    Great lesson! This is what vocal teachers are trying to construe when they say "sing from your diaphragm". Explaining how things are supposed to feel helps so much...awesome channel!

  • @MultiBadboy666
    @MultiBadboy666 Год назад +7

    Oh, I think I finally get it now. So when we sing a phrase, the support muscles kind of dip, flex, and relax constantly to push the air upwards. I used to just constantly push air upwards without using those muscles like this; basically, I just locked them in place without those dips and blew a continuous stream of air always. It sounds much better and feels more natural like this. Thanks a lot.

Im not doing songs not doing words for the next good while, focusing only on developing proper diaphragmatic support. .. in about a month or two I’ll put up a before and after… That’s how confident I am with how much better it’s sounding. i’ve had singing lessons for just under 2 years now and feel like
    i’m not making much progress. i’m not very confident in myself to try and perform to anyone but i’ve always wanted to. i’m specifically interested in more rock/metal vocals and learning screams and growls. i’m specifically wanting to sound most like Oli Sykes of bring me the horizon. i have been watching loads of your videos recently and they have helped me gain so much information and also some confidence to try out different things. when i try practicing by myself, i sometimes feel like i hold back a lot because i’m a bit anxious of what i might sound like, or if I’m too loud for others to hear me. i’m going to continue watching more of your videos, thanks so much for these!

    Just felt obligated to comment. After finding the right feeling to engage the lower abs, it feels like the air flows effortlessly and much more rich. The difference in singing a song I was already comfortable was unbelievable. Another songs are not that easy to make this transition, maybe because my brain is already used to the wrong way. Now the objective is to relearn how to talk and sing to always engage like this hahahaha. Chris Liepe, you are amazing!

  • @jcepri

    The way i understood how it's supposed to feel when I have the best support is to sing a scale up and down while doing a sit up and try to maintain the same volume on the way up and down. Once you get the feeling, it's not difficult. It's so important to know what the diaphragm is and how it operates.

    Dude - It's possible you've just changed my life by watching not even five minutes of your video. There's something about the way you imparted this info that just changed everything about the way I sing.
    I'm totally going to finish this vid and watch loads more of yours, but I've been busy preparing for a show I just had this past weekend. Usually after a 30 minute set, I'm fried and have burtn the top (and almost all) of my voice. Even though I came down with a cold on the day of my gig, I still got through the set and had barely hurt my voice at all. I was hitting higher notes I usually strain for after a couple of songs, right the way to the end of my set and was told by someone I trust that it's the best she's ever heard me sing.
    Usually, if I read what I've just written on a website, I'd completely dismiss it as a fake advert, but dude... THANK YOU. Can't wait to learn more.

    I got a hang of diaphragm breathing but there was much more to it. I got a coach and I started leaning into the sound and feeling it. Believe me I felt it when I did. I just figured out where it was coming from and man... I just started laughing my ass off. You have to maintain focus there, but you know what that spot actual is in esoteric terms? It's Kundalini energy. I did meditations focusing on that. The energy literally rises naturally. I wish you all the best Chris. The right spot is no where near the voice. In fact the total opposite.

    I sing karaoke Friday night I tried Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis Presley I've been listening to Chris for about 4 weeks I used all the techniques he was telling me but this one that he just done about the power is going to let me expand a perfect that song they said it karaoke I was at eighty-five 90% and it was only a second time that I tried that song in the last 3 weeks but this power technique it's going to take me over the edge to where I need to be thank you Chris and I shared it with one of the karaoke singers Friday night and got him hooked up with you on your tutorials on RUclips I'm figuring out the vote The Voice is like you said should be the last thing if you can learn these techniques on how to breathe and how to sing higher even higher than what you normally would it put you at ease because your vocal cords are muscles as long as you keep exercising even at higher Rangers or notes then when you're singing lower it's a piece of cake and you can feel it in your neck and throat if you pay attention like Chris tells you thank you again Chris

    Hi Chris,
    First of all thank you for the great videos, you helped me go from a simple deathcore vocalist to a diverse singer in less than a year's time. I developed a base for clean singing and proper screams fit for a modern metalcore band. We're currently working on our first EP. It's going to be amazing, but I really want to do pitch screaming and powerful distorted/compressed singing on the tracks, but I am afraid that I wont be able to pull it off, because something just doesn't feel right. Looking forward to watching a video for this or getting any tips!

      Awesome! Thanks for introducing yourself DHML! I've done a course with my friend Spencer Sotelo from Periphery and we dive DEEP into powerful distorted/compressed singing as well a lots of other vocal production things. Here's a link if you'd like to check the course out further: www.mymusicalvoice.com/p/make-vox-total-destroy-bundle

    Chris! great thank you! You clarify many important things in your video - found you a month ago - you tips are working! You explain very simple and your examples very nice - this video is about support...how many years I have been looking for a normal advice with examples, pretty and not. Continue this way!

    It's called Kapalbhati in YOGA, What you are demonstrating. Many breathing Yogas help a lot in singing.
