Bruce you have such a wonderful way of teaching. I can easily see your fingers and strings. To me the instrumental Diamond Head is a "Hip"surf tune. I had a bunch of Ventures albums back in the 70's. Also I'm a lefty and that makes it easier to follow your hand motion.
Bruce, Thanks for a great video and instruction. Question, at 9:15 are you doing D on the 3rd with a pull off, then C on the 3rd followed by A on the 4th? What is the sequence? How are you muting? Help thanks
Rob Harring Hi Rob, Your questions are a call for tabs. Sort of like... "a picture is worth a thousand words". I can get myself lost trying to explain in words. I'll have to put this (tabs) on my list and post on a new video. Thank you!
Bruce Lindquist Thanks for the reply Bruce, that little portion is the only part I'd need tabs for, personally I like watching your finger placements and instruction more than tabs to learn the song, I just can't seem to get that small section down, again, much thanks.
Any chance you could do a lesson on the Venturesʻ "Changing Tides"? Itʻs my favorite surf tune, but I just canʻt figure out the licks. Great videos--especially the surf guitar. Keep it up!
I am watching your lesson and I am hearing a lot reverb,. Bruce could show your amp and/or pedals configurations so we could set ours to closely resemble your settings.
Robert, unfortunately I don’t have a record of the settings. This video was made years ago. I was probably using my Fender Yale amp with reverb set at medium high.
i dont mean to step on yur toes good sir but aint the opening E and G and not F and G# cuz if you open in f you would have to play in A# just my 2 cents
Bruce, many thanks for covering all those '60s surf tunes...
