Hi Chris, my 6 year old son discovered your MJ videos and now is learning techniques to sing through you. His favourite thing to do is make garageband tracks, he is a real music lover and you are helping him to discover and hone his musical ability. THankyou so much for inspiring him further. Much respect.
Thanks so much for your kind words! I don't do Patreon but if you want to support me AND take your voice WAY deeper you can visit my website and check out my courses :) Just checkout chrisliepe.com
Hey Chris, I've seen a lot of great vocal lessons on RUclips, but one thing really unique to you is how, as a guitar player, you've made the comparison to the human instrument. Usually when vocalists talk about tone, it's not the same as guitar players think of it. I now see, how character, percussion, tone, texture and dynamics are similar from vox to guitar. Thanks!
Finally I found a teacher that shows the sounds of the techniques!! Im jumping from teacher to teacher, but Im staying here! Thanks Chris Liepe! Great teacher!
This is hands down the best lesson on mixed voice on You tube. It explains exactly what I was doing wrong. I could already sing in the cat whine and yawn mix but now I am trying to get the bright chesty mix. Love it. Can't explain how good this lesson is!
I love it when you use words like imagen, energy, force and feeling. That means that you can visualize what you are doing, and doing a damn good job teaching us how to do it. Thanks 🙏🏼

Awesome. So many singers try to bypass this middle area because it can be very challenging and involves the entire body and mind. You have to train to sing in this middle area, move in and out of this area, and to able to sit in this area. A perfect example of sitting in this area is singing the Chorus in Toto's "Africa." It took me a long time to get that one section reasonably consistent.
Man I didn't think it was able to teach so well the way you do, through your approach. It's so intuitive and centers around feeling alot, which I love. I had never heard the terms cat (or dying cat) or yawn before your videos, so thanks!
Breakthrough again! My God you are a gold mine sir, that keeps giving. I have bought your paid course but I want to give you more, for your work and heart. Unbelievable content. Love Chris. May you be well. You give others life.
Man you're a genius I can't believe I have improved so much in just a short period of time. I already had some time singing, but I wasn't that good at thet moment of belting or putting a good tone, and thanks to you and your singing course I finally feel free while singing, and feel I'm actually improving, thank so much Chris, and I hope more people give you the chance to learn with your videos
Many thanks for this video. For the first time, I think I grasp it and managed to achieve my first 'belt with adding mix voice'. I've earmarked this video as a 'go to' for this subject and will keep on practising. Best wishes to you from the UK
Each and every video gets me excited I can't wait to be able to go through my entire range and just cruise through what ever notes I feel like without using unnecessary muscles to produce the sound. Thanks!
Thanks again Chris for another wonderful video lesson. I incorporated a ‘Robert-Plant-and she’s-buying’ to my exercise and i had the most comfortable g#4 the other day.
I LOVE YOU. YOU HAVE MADE ME BELT A CHESTY D#5!!!!AND THE BEST PART IT DIDN'T EVEN HURT A LITTLE!!! THE KEY ALL ALLONG WAS ADDING COMPRESSION TO MY ALREADY WELL DEVELOPED HEAD VOICE
Hey I'm new in singing since two months. I'm beggining to grow my head voice, because I have a really underdevelopped one, do you think once I'd have developped a better one, I would be able to mix higher ? my highest note in head voice is C#5 and I struggle to do it, but my highest belt was A#4 2 days ago. Is it possible to grow head voice to like E5 or G5 ?
How to use your belting mixed voice to sing high notes like Sebastian Bach next please ? Songs like I Remember You and 18&Life. 😎😎 Love your videos man! Your amazing and helping me so much. Keep it up!
I feel like I learned mixed voice first and head voice A LOT later in life. That’s why I’ve been singing on head voice several months everyday. I do it mainly because I like it so much, it’s like therapy
With both techniques, cat sound and the yawny way, I'm able to get the gritty belts in both linkin park and slipknot songs. And reliably. Fucking amazing. Fucking amazing Chris.
Dude I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on vocal lessons. Been singing for 15 years. The videos on your Chanel have changed everything. Thank you so Fucking much
I've only developed my belt for probably around 15 years, and I feel like I'm just now learning to use mixed voice 🥲 I only ever had high notes when I was perfectly rested/hydrated. Otherwise, I just always battled vocal fatigue.
You've really been nailing all of the stuff I'm working on lately, and it's been greatly helpful. THANK YOU! 🤘🏼🔥 Sliding up and down (legato style) on the scale is relatively easy. Now, how does one hit specific notes, say jumping by thirds. More like what happens in many songs. A great example I'd like to see you demonstrate is in the chorus of Alter Bridge's, Blackbird.
Oh, sh*t! I almost always sing with belt in my upper-chest register (surely I make sound softer when it's necessary), but I've never tried to do that in my mixed voice... And I always have been surprised why that sound is so weak and thin. It's amazing, as much as this idea is ingenious, it is just as obvious. Thank you so much for giving this point, now I feel like I'll make a bigger progress.
I REALLY love these videos... One suggestion, maybe? When referring to your past videos, would it be possible to include the link in the description? You have a LOT of videos, and it'd be awesome to go straight to the video. Just a suggestion - keep rockin!
