Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Fixed With Eustachian Tuboplasty

- Eustachian tube dysfunction can cause many ear issues. One procedure to fix this is a Eustachian Tuboplasty.
The Eustachian tube is a tube that releases pressure from the middle ear into the back of the nose. This tube is surrounded by cartilage and bone and usually releases pressure from the ear like when you're flying or going up in elevations.
If this tube gets swollen either from allergies, inflammation, or infection, then the opening to the tube in the back of the nose doesn't open properly. When that happens the pressure in the ears stays built up, and sometimes fluid can even accumulate in that location.
We have a new procedure called Eustachian tuboplasty where we place a balloon through the nose all the way to the back of the nose. Then, the Eustachian tube opens up and we are able to gently insert the balloon up this tube until it reaches the narrow bony portion. Once the balloon is in the tube we can inflate it, and keep it inflated for a few minutes to allow us to stretch open that Eustachian tube. Finally, the balloon is then removed, the patient is awakened, and people do very well from this procedure.
Once the Eustachian tube is dilated, this is something that should last for a long time, hopefully a lifetime. It's minimally invasive, it's very quick, the recovery is very short, and there's minimal pain involved with this procedure.

I went to an ENT clinic. The nurse Practioner who saw me said my ear pressure wasn't bad...she's not living with it, it's nonstop clogged in my right ear, and just a little in my left. I get dizziness every couple of days, sometimes for several hours, and I'm doing everything she prescribed, nothing helps!! I do a nasal wash daily, decongestant, allergy pills, and flonase. No change! I'm tired of living with this terrible dizziness every few days!
I have the same issue the dizziness is awful and I get imbalanced too .Does your nose feel blocked as well?

@@starlite7785 You know what I found that helps me? I stopped drinking any kind of soft drink..including diet. It gets better and no dizziness when I stop drinking soda.

I have been suffering with blocked ears for decades. Just one day they blocked up.....my left side is worse. Symptoms can change depending on hot or cold weather or when I swallow. I gave up trying when an ear doctor I went to suggested a psychiatrist. I was absolutely flabbergasted when he said that. I couldn't believe it........I felt really hurt by that comment. My behavior in no way warranted an answer like that.

I might have this surgery as I’ve had multiple ear infections this year on my 2nd set of tubes placed in July 2018. I’m tired of constantly taking oral and topical antibiotics and prefer to treat the problem long term. I was diagnosed with a mild conducive hearing loss a few weeks ago and had mastoid fluid on a CT in June. After being dismissed by my now former ENT as TMJ as the cause (despite my not having “classic” TMJ symptoms of grinding or clicking), I’ve found a great doctor who shares my goal in a long term solution

I’ve had ear problems all my life, 3 reconstructions total of my right and left eardrums and for some reason my left ear always feels muffled like it needs to pop but won’t. Glad to know this could be the source

I sorta have the same problem. Floppy collapsed drum all my life but we managed to get it to a point where I haven't had the same problems i did when I was young but things are getting bad again...wont pop, sounds are starting to be a bit different on this side. Best of luck
Same, I had this feeling for 8 months now, I keep on searching for answers and out of all, this i think is my condition...Something in my ear needs to be popped but it just wont and when i keep strecthing my or just opening my mouth continiously it hurts, but the pain lasts for a very short time..I am just wondering if this is dangerous? or is it a normal conditon that doesn't need any immediate medication...
You sound like you are describing me down to the three reconstructions.
The last 15 or so years I have progressively lost hearing. I can hold my nose and blow and will hear my eardrum pop out and then few 10 seconds or so I will hear twice as well then it pops back.
Have gone to the ent and they never seem to want today do anything.
@@justinjames3028 you lost your hearing? ive been to the doctors a lot of times and this is always my complain. they always do the earwax vacuum, they thought it would ease my discomfort but no. it does not work, nothing works. im scared that ill lose my hearing so much that i cry at night whenever i think of the possibilities of losing my hearing in the near future.

