hey thanks for these jeep videos. Just one quest about the regearing. Did you not have to buy a new carrier for the 4.88 gears? Ive been browsing around and find conflicting advice. It looks like you kept the same carrier. is that right?
Nobody wants to do it? 4.88s were the first thing on my mind after buying the Jeep 3 months ago. After getting some other important mods done first, I just ordered them last week. Did you not throw a locker in there while you had it apart?
Good thinking. You'll be happy with the re-gear. I regrettably did not toss a locker in-- I simply couldn't afford them at the time. Hopefully we'll toss some in soon!
I just regeared my 2016 wrangler to 4.88 as well. Mine is a 2 door,,, 3 inch lift with 35 inch mud tires. What a huge difference,,, I love it
It makes all the difference in the world! Wish I did mine sooner!
Hi there,Is it better on the hwy ?
@@JDCarsChannel hi there, are 4.88's good on the hwy or are 4.56 better ?
On Feb 10th I am doing the same. I have a 2015 JKU Sport (automatic), 35's & 2.5: Metalcloak lift. Going to 4.88
Awww yeahhh. That's gonna be one badass Jeep!
Does that front bumper work with factory fog lights? That's my determining factor on buying it

I’m curious and maybe I didn’t see it in the video, but what was the gear ratio before you went to 4.88?
Honestly do you regret not going 5.13 or would you stay with 4.88
Did you have to replace your front carrier in your d30 for the new gears?
Great question Anthony! We didn't have to replace the front carrier, just reused the stock one. It's still holding up well!
Just for 3.21 you need to replace it
Did you have to put in a new carrier for the Dana 30 in front?
New carrier bearings, yes. But no new carrier itself was required!
Also, love the video…it convinced me not to do it myself. lol
