. JT has experience and won a cup

I really think Kane going to Chicago is more realistic than you think.
He may NOT care about going to a competitive team at his age and time in life. he now wants to ENJOY what time he has left!
Mentoring Bedard for a year or 3 over playin in Detroit is not even a comparison from HIS perspective and that is what matters here.
When NHL'ers start approaching the twilight of their career they always want to ' go back where they started'.
There are several and many examples of players taking less money and lesser roles just because they want to play in a specific place for personal reasons.

I think Kane might prefer to end in chicago over detroit for one plus influencing a future HOF'er in bedard is worth the pay cut.
IF Chicago made it known they entertained the idea before the summer started, that gives Kane time to bend wills and also leave yzerman dangling. this is just speculation obviously BUT businesswise, it is all still theoretically possible.

Mike Grier has done a GOOD job as Sharks GM? You seriously think he did good in any of the Timo Meier, Brent Burns, or Tomas Hertl trades? You can bring up the Karlsson trade but that had more to do with pressure from external media. I just don't really see a very inspired track record when it comes to asset management from him, no granted he hasn't gotten to the hard part of the job which is always turning a non-competitive roster into a competitive one, so maybe I should hold off judgement a little while longer, but I'd be remised to say that I think the work he's done is anything close to IDEAL
People that are still Glazing about Bedard? Realize? how “Easy he was” to Play Against? at the iihf Hockey Championship, While Having Elite Linemates???… That proves how bad his “Plus/Minus” was through the season? He is easy to Play Against 5vs5!👍🏼🤦♂️lolol.
