Absolutely love Brian Tatler the guy is the world's most underrated guitarist of all time he is a true student of the instrument and composed the most amazingly heaviest riffs that were well before their time the solo in Am I Evil is a true classic right up there with anything done by Clapton,Page,Iommi but it's true awesomeness lies in the emotion it's played with its not 1000 miles per hour fast shred shred shred it has depth and character and not only fits in the song nicely it adds to the song and really rounds it out as a whole, thoroughly enjoyed watching him play it in this clip you can see the immense pleasure it gives him when he plays it still to this day and the tonal qualities of the guitars on the 2020 version are wicked insane the man really knows how to dial in the tones he's after its super heavy with a ton of bite yet every individual note retains its clarity in my eyes Brian Tatler is what Kirk Hammett aspired to be but just ever so slightly missed the mark I hope Brian and Diamond Head release more albums of freshly composed material in the very near future each to their own and everyone has their Rock God it just so Happens my Rock God's name is Brian Tatler a phenomenal guitarist who was well ahead of his time! Thank you Brian for giving me the passion for the instrument, for sharing your music which has gotten me thru some really tough times in life and been there thru the best times of my life and your easy going laid back nature has made the tutorial videos you've done easy to follow and learn from what can I say you're an awesome human being 😊🤘

Nice, i remember learning this song by ear the first time i listened to it, then by watching Metallica play it live and now i get to go through it all over again with the creator himself.
    Thanks Mr Brian.

I saw DiamondHead support Thin Lizzy when I was 18, and DiamondHead were the better band. Brian was on fire

Brian Tatler , a guitar great. A bit intrigued why between 1984 and 1994 he aged in looks about 30 years.

Got into Metallica in early 1987, 7th grade. A friend let me borrow the Elektra re-release of 'Kill 'Em All' in the fall of 1988, I think it came out in anticipation of 'Justice'. I loved all the tunes on it, especially 'Four Horsemen'.
As the year went on, I gravitated more and more towards 'Am I Evil?'. At some point, it became this weird pattern of listening to 'Four Horsemen', flipping the tape, fast forwarding through 'Metal Militia', listening to 'Am I Evil?', flipping the tape, fast forwarding through 'Hit the Lights', and starting all over again.
In the summer of 1989 we flew to England, the entire trip I listened to almost exclusively 'Am I Evil?', play + rewind, play + rewind, etc. I focused on the fast half of the song, especially the solo. It was a rush listing to the solo as the plane landed and took off.
About a year later, I figured out that this was actually a cover, not a Metallica original. Because of the success of 'Justice' (I think), some older NWOBHM stuff was getting new traction, and an older Diamond Head compilation 'Behold the Beginning' made its way on to the shelves of our little record shop in 1989, complete with liner notes from Mr. Ulrich. I recognised the band's name from the 'Kill 'Em All' liner notes, and was please to discover other great tunes Metallica had covered, 'Helpless' and 'The Prince'.
Anyway, Diamond Head's first album is amazing, and I'm shocked to not see it on more 'best metal albums of all time' lists, it was *clearly* a huge influence.
Very pleased to see this video.
