For off grid living with a small solar set up this seems to work quite well. I’ve just made corn/bacon/spinach/cheese thingies. Very tasty. About 1/4 cup of batter or filling seems to work best.
Nice review. Your review stirred up a memory (could you hear the rocks hitting together?) and I went down cellar and found my vintage 1975 Hamilton Beach Little Mac 60 second burger machine with Joe Namath's picture on the box. I plugged it in and it still heats up. I found a commercial on RUclips and in it Broadway Joe said that it was great for cooking "anything that can go between 2 slices of bread". This is rectangular shaped and has 3 easily separated major pieces, the top that has the heating element (not immersible), the bottom that catches the grease (and can be immersed for washing) and a reversible grid for the center. Each of the 3 pieces have 5 inch long handles so you can open it without burning your fingers. The top heating element measures 4 1/2 inches square. The grid s burger side can handle a burger patty up to 4 1/8 inches in diameter and the sandwich side has a capacity of 4 1/4 inches square. The grid also has 8 drain holes to let grease to drain to the bottom half. The top half can be set on top of the bottom half with the heating side up to use as a small griddle if you want to fry an egg. It was a going away gift from my parents in late 1975 when I moved 6 hours away for a job and used it a lot for several months in the motel kitchenette before I went in with some other people into an apartment and didn't use it much after that. I remember loaning it to my youngest sister in law when she attended college and she returned it in good shape.
I just bought one of these mini griddles and I’m so glad I came across your video. Thanks for trying out different foods so we could get an idea of what we’re working with.
I thought mine wasn't heating right on top so I flip whatever I use it for after two minutes so the top gets brown, too. My waffle Dash gets evenly brown on both sides. I was glad to see that yours has more browning on the bottom, too. I like the smoothe surface to make flat keto breads.
POWER OUTAGE AND CAMP COOKING WITH YOUR PORTABLE SOLAR POWER STATION! I`m guessing these will work with 500+ watt solar power stations since these mini grills are 350 watts. I`m getting a couple for power outages and free solar cooking in my camper. I also have a 12 volt 100 watt mini rice cooker that works with even my small 300 watt power stations if they have 10 amp cigarette lighter ports and a 12 volt 120 watt immersion water heater for coffee cups that works too.
Thanks for reviewing this. Y’all are too cute. If my oldest son saw the part of the chocolate chip cookie he’d probably buy one and keep it in his room. I was cracking up though when y’all were talking about plugging it in your RV. I hope I don’t sound ugly because I don’t mean what I am saying next that way. Most RVs have full kitchens so we don’t have to cook our eggs over the campfire. My motorhome has everything my home kitchen has except for a dishwasher and some have those too. Although I did just get a Dash mini waffle maker because it wouldn’t take up much space in the RV. But I want a full carb waffle, not a Keto one. Thanks for the review.

I got mine today and I LOVE IT!!!! So much fun! I made hash browns and flour tortillas ;p. LOVE IT! especially because I live alone, and I didn’t want a big grill on my counter. This one packs away so easily and the plates are really non-stick. It didn’t even need the oil spray. Great little grill!
I just bought one myself and am impressed! I also found that so far, I have not had to use cooking spray, which can affect the texture you mentioned. 😉 I have since ordered the heart shaped waffle maker and am looking forward to more delicious creative fun!! The waffle maker was $12.99 on Amazon. Thanks ladies!!
Never underestimate the value of cute!!!! As a testament to how much I like cute I've got a garage full of it. Now if I just had 5 very large kitchens I'd be all set. Regardless, I see one of these in my future. How can I resist... Useful and cute. Great review girls.
Nice review, very well done. Good of you to cover three topics / tests in one review, that really helps for those on the fence. Just ordered one, thanks for the heads-up!
I have one of those and I absolutely love it. The perfect one serving maker. Cooks one egg,Small pancakes , cookies and is even great for a single hamburger patty.
Wife got one of these it is a waffle grill that made me smile. Made two waffles this morning first was perfect 2nd one to much batter. Next time I will put bacon bits in the mix. Thanks ladies for the great product yall are simply wonderful. By the way the wife is a fan also.
oh i like this i could use it around the kitchen, and i am always craving for some fresh baked cookies but hate heating the house up. its kinda hard for the tent camper to use when there isnt any electricity to plug into but for the RV'er it would work great. i have been thinking of getting a blackstone 17" gas griddle to use when camping they are only like $79 and you could use it at home on the deck too. decisions decisions. what another great review.
ken strampe They both have good uses one you can make your own McDonald's breakfast goodies you like instead of having to go through long drive thru and deal with the heat and rude ppl and a Blackstone you can cook a nice juicy steak with green peppers and onions and corn on the cob without worrying about having to put out the fire when grease drop through it..
Because of this video, I decided to buy my grand daughter the little Dash for her tenth birthday. I started to look around afterwards and found that Groupon has a set of three that includes one waffle maker and a grill. I decided to keep the little Dash and give my granddaughter the set of three that I purchased called the Mini Personal Griddle set which I bought in pink , yellow and blue. I compared the models and they are exactly the same.
