Enjoyed your review. I have the 2022 Elegance. I bought it new. I love it . I am even now eyeing up the 2024 R line. This car is amazing. I love how it's understated . You won't find Drug Dealers buying it . The lack of badge appeal that is mentioned is more than made up for my the sheer quality of the vehicle . Let's face it VW is not a bad badge to have neither. Keep your X5 and your Range Rovers etc. For me the Toureg is a dream car. I have no car envy for other more 'premium' brands.
Mostly the same bits. The same 'toolkit', so engines, suspension, most of the chassis etc. Bentley will have specific suspension bits, as will Porsche. But by and large they're similar
@@theoptimistictraveler3558 Accidental if I did, I’ve never watched any of their videos! The only car channel I watch or subscribe to are Harry’s Garage and Joe Achilles.
Good video as always. I am never really sure why journalists comment on the width of such vehicles being a problem on country lanes. We rely on full size vans to hustle down all sorts of lanes. Sure they get bashed but that is more down to bad reversing than anything else.
If you drive down lots of country lanes something like a Kodiaq does feel noticeably less stressful when something comes the other way. I dunno, I just feel it's relevant
No spare wheel kills it for mine in Australia, so either carry one in the boot or use a roof bar and box arrangement. Would be so useful if reviewers took this into consideration and showed what boot space you would have if you carried a full size spare in the boot.
I own this car petrol engine version and being an ex owner of cayenne and GLE 3 yrs each I can confidently say this is a much better car all rounded for me… it’s v spacious compared to both, infotainment system remarkable compared to both, driveability amazing and not less than them for sure in anyway.. price wise, where I am cayenne, Q7 or GLE are at least 25k euros more expensive! Anyone in the market for luxury SUV I highly recommend checking it out.. best of luck🙏
Like you've said Tim, I really don't think this makes sense as a factory purchase! 70k for a VW when you can get an Audi is mental. I think it looks great but it definitely has the same problem as the areteon. Just too expensive brand new! Oh and excellent review 😊
The interior is nice but I wish VW would have spent more time making this facelifted version feel a bit more special inside. Apart from some updates to the infotainment system its virtually identical to the pre-facelift model inside, although I still prefer the interior of the Touareg to the Audi Q7; that car has way too much gloss black plastic and doesn't feel any more "premium" to me than the Touareg. Also great review as usual.
New black edition arrived in November and can honestly report that this is a lovely car to drive, with the exception of the nonsense EU legislated lane and speed warnings combined with the ‘all on the screen’ controls. It’s a setback to the UE that VW could so easily avoid and for not a lot more cost in reality. Price is negotiable and yes depreciation is high, just as it is with Audi and BMW. That’s an issue caused by the advent of PCP 15 years ago- all new vehicle pricing is artificially inflated because there are so few actual ‘buyers’ in the market, except YT maybe ;-). Everyone rents these things and with low cost PCP deals users believes that they are driving a bargain. Best MPG on a run with the 280 bhp v6 diesel has been 43 mpg (200+mile trip), but normal touring is 38. That is not at all bad and significantly better than the utterly forgettable GLE 350 de which had to go after only a few months of inefficient purgatory. Mercedes, never again will this writer trust you. The lights are great, with a highlight panel on the motorway to provide even clearer sight.
Which one is better X5 or this as driving & etc? Here in my country this one is much cheaper than X5 (base x5 which is x40i) that i can say the most expensive Touareg fully loaded is cheaper than the base X5 (x40i we they don’t offer the s40i in our country) .. i like every thing in the X5 except that the seats aren’t ventilated and i can have this thing in Touareg)! PS out country is super HOT in summer and probably all the year hot weather our winter is too short..! So i really need a help to choose pleae help!
VW did a good job, but I'm looking for a PHEV and some engineer said: 52 km and about 85 hp are enough for such a big car. This wouldn't be a problem, but some director said: yes you're right - that's enough for such a big car 😞 So they build a car with 2,5 tons and put in a motor with 85 hp and a battery for 52 km. So I have to look at an another brand, because my plan was to drive 90 % by electric source. But with only 85 hp the gasoline engine will start whenever I press the accelerator to much.
The dash is far better having the monitor within rather than the lazy design of the BMW's where they just plonked a wide screen on the dash and said that'll do, it's more like being sat at a desk with an ultrawide monitor in the BMW.
Moreover you can’t (in the UK at least) spec an Audi Q7 Black Edition to the same level as you can a Touareg Black Edition, most notably lacking is the all wheel steering - you have to go to the Q7 Vorsprung model for that (on which all wheel steering is standard but not available as an option on the lower models) and even the Vorsprung is deficient compared to a fully specced Touareg Black Edition diesel such as mine (2024 model with every option ticked except the upgraded leather) in that you can’t for example get Night Vision on the Q7 at all, which is an option on the Touareg and a really good feature I find. Nor can you get even a Vorsprung Q7 with heated windscreen or off road pack as you can on the Touareg, the latter including 90 litre fuel tank giving a great range in a car that I have no difficulty getting 37-38 mpg from in normal driving, even 40 mpg plus driving for economy. Lands End to John O’Goats I reckon would be doable on one tank in favourable conditions driven very gently! And I can’t see any equipment that the Vorsprung model has that you don’t get on a fully specced Touareg Black Edition, except electric luggage compartment cover. Also with the Q7 you’re stuck with the additional 2 (small) seats, which are a waste of storage space if you don’t need them, and means you can’t specify a spare wheel as you can with the Touareg - reassuring to have particularly for those who tow. There is the Q8 which is 5 seats but that’s even more money than the Q7, with less interior room. Of course you’ll go for a Q7 or Q8 if you want a flashy car but the Touareg still looks pretty good with plenty of presence, and really does have more to it than meets the eye, and thus much the best buy in my view - fully loaded mine was approx £71,000 after discount, and so doubt that it will cost any more depreciation-wise than any other premium German SUV I could have bought, with significantly less initial outlay and hence less money tied up in it.
£70k? Just get it on lease, far more flexible and minimal deposit vs PCP. I have a 72 plate Black Edition - 286 tdi - truly a “Golf GTI on steroid” as a fellow Piston Heads contributor has said.
I believe if you are any something in life and can afford it . Money no good in the bank all your life as the nursing home is likely to take it off you anyway in later life. Price new however is a lot so makes sense to buy a demo of possible.
Buy a Skoda Kodiaq and save £30k and you will have just as good a vehicle. Yes it won’t go as fast but in the UK they are forcing us to drive slower anyway.
The dumb trend for no spare tire, and last generation interior. @7:40 "used to them" is a polite way of saying poor design. After all, you can get used to a hand wound crank to start the vehicle. I never liked the asymmetric dash. My OCD just can't deal with it. Its the same if the rear window don't go all the way down.
Nice car but so overpriced compared to what is out there. So not going to buy one as much better options out there for the money they want. He is also comparing to BMW, AUDI, et al which it isnt.
So a 6000lb offroad monster is for "soyboys" The X5 has nothing on the Touareg when it comes to offroad capability. The X5 is really just a lifted 5-Series Touring whilst the Touareg is built more like a truck; at least that's how it was for the first gen Touareg. Also you're in America so you couldn't have driven the new Touareg since it's been discontinued there for well over 8 years. Stop lying bud

It's a mk 7.5 golf gti for me too. I might have to keep it forever as I've no idea what to replace it with.

I really love the integration of the huge screen. VW is the only brand that i know that does it like that👍

But all of audi q7 underpins are vw and its even written underneath on some parts so why pay the extra money?

It would be nice if they had standard climate control buttons in lieu of buttons for the traction or ride height control.