Very interesting lesson. Looking forward to start your course! Could you review the singing style of Matt Shadows (avenged sevenfold)? He uses a lot of belting + grit over mix voice. The Stage song could be a good example. Thanks for your awesome vids!
Hey Chris, I have a few suggestions for your "how to sing like..." videos. Bon Jovi, especially their older stuff like Santa Fe, Miracle etc. Nothing More (Johnny Hawkins), I especially like their This is the time and I'll be ok songs. Black stone cherry has some interesting distortion or grit or something, I can't identify it correctly. Songs like Born to die, Change, Me and Mary Jane are good examples.
feel my love by Adele is an example of where you can use your head register. “ I know you haven’t made your mind up yet , but I will never do you wrong” instead of belting that line. Try using your head voice and cross over to chest. This does take a lot of practise and it will expand your vocal range.using chest voice for belting can be really bad in the long run and you can damage your voice.
I paid SingingSuccess $190.00 for vocal mix CD training and NOTHING! NO RESULTS! Just a lot of big words and creepy whispering. -- CHRIS YOU ONLY TOOK 15min TO IMPROVE ME DRAMATICALLY!! THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Hey Chris. Thanks for another great video! Do you think you could cover head voice development? I havnt been able to improve that on my own, especially range.
Hey, Chris, I love your videos for you really show the process of finding the feeling and sound instead of just talking. I wonder if you want your videos dubbed to russian. @@chrisliepepretty much nothing but me translating your videos) we can try starting with me making subs to one of them (you choose which) If it works fine, we'll see what's next
Chris this is one of the most enlightening videos you've done before! Thanks a lot! I've been watching your videos and learning with you. I have a quick question: Is the mix range something you slowly conquer, like pushing the high notes one by one, practicing to expand it, or is it a body configuration that almost instantly allows you to cover that range with more presence? Thank you again!
The short answer is... BOTH... haha. It is a muscle memory position that once trained will allow you to break through your ceiling in amazing ways, but learning to use it consistently and tastefully does take a lot of time and is a continuing journey... although enjoyable :)
Thank you so much for these videos man 💙 Have you thought about making a video aboust a basic onset. I'm trying to do all these things but i can't make a basic correct sound I feel like. When I see you sing everytime you make an onset your stomach moves in and I can't do that. Something about even airflow maybe ? Thank you in advance !
Hey Chris, just to clarify, let’s say my highest comfortable chest belt is an E. I’ve tried to compensate for higher notes with a mix, however, the most comfortable lowest note in my mix register is a B, anything lower is likely to crack. So is this the video intended to bridge that gap to hit the notes between the E and B powerfully without strain?
Hey Chris. I’m starting to get better at developing my mixed voice. I’m now able to hit notes more frequently rather than something I’ll only hit once in a while. However, they still sound a little strained and is still in the process in sounding more powerful. I came back to ask about the mixed voice warm-up. I found that using the “yawning” method working a little better for me than the “dying cat” one. I wanted to ask do you recommend I stick with using the yawning method for my warm-ups or is it better to still use both approaches? I also wanted to ask through time, will those stained high notes become more comfortable for me to sing to the point that I can reach even higher notes later on the more I push through? I know it might sound a little silly but keep in my mind I never took my singing seriously until just under a month ago. However, In just these past few weeks, I’ve learned and improved so much just from watching a lot of your videos already. Keep it up and I wish you the best, Chris. I don’t know what would happen if you weren’t around to inspire people to sing at a faster rate. I would also love to have a shoutout from you for my progress in my singing by singing the song “Your Love” by The Outfield from now (which I recorded an awful snippet of me singing it) to how I’ll sound a few months later. Again, thanks for everything Chris 😌😌😌
Hey Chris! Don’t know if you’ll see this since it’s an older video, but what do recommend for a shaky mix voice? In watching your videos, I’ve started to develop a good mixed voice, but recently I noticed that when I’m trying to sustain long notes there’s an unintentional vibrato that happens. I‘ve dialed in my support but still seem to struggle with it. I’d love to hear your input! Thank you for the wonderful videos!!
My range is E2 (D#2 on a good day) to e4 (f4 on a good day). I guess Im a low baritone but I can easily hit an f#5 in head voice reliably or a high G if I really push. I tried mixing looking at your video around g3 and onwards but I still sound very “heady” and Im not quite sure what to do....
Embrace the “run for the border” Chris Cornell sound to start with! From my mixed voice video. Stop thinking about what the pitches are. Just go for it without the mental burden of “can I hit THAT note”
I appreciate you doing this for free. You do it for the sake of the art, and not so much for a quick buck. God bless! 👍🏻
Probably the toughest lesson I experience is dealing with the way the wife looks at me when I'm making all these sounds in my studio or shower! I definitely need to develop a thicker skin or a don't give a s*** attitude about how I'm perceived by others.

Yes, this video will help with that!! Also, you can check out this one for more: ruclips.net/video/t_wju9Numnk/видео.html
how about a breakdown of Jeremy Jordan?
I really loved that song at 1:32. Is that a Chris's song?
It's just something I made up for the intro of the video :) Not a real song. Glad you liked it!
@@chrisliepe So sad, i really liked it. I was repeating that part all the time haha. Love your vids! You're helping a lot of people in their singing.
Always practice as many approaches as you can while being intensely introspective with your practice sessions!
