Not a Dundee United fan, but how great to see a proper Battle of Britain with a great Dundee United team and a full house at Old Trafford, two great teams and closely fought match. So sad that this would never happen now, money dictates everything and everything is weighed hugely in favour of the biggest clubs. What a shame Scottish and Eastern European clubs are no longer allowed to get to the later stages and win European trophies. European club football should be for everyone
Football in the 80s was more equal than today as Man United supporter I remember this battle well. Money in football ruining the game too much thats why a European Super League keeps getting mentioned. Its a financial super league really
I was at that game and couldn't help but get behind Dundee Utd that evening. What a great side and a great performance. And "salut" to those mad Dundee Utd fans who donned their kilts on a cold winter evening in Manchester -- that took big b*lls.
Utd held by Manchester Utd at Old Trafford then they were kicked off the field at Tannadice in the return leg. Very u/l Utd. But, when the big boys came to town, Barca, Borussia etc, it was a walk in the park, for Utd as usual.

Absolutely a terrible result for the city of dundee , 1893 carolina port 4,1, to dundee against Newton heath ,friendly, april 1956 ,6,1, to dundee friendly dens Park against utd bobby charltons first game , the great duncan edwards played as well , a lot of players transfered from dundee to Newton heath and vice versa in the early 1890 ties , I'm from dundee I supported oldham since 1961 🙂🙂
