This is just a general FYI. You can get 4 nine inch squares out of a fat quarter instead of two 10" squares. Most basic blocks don't need 10" squares. You can use 9" instead.
April, I have watched your videos for some time now. I just love your spirit and enthusiasm. My favorite part (other than the content, of course) is your hand gestures in the beginning when you are "in my craft room." It looks like you enjoy that part, too.
Like your snowball blocks & your stars shine through! Think I would have used a thin darker solid strip between blocks & border then repeated same color as the binding. But, thats me & you're April...do your thang girl! Love you videos. No chocolate? Haven't had any since Valentines day😢😊😅
I do like the quilt, BUT, it needed a small neutral inner border to break up the eye candy. Maybe you should cut a few yards of 2" x wof of a grunge white for future inner borders (using your Shape Cut of course).
April, you did it again! I, too, am using 10" squares cut from FQs. I am making sashed 9 patches that I am going to "disappear." I was lamenting the loss of the 8 or so inches left from cutting the squares. Thanks for the reminder to make a strip pieced border. Love your quilt and the fabrics. 😊❤
Beautiful fabrics. I like your easy patterns. I have a ton of fat quarters. I am always looking for ways to use them without making half square triangles.I have a problem with angles in general. Thank you for sharing your creations.
Great quilt, and yes I love grunge also. Happy to see the fabric u bought. PS I loved that large cactus panel u had, I had to buy one. I have a huge panel that is a big tent, and going to fussy cut the cactus at the side of the tent. Happy quilting and belated Valentines Day, and I know u had some chocolate to celebrate!!!
It's a God send. I bought the original 12" x 12". It has both the whole and half inch lines. If you need a ton of 2.5" squares, just line up a bunch of jellyroll strips, put your rotary cutter in the slots, and away you go. It'll take more time to set up the fabric than to cut the strips. Go online and see what else it can do (45 and 60 degree lines included too).
What is your quilt wall made out of so that your quilt pieces stick? I love that idea. I enjoy watching you. You make me smile and warm my heart. I especially let us see your bloopers! Thanks so very much!!
My design wall is in my unfinished basement. So my husband had the idea to cover insulation board with flannel fabric and hang is on the studs so it looks like a wall.
I love this so much I want to make a Christmas and st Patricks day prints ooh and the left over I can make a throw for spookley ❤ you are awesome April
I like how you use your long Creative Grids ruler to stabilize the flimsy June Tailor Shape-Cut. I've always had lots of slippage when cutting with the Shape-Cut. Made me start dreaming of the Creative Grids version, but ouch! on the cost. You have me thinking about the Shape-Cut again (buying with a coupon, of course). Our charity group has a Shape-Cut to use in our meetings; I will try it your way to see if it works for me. Thanks, April.
Hi April, Oh I really like this quilt top! As always good job! Could you have sewn a second line on each snowball so when you cut them off you’d have an already made HTS block? I may thinking of something different idk. 🙄 Anyways, I loved it!! The colors are awesome!! ❤
I think the stars would shine more if you made the lighter colors snowballed and the darker ones in between. At any rate it’s a great idea. Thank you.😊❤
Hi Have you considered getting a Brother Scan N Cut 325, it is amazing fast, accurate. And a game changer. I got one for Christmas and it is amazingly easy to operate and use.
Just a thought...When you mark your "sew on the line" line, mark a second parallel line 1/2 inch away. Sew on both lines. You can continue to chain the next block, sewing 2 lines on each one. Then, when you cut "the excess" away from your snowball, you cut between the 2 sewn lines. (1/4 inch remains on each side when you cut down the middle) Your "excess" is now a useable already done smaller half square triangle ready for another project! I do this whenever I can. (I am not a fan of setting/sewing little triangles one at a time!) What a timesaver for the next scrappy project!
Hey, April! Just catching up with some videos I’d missed. Looks good! I mistakenly thought that you were going to make a ‘stretched’ star quilt where EVERY square had only 2 opposite corners snowballed. I’ve been considering using the stretched snowball version (it’s 5” blocks) for a fundraising quilt for my;local hospice.
Loved the fabric you used in your project. We're they a recent purchase. I would love to get some of the beaded humming birds, the dream catchers, and the beaded turtle. Can you tell me where I can get those or the name of li e and maker? I just love your videos.
Thank you. 😊. I got my fabric at Odegaard’s in Flagstaff Arizona. Give them a call. They will be happy to help you find what you are looking for. The link to their website is in the video description. April
what brand is the chaco ace pen??? Not finding it on amazon and you have the brand covered. Thanks and I "really" enjoy your videos! Like the borders also. :~)
Two comments: 1) If you sew a second seam one-half inch outside the marked line on your snowball corners, when you cut off the bottom two layers, half way between the two seams, you will have 60 pre-made HSTs for a future project. 2) Many people on RUclips caution that you should sew that snowball seam 1 or 2 threads to the outside of the drawn line just to be sure the remaining triangle covers the corner and you don't end up with a block that isn't exactly 10" square.
This is just a general FYI. You can get 4 nine inch squares out of a fat quarter instead of two 10" squares. Most basic blocks don't need 10" squares. You can use 9" instead.
You are right! Great tip ❤
But then shenwouldn'tnhave had the strips for the sides?
❤️
You are amazing and I enjoy your videos
I would use the blue
It's so nice to follow someone who admits when she's made a mistake. Lovely quilt April!
I have that June Taylor cutting thingy, but I rarely remember to use it 😅.
There was only one perfect person and he is gone now. 😉
@@juliatepe5760 I am going to make an effort to remember it because it makes it way easier. LOL
love this one! The scrappy border is perfection - really pulls everything together.
April, I have watched your videos for some time now. I just love your spirit and enthusiasm. My favorite part (other than the content, of course) is your hand gestures in the beginning when you are "in my craft room." It looks like you enjoy that part, too.
It makes me feel magical. LOL
I like it ….. and a quilter will find the stars! ❤
lol!!! Yes, Di will get you for certain! lol! Yes, press, press, press- makes pieces look their best! Lol❤😊
lol
Love the colors, I have a full dresser drawer of fat quarters. You inspired me to dig in my stash
Your snow balls made nice Butterflies ❤❤
Thank you! 😊
I didn’t even see the butterflies. Thank you for pointing that out. 😀
Beautiful job, April! Love how you show us your creative process, change your mind, and the results are delightful! Loved the border!!!
Thank you so much!
Blue love it

I love the suggestions!

