I follow some popular urbex explorers that have posted videos on this place and have not got as close as Lost Adventures has. Your video is actually the first one I have seen to even peek through the mansion. I have done some urban exploring out here in California and have watched many abandoned videos....The fact you got this close to this place knowing the crazies that patrol it, deserves my hat off as respect.

Nice filming. I remember seeing this place from the road between Uckfield and Eastbourne. There's some documentaries about Hoogstraten knocking around on youtube, he was a big face around Brighton and London in the seventies and eighties. A mate of Mick Jagger's, he boasted that turning down the opportunity to manage the Rolling Stones was one of the few mistakes he'd made in business. Reportedly, as a schoolboy, he put up schoolmates to steal stamps for him. Legend has it he sold said stamp collection in order to start his property business, starting off with land in Bermuda. Or thereabouts. As you say in the vid, he's living in Rhodesia sorry Zimbabwe now.

A brief note; (At Blenheim Palace a newly installed American heiress arranged for radiators and a boiler to heat the library, it had a 70 foot high ceiling, by 10 o'clock in the morning the stokers had managed to put two hundred tons of coal into the boilers to heat this library up. The library's temperature hadn't changed by 1/2 a degree............. they only ran that exercise once... to the un-wise; a note., , "One doesn't heat palaces of this sort, one goes to the Bahamas for the winter".. .. ;) .

Great Video, he was based around Brighton at one time & the Rolls Royce garage kept his paint in stock because he used to enjoy slamming on the brakes on his Rolls so the car behind hit him. Met him once, gave me the creeps! He is/was a very very dangerous man!

Good Video Guys. As impressive as this mansion is, its not a patch on old stone mansions. IMO its a fake copy, bricks, breeze blocks covered in render. Imagine how much it would cost to build it in real stone blocks. That's the difference between a Rothschild Bankster and a slum lord Gangster. Awesome footage, cheers.

He is worth an estimated 500 million but very hard to track his assets, he has been deeply involved in Zimbabwean goverment and mining. So his fountune could be much much greater. Understandable you don't like him but he is much more then a slumlord.

Really enjoyable video, just a shame you couldn't get into the main building, but it was a fantastic explore all the same. Great post production, great history. 5*

That has to be a little unnerving! How often do you hear gun shots off in the distance? I watched another video with some explorers who got shot at. Not sure if they were telling the truth or not but you can hear what sounds like gunshots in the audio. They were not exactly in stealth mode even though they knew the history of the place.
Yea right he hires armed guards to shoot people on his land because that part of England has different laws to the rest of the country . 😆

Think about this, if he's spent 40 million on it as it stands, just think how much his art collection must be worth that it's gunna house if he ever finishes it, wow. JUST WOW, WHt a place it's better than Buckingham Palace..... Beautifull grounds as well stunning place.

He didn't pay up, and had frequent arguments with builders, that is part of the reason it is unfinished.

I’d like to think I’d no what it would be like to have that kind of money. But watching this, seeing this guys land and the size of the buildings on this property I realize, I can’t even imagine what it would be like to have that kind of wealth.

My understanding is the entire place is a mausoleum because that was how he got around planning permission. Technically it isn't a dwelling. A nursing or retirement home stood on the site beforehand which mysteriously burned down...
From what I remember Hoogstraten micromanaged the project, continually changing his ideas. Does it look like something from an architect? Compare it to any of the historic country piles in Britain - Chatsworth, Blenheim, Highclere, Hardwick, Waddeson, Wentworth, Longleat, Lyme, Harwick etc etc. It looks 'old' but it's of no discernible period.
Another thing about the mausoleum is that it creates a perpetual trust, meaning it keeps his estate out of the probate process and just passes down without any legal drama for 100+ years. In other words it's a totally legal tax swerve.
But given the place is never going to be finished and he almost certainly won't be entombed there, I think he's gone for Plan B and much of his assets are now owned by his children in various businesses and trusts.
Not checked in a few years but the last time I did go onto Companies House something like £30 million had been put into the Estate.
Planning permission for a dwelling opposite the gates on Eastbourne Road had recently been refused as well.
Digging a bit deeper into it the request was in the name of one of his son’s partners

What a complete waste of land, money and time. This could be turned into something beautiful and help people who are in need. Instead, it sits, empty and is void of usage.
He just took the mansion over, he didn't build it, look into Tartarian History, winner rewrite his... his story... :)
