    The tip on placing the vowel sound forward is something I wasn't aware of at all. This is a huge shift in the way I have been going about it with trying to create as much power and tone from the back of my throat, neck and tongue muscles. I can tell from your example that by placing vowels forward and mentally shifting the pitch to the front of your mouth on how clear and bright the notes get as the pitch is worked on and raised. Very cool. I am learning something every video and a lot from your "Discover Your Voice" course. Thanks, Chris!

    Well, I'm a baritone, a tenor told me baritono verdiano (agile) but I always stuck between regular baritone two octave from G2 to G4, sometimes an A4... Today, after a lifetime I sing I reached a B4!!!! And was good, full! Thanks a lot for your videos!!

    Si tratas de cantar estas sílabas en notas altas con la misma sensación de chest voice pero haciéndolo más alto acabarás tensando 11:10, porque he formado esa sílaba en la parte de atrás de mi garganta 11:37. Hay que cantar la sílaba hacia adelante (12:15), así la parte de atrás de mi garganta está libre para cantar notas altas independiente de la forma o postura de mi lengua, sin bloquear el flujo del aire con la parte de atrás de mi lengua, sin tensar el cuello ni la cara porque no quiero referenciar cuando formé esa vocal en mi chest voice

    Really cool idea of separating vowel placement from tone. There are certain songs that I can always sing and they seem to lead me to really rich tones even in ascending passages that cross the breaks, but other times I feel things shutting down. I’m just starting to discover how to relax through the break from head to falsetto and open things up and get the kind of resonant timbre I hear from my favorite singers. Thanks!

    Chicken clucking composure...hahahah! Great talk. A detail I noticed is the soft palate. It's the gateway to all the little resonating chambers in the skull that allow high harmonics to be loud. It's like the tone knob in the back of the nose and the top of the back of the mouth. I find that bad technique for high notes involves singers, myself included before I discovered this makes the upper notes of their range sound like a stretch instead of soaring effortlessly. High strings are tighter, sure. But the only place that tightens for clear high notes is the place in the vocal folds making the primary tone. Everything else has to relax around it or the tone knob will turn all the highs down, and you're stuck in the chest stretching for things you could fly into by opening the tone knob. And thanks for the detail on face tension. I just now discovered my tendency to tense face when going for squeak range up above soprano. Tension in my head is in fact what pulls me back to my lower notes. The soft palate is really sensitive, so with a tense face it responds in kind, shutting off your tone knob and you're stuck in the mud.

    • @cafe.cedarbeard
      @cafe.cedarbeard 2 года назад +1

      Guitar or piano, dulcimer, etc: if the wood tightened in phase with the tightening of the tuning keys stretching the strings up to the high notes it would explode. Our throats are much softer than wood, but the concept applies. The vocal folds are the string, everything around it is the resonating box. Instead of the wood exploding, you just kill your range and high harmonics.

    One of your best. I prefer it when you stay off the computer and do this sort of focused technique video. In addition to proper breath support, the thing I’ve noticed improves my tone and my ability to transition to head voice is keeping my soft palate raised. Early on, my soft palate would get tired and sore. Now it’s strong enough I don’t have to think about it and it doesn’t get tired.

    The most important part of the video for me starts at 11:00. Muscle memory for notes and vowels in the chest and transferring the note up without releasing the chest anchor!