I really like it! It is so colorful and fun!
Thank you so much!

Love the colors- so pretty! Like the blue grunge and would have added a thin outside border before the scrappy border. Like how it turned out!
I thought about doing that but I couldn’t figure out what color to use.
Thanks April. Always fun videos. I turn my snowball corner around& sew a half inch away from the center seam to get bonus HSTs.
Wow. Thank you. Excellent suggestion and way to salvage what might be a scrap.
@@aprilscraftroom it's not an original idea but once I saw this technique I was hooked. Who doesn't love a 2 for 1!
cool to see the hubster too!
Yeah. He was unusually interested in how the blocks were arranged. He needs a hobby so I was trying to encourage him to 😉
I love the stars! I wish they stood out more.
I love grunge! Great blender!
Blue for the sashing
You have a Missouri Star t-shirt on today!!!! One of a very small number of online stores where I shop.
❤️
Thanks!
Cute fabrics April❣I'm a grunge girlie too!
LOVE that auqua floral fabric 😍
Thank you! 😊
Love it!
Thanks!!
I love grunge! Initially, I like the thin blue grunge between your quilt top & stripped border…you always make such cute tops!!
Thank you. Now I need to finish them.
Very nice and fun!
Thank you
Love the quilt. I would have used an inch and a half blue grunge and then the scrappy border. But then I'm a blue nut. Where was the chocolate?
What she’s saying. Great video!
What his grunge fabric pleade
Love this ❤
Love the border you created. Love your videos.

yes the blue will pull it all together!

Loved the quilt but I thought that a narrow strip of blue would look good.
You picked such bright fabrics, April. Looks good
Thank you. They are my favorite!
Black would look good between your border and patchwork.
Great fabrics, great pattern. Just missed your closing remarks about eating chocolate😢 😅 ❤👍from Somerset UK
Next time!
I love the finished quilt🎉

You have given me some great tips and ideas. I love making lap size quilts.
I think the blue will be perfect!
I am thinking a small "resting" border of turquoise added before the scrappy (love it!) border would look great. Thank for your creative videos!
Great idea!

I got that ruler back the day it debuted many long years ago. For the most part it is the only ruler I use.
What a great idea!

Blue / grunge border and thinking one of your fabric for snow ball corners.
Hi
Have you considered getting a Brother Scan N Cut 325, it is amazing fast, accurate. And a game changer. I got one for Christmas and it is amazingly easy to operate and use.
I love mine. I also use a circut maker -- love it too!

you cut right handed. I can't!
Sorry but I'm a HST Collector. I would have sewn the extra line for my collection lol.
Hey Lady love watching your videos, thank you! Did you rearrange the sewing room?
Yes I did
@@aprilscraftroom oooh do we get a tour? Always looking for new ideals😀🌹
@@msplantladi yes you do. I finally got the final piece to the basement. I am on the home stretch.

I think I would have added a narrow border strip between the quilt and the larger scrappy border.
I thought about it but couldn’t figure out what color to make it so I didn’t do it.
I missed my chocolate 😢😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great quilt. I’ve got some guy FQ’s - thinking this is what I’ll do.
Yeah me too. Sometimes I run out of time. LOL. 😂
April can you do a tutorial using Doug Leko mini simple folded corners ruler for snowballing blocks ❤ from 🇨🇦
I will put on my to-do list
I am same about Batik! Any excuse to use them!
❤️
Use a bright scrappy border
❤❤❤❤
I love your fabrics ! I live in Phoenix. Where did you buy those ?
That's what I came here to ask!!😃 35th Ave maybe?

Thanks April 😊
Wish the quilt place where you got the fabric sold fabric on line. Hard to find Native American prints. So you made a cowboy and Indian quilt
Thank you
It was hard to see the stars on my computer. I think I would like the scrappy border the best.
Thank you
Where did you get the handle for your ruler?? Thanks for all your videos.
Harbor freight
Iwonder how you store your fabric, on pieces of cardboard? Wonder what size they are? Looks like a yard came off?
Yes
I did a short on the comic boards I use (listed in the description)
Keeps my fabric nice and in order
Just curious but this seems like it would have been a great project for your die cutter. Do you not use that often?
Right
What do you do other all the quilts you make?
I donate
Give to friends/ family
Your room looks different! Are you standing on the other side of your table or did you move?
Moved stuff around
What is the name of the white pen you use? I have never seen one like it and I need to mark my dark fabrics ... thank you
Zzadcr is the brand that makes the chalko pen
Did you change rooms?
All the time
Sewing too long of strips is something I would do 😂
😆
what brand is the chaco ace pen??? Not finding it on amazon and you have the brand covered. Thanks and I "really" enjoy your videos! Like the borders also. :~)
I looked for the pen too but, no luck🤷♀️
Zzadgcr is the brand of chalko pen. (Should be in the description)
Yes a lighter color for the corners would be better.
