2004-2005 I was a big diamond head fan. My friend did some research and found Brian was teaching guitar. We found his phone number and called him. He was so cool. He spent 30 minutes chatting with us about guitars. Brian rocks !
Little-known fact: Metallica's "Black Album" which was housed in a plain black cover was in homage to Diamond Head's original "Lightning To The Nations" album which came in a plain white cover.
I remember seeing the flying V for the first time as a kid, mind blowing. When saw the price tag I felt offended 😅I was just a kid, no way I could afford one. I just stuck to my Japanese guitars. 25 years later, I still get offended when I look at the price tags.
Incredible Brian - guitar hero of mine since I was a kid. Bought the White album after discovering songs off Garage inc as I was a huge Metallica fan in my teens and I loved the Diamond Head tracks that I hunted down the white album lightning to the nations fell in love with all of it
I had one of the white sleeved albums that I later read was Lightning To The Nations.. Those early gigs must've really impressed! I sold it many years later to a Metalica fan for a goodly amount, but sometimes regret it. I must dig out some photos from those gigs.
Awesome...I'd love to see you explain some of the more adventurous tone, chords and solos from "Canterbury"...Knight of the Swords, The Kingmaker, and the insane, gloriously weird chordage of Canterbury.
BRIAN PLS DO THE SAME WITH TRUCKIN. I tried learning by ear but some parts are difficult to hear. Death and Progress is very underrated for being such a fucking good álbum

Just brilliant melodic solo from 4:04 till 5:04 Just British old school steel. Thanks a lot.
Man this absolutely insane, I was literally just practicing this song just a few hours ago and this shows up, thank you so much Brian!

Brian Tatler is a legend! A RIFF-MAKER GENIUS !!!
Nice one Brian. Still got the original vinyl album with plain white sleeve. Had to get it mail order back in the day !
Yeah, I've got that too. Loved the band back in the day...what an album. Iconic.
always loved this solo because of the descending bit
Thanks Brian. I still have your Play It Loud single on a 45. Your music was part of the soundtrack to my teenage years...and I still listen now.
I gotta ask. Is it the Play It Loud Live version with In The heat of the night on the other side or another one?
Just redicovring Diamond Head 40 years after getting into heavy metal why oh why didnt we go crazy at the time .Great band ,live on.
I always loved that second solo! Thank you
Now THIS is rock'n roll....damn, to call his performance awesome is an understatement !

One of the most underappreciated riffs in the history of rock & roll.
The main riff has such outrageous amounts of swagger
Thanks Brian! I love all the stuff you've done
Legendary and timeless!
Great song and amazing performance
You kick ass, Brian! What a great album Lightning To The Nations is!
Great stuff.
Diamond Head's best song.
Brian awesome as always!
Other metal generes, and scenes, came and went, for me at least. I still LOVE the NWOBHM.
Just when you think life can't get any better, God himself is teaching guitar on RUclips.
Wow. I love it !
Do Helpless!!! I listen to that song off the 2020 album everyday at my job! Its brilliant and sounds so much better than Metallica's version!
You gotta try the 1980 version, in my opinion the vocals are even more expressive and intense
Awesome...I'd love to see you explain some of the more adventurous tone, chords and solos from "Canterbury"...Knight of the Swords, The Kingmaker, and the insane, gloriously weird chordage of Canterbury.
Brian is the best, thank you

The best and most influential band of the NWOBHM and if anyone tells you otherwise they're in Iron Maiden.

Decent band, put out two amazing albums, then went to shit lol
I'm referencing maiden with that comment, just to be clear. Hammered and trying to learn this solo woooo!!!!

Admired by Metallica, hired from Saxon....Brian must ne a genius.....cool
The son of Michael Schenker and the father of Metallica. 6:03
Indeed i thought on Michael, too
That guitar solo clearly influenced Dave Mustaine cause his lead guitar playing in Metallica days sounds exactly like this.
That’s what I call real playing not this shit nowadays
Cheers from morocco 🇲🇦
F!
Made my day dude.
lol!
Never let Metallica cover your music, because they'll do it better than you
Don’t be an asshole dude
Metallica did it way better