It’s been over two years since I did the review but I think it was the Nestle Toll House cookie dough, the kind you cut yourself. I think I just played around with a few different size pieces to get the right size I wanted. Hope that helps.
Interesting. This is similar to the Red Copper 5 Minute Chef, but slightly smaller. This seems priced to sell, whereas the 5 Minute Chef was originally $40 (I believe it's $20 now), which I thought was overpriced. Nice video ladies.
@@IsaacNewton1966 nope, unfortunately not that easy. Things stick down the side, the bumps make it hard to really clean into them and I am uncertain how much water and where can be used.
It's like the old presto burger from the 70's! I used to cook all sorts of things in mine. I haven't used it in quite a while but it was still working fine last time I did.

Rosemary, Me too! Mine was a life saver. I got it as a wedding present and our first rental home had no hookup for gas or electric cooking stove. Until we could get a different house it was my cooking stove, LOL.
It looks like you have to flip the pancake and cookies over like you would on a normal griddle, doesn't appear the top gets hot enough to cook both sides at once. and now gotta get a Mini pancake turner (flipper/spatula) to fit the mini griddle :)
I absolutely *love* Dash small kitchen appliances! I use my Rapid Egg Cooker *all* the time. I really want their Rapid Cold Brew System, it's quite highly rated but it's $100 on Amazon and I haven't been able to bite the bullet yet, lol
A lot of college dorms won't allow any thing with out an automatic shut off, my daughters doest even allow toasters. She said her suite mates had several of the breakfast sandwich makers confiscated during inspection. So I'd guess this would be a no-go.
I am not a big fan of these little devices, but the review was very informative and may be a future gift for my nieces who love to cook but not old enough to be able to use the oven.
Great Idea! I really love to give gifts that are the same 'theme' so I will probably have this, the oven mitt, pancake mix, spatula to take it off and an apron for their birthday! Thank you for putting out great videos!
I’m single, and considering getting the Dash mini set of 3. Did you make your own cookie dough? You could make your own cookie dough, freeze and thaw and make 1 or 2 cookies for yourself.
bought 2 at the last Kroger Christmas sale for $2.50 each figuring id give them as gifts, tried one for omlettes, pancakes, even French toast. still have them on my counter! Bought the mini waffle maker a few weeks later for a little more, love it. For a crowd, no, but one or two people, its fine. Now think I will try the cookie from scratch dough
The Dash Mini Griddle? So it must be a griddle made to fit on the dash board of my car. Just what I've always wanted! Now I can make breakfast while driving to work in the morning!
I have cooked a burger on it. It does get hot enough for sure, the only thing I would recommend is using a leaner hamburger. I used an 80/20 and it was a little messy with all the grease.
Cool find! And another fine review. This is one of the first products I've watched a review on that has made me very tempted to buy one. I mean, at a mere 8 bucks (after coupon), it's a bargain. These kind of things rarely go for less than $19.99. I also looked up the Dash Mini Grill and it too, looks quite tempting for a quick burger. (I wonder if the griddle can make a burger too....although I would imagine you'd have to tip out the grease once or twice.) Thanks for the review and for likely costing me $8.
Better still, try making a hamburger on the griddle let me know how it goes........I'd rather just buy the griddle which seems more versatile overall. (btw, did John like the breakfast sandwich maker?)
You oughta put something underneath those cookers like that to catch your whoops on your countertop and plus it'll keep the cord from getting wet from the overflow..
Yum! I bought four of the waffle maker versions from homegoods ($7 I think.). Used two for a girls’ night ice cream waffle “bar” and gave the other two away at the end of the night. Now I’m debating...do I go buy a griddle one or use what I have for a waffle cookie?? : )
Now I want to try the waffle maker. Lol I have made a cookie on a waffle iron before, I think the griddle is better. I think you need another girls’ night. 😀
Late to the party here, but one of the best things to make in it (yes, I have one of these, actually, honestly, 5...seriously...don't ask)...little cornbread cakes. Get a box of Jiffy cornbread, make the recipe on the box, put one scoop of batter in it (the kind of scoop that slides a thing under it when you squeeze it to release) and let it go for 3 minutes or so and voila! My girls (3, ages 13 to 19) love these.
How much steam does this produce when you open the lid? I was thinking this would be great for my dorm room but I definitely don't want to accidentally set off a fire alarm...
2 of those cookies with Culver's Custard in between? I am dying here!!!!I may just have to get one of these just for that! Great video as always ladies, you rock!!!!
I have the panini maker (I meant to order the waffle maker). There is something called a chaffle (egg/cheese-keto item) that is very popular to make in these. Perfect size to heat an Aldi's sausage patty.
No on/off switch is a deal-breaker for me. Have to unplug it to shut it off? Have a popcorn machine like that and it makes a spark when I unplug it to turn it off. In Arizona where it is really hot and dry and we get little shocks/sparks just touching anything (our car, our fridge, door handles, etc; this is just not going to be anything I'll buy. George Foreman grills are the same MUST UNPLUG to shut off.
