  • 3rd time filming at Worcester Foregate Street on the Cotswolds Line and also marking 5 years since I began my channel.
Featuring Great Western Railway and West Midlands Railway services and also this time it was wet conditions as well.
Worcester Foregate Street first opened by the Great Western Railway on May 17th 1860 is the smaller of the two stations that serve the city of Worcester with the other being Worcester Shrub Hill which opened on October 5th 1850 originally by the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton and Midland Railways is situated to the east.however more of the central area.
Worcestershire Parkway opened on February 24th 2020 is located the furthest away outside the city to the south east served by Great Western Railway trains on the Cotswolds Line and CrossCountry Trains hourly services from Cardiff Central to Nottingham.
Worcester Foregate Street itself eventhough has 2 platforms however it's not as a conventional double track style as some will expect of any normal 2 platform station
The two platforms here have been two single platforms since 1973 operating a two way working system which is explained by the Warning signage at the Western end of both platforms ‘Two way working on both Lines’
Platform 1 trains used mostly by Great Western Railway services via Worcester Shrub Hill whilst Platform 2 used by West Midlands Railway trains via Droitwich Spa
The station was last updated back in 2014 which included a new subway link, two new station entrances, re-siting of the station lift for the 2nd entrance being enclosed in the station building as well as repainting and re-strengthening of the bridge that both single lines cross heading west after leaving the station and also one of the railway arches nowadays is a bike shelter.
West Midlands Railway as the sub brand of West Midlands Trains provide services either terminating from Dorridge or Whitlocks End via Birmingham Snow Hill and also operate through services to Hereford from Birmingham New Street.
For Great Western Railway's terminating services from London Paddington via Platform 1 then proceed Empty stock through Worcester Shrub Hill and then reverse into either Worcester Hereford Sidings or Back Road
However before the return back to London Paddington most times they pass through Worcester Foregate Street to a siding controlled by Henwick signal box located west of the station however if late it can be started immediately from Platform 1 to make up lost time before heading back to London Paddington.
In the western direction most services do continue on to Great Malvern and only about 3 trains a day continue on beyond to Hereford.
Other GWR services originating from Weymouth, Southampton Central or Brighton via Westbury, Bristol Temple Meads, Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa since the timetable change in May 2022 mostly terminate at Worcester Foregate Street.
Today whilst most of semaphore signalling on the UK Rail network is gradually being phrased out however for now the Semaphore Signalling at Worcester Foregate Steeet is still intact being controlled by 3 signal boxes at Henwick, Worcester Shrub Hill and Tunnel Jn.
Whilst Times maybe change more and more as digital technology continues to evolve as time goes on
Although the semaphore signalling days are numbered on the UK rail network but in the case of the Worcester Area itself whether it does get replaced in the future by modern day signalling well only time will tell.

Top video great atmosphere. I have a quistion the track is not electrified but I see a GWR "azuma". This train is electrified isn't it? Does it run on batteries on this track or am I wrong? Thank you.for the video.
    John.

Correct the track is non-electrified and also the GWR IET (Intercity Express Train) not a Azuma because thats used for the 800 and 801 Fleet on LNER
At present all GWR IETs on non-electrified tracks as well as the West Midlands Railway services all run on Diesel Power.

At 1:20 and later I think you mean Droitwich, rather than Dorridge

Nope its Dorridge the destination because all West Midlands Railway trains all go via Droitwich Spa.
Dorridge is on the Chiltern Main Line which WMR Trains go via Birmingham Moor Street for that with the only exception being Hereford services they go from Birmingham New Street