You’re right, I definitely don’t think this should be sent off with teens, (especially my busy teen) to take to college. She definitely will forget to unplug it! I will be keeping this to make restaurant style cookies. Yummy.
GREAT REVIEW AS ALWAYS! Had the same exact thoughts as you both did at the start of the video about the RV, dorm or a 1-2 person home even. But, the fact that there's not an automatic shut off & it's that Hot...I agree about the dorms. (Depends on the person using it though) Does it have times listed on how long to cook each item ? Wonder if it would work with a cinnamon buns in a can like the biscuits, or you could make mini frozen waffles, even maybe grilled cheese? Did the Egg 2Cent Chick Maker shut off automatically? ●Is Robyn done with her challenge? Rooting for you! #GoRobyn
I can't decide if I'm just really hard to impress or if you two are way too easy to impress, but judging by what I saw here, this one is not worth even the after coupon price for me. I'm thankful you gals did this because I probably would have purchased it if I'd come across it. So I love the video, I just don't think I agree with it. Maybe it's just because I didn't get to taste that cookie..lol...
LOL...I could tell...which to me is another drawback for this gadget...having to wait 5 minutes for a second one? I'd still never get one. The people at my house would line up with drooling lips and puppy dog eyes and they know I can't fight that combo..lol...

My girls (3, ages 13 to 19) love these.
Awesome, thanks!
How much steam does this produce when you open the lid? I was thinking this would be great for my dorm room but I definitely don't want to accidentally set off a fire alarm...
Not going to lie it's fairly steamy but a fan will dissipate it very well tbh. As long as the heat doesn't reach you should be fine.
Ordered and on it's way! Thanks for the thorough review.
Hope you like it!
Just a side note, I like your hair! ( the longer one) :) do you have a video on how to do your hair.
2 of those cookies with Culver's Custard in between? I am dying here!!!!I may just have to get one of these just for that! Great video as always ladies, you rock!!!!
That would be amazing!
totally getting this for the cookie! very coool
That’s perfect for my portion control! -or when I head of to college
Yes it is!
Great review. I like your style
I have the panini maker (I meant to order the waffle maker). There is something called a chaffle (egg/cheese-keto item) that is very popular to make in these. Perfect size to heat an Aldi's sausage patty.
I just reviewed the waffle maker and I did make a chaffle. It worked great!
You can easily modify the cord with a switch for a buck more! I did and it's twice as convenient!
HI! UrbanOutfitters has mini wafflemakers around the same size. It's popular maybe a year or more now. Cute find. Nice video :)
I saw those online! Very cute!
What kind of cookie dough did you use? It's been so long since I've had cookie carbs...I'm drooling!
That was just store bought cookie dough in the roll! So yummy!!
That mini griddle is super cute! I may have to pick one up. And, Cathy- I think I may have that exact same top you are wearing. Lol, great minds
Love it! 💕
I am literally going to get one tonight!! Thanks ladies
You’re welcome! Let us know how you like it.
I would use a oven glove to open it love it nice
Good idea!!
did u brought in amzon ?
Bed Bath and Beyond
No on/off switch is a deal-breaker for me. Have to unplug it to shut it off? Have a popcorn machine like that and it makes a spark when I unplug it to turn it off. In Arizona where it is really hot and dry and we get little shocks/sparks just touching anything (our car, our fridge, door handles, etc; this is just not going to be anything I'll buy. George Foreman grills are the same MUST UNPLUG to shut off.
Great review ladies & nice job using the coupon..
Thanks!
You’re right, I definitely don’t think this should be sent off with teens, (especially my busy teen) to take to college. She definitely will forget to unplug it! I will be keeping this to make restaurant style cookies. Yummy.
Remember Cathy don’t touch hot handle without oven mitts 😂😂😂😂😂great video by y’all
I learned my lesson! 🤪
Yeah Robin is back.
I’m here for all the product reviews! Only absent for the food reviews. For just 17 more days until I complete this challenge!
Awesome good luck on completing your challenge.
This little griddle really works 🤗
Why does Robin never taste anything?
She was on a diet when we reviewed that. 😀
I love your dress Robyn. Great review as always , lassies
Thank you!
This is a great review, just what I was looking for
I have one and love it.
#GoRobyn
Thanks for watching and for rooting me on!!! 2 more weeks left in the challenge-finale is 7/26!
I wouldn’t cook serious meat on it though, I have a george Forman grill for that. ☺️
You're having too much fun Cathy, being the taste tester lol :P :D
😁🍪
Cathy did you like the cookie? LOL great review girls!
I did! Could you tell? 😜
The cookie was sooo good! 😀
LOL...I could tell...which to me is another drawback for this gadget...having to wait 5 minutes for a second one? I'd still never get one. The people at my house would line up with drooling lips and puppy dog eyes and they know I can't fight that combo..lol...
The light goes off when it’s finished
wow cathy.nice
Hey would you girls ever visit Seattle? That's where I live. Hopefully something would strike your insurance