Great info.!! Never heard of this and will discuss this with my doctor. Been suffering with all the symptoms you mentioned, and more for going on four years. Tinnitus, pressure and hearing loss in the right ear. And it all started with getting water in my ear during a shower. Thanks for posting on this!🙏👍

@@barrybrown6239 No. Will give it try at some point, I guess. Up to now nothing helps, except cutting the junk out of my diet. I feel less of the effects of whatever the problem is. Also my ears stay cleaner in the ear canal. I guess eating healthier helps everything. But I still have pressure, low hearing and lots of noise in my right ear. Hope you do better I have. @@justincase2281 I have the same problems you describe, tinnitus, fullness, hearing loss... and all of it started for me after being diagnosed with sleep apnea and starting therapy with a CPAP machine. I've quit using the machine for 6 mos but still having problems.
Had tuboplasty yesterday and am in recovery. However, I personally had a cholestetoma in my left ear which needed to be addressed as well. They spent 5 hours on me and had to drill through my mastoids to take care of it. My incus was non existent due to the erosion...my doctor had to disconnect my hearing in my left ear and capped the stapes to preserve it....I only have hearing in my right ear. he is going to reconstruct the bones and I will go under again in 6 months for him to reconstruct. I am in a lot of pain.
I had a less sever cholesteotoma fixed in my right ear 10 years ago and that has been fine. The left side was much worse. I don't wish this upon anyone....
Also had a cholesteatoma that needed to be removed last year, and had some of the bones reconstructed. I'm going in for a second time soon to improve hearing. I know how you feel, the recovery is pretty miserable; but at least it was found out before it caused even more problems. Hope your reconstruction goes well.
@@ghostmutton I am a tough dude and have had a lot of injuries and surgeries. This is pretty awful I am getting the reconstruction in June. My left ear is so butchered and hearing is damn near impossible when out and about now. I am looking forward to a week from now when stitches can come out and pain subsides.

I went through something similar a long time ago. Full ear reconstruction after cholesteatoma removal. Could not walk for a long time due to dizziness, but eventually I made a full recovery and regained good hearing in that ear - and my case was considered severe. Trust your physician, and trust the process.
I can pop my ears, in fact I do it very often now. My right ear has been muffled for at least 2 years now. The problem is, when I pop my ears, they open & for a brief moment I can hear clearly out of my right ear, but it immediately muffles again.
I had tubes in my ears as a child & unfortunately they removed my tonsils. I'm hoping to fix this not only to be able to finally hear again but because I believe it caused me to be dizzy, like vertigo, a few times.
I may need this. Nothing ever changes for me. Of course I've had hay fever/ allergies basically all my life & my sinuses seem to always produce stuff.
i’ve had ear infections all my life ever since i was a baby and the ent told me it was probably because of this. I ended up getting tubes and later on my left ear tube had to be pulled out since it didn’t fall out, leaving a big hole in my eardrum. im getting a Tympanoplasty done next week, wish me luck.

I'm 60 years old and have been trying to be a singer for most my life, but could never hear myself! After getting a concussion 5 years ago I eventually had one full day where I was able to hear myself clearly. It was amazing! It nearly solved my terrible balance problem as well. For the first time in memory my head and sinuses seemed to be venting properly. The problem is that no matter how often I use steroids with a Navage, or Flonase, I only get brief relief and never for very long. I went to a doctor who suggested the balloon method, but he warned that the occurrence of the echoing problem was over 10%. This is NOT encouraging. I also have a deviated septum that I believe also contributes to the lack of proper ventilation. You say the risks are low with proper "indication". What does that mean?
I have a slightly deviated semptum, sinus and blocked (popping/crackling/trapped air) Eustration Tube Dysfunction. I love to sing too. I hear popping in both ears every time I swallow or move my soft palate, shoulders, neck and jaw including when I yawn. One ENT just gave me steroid nose spray, it just made me tired and more blocked and more dizzy. I had grommets when I was little in my ears (that come out on thier own), and I've had my tonsils and adnoids out. For the past 2 years I have had blocked ears. I reasurched ETD and worked out that what I had, clarified by a second ENT doctor. I'm booked in to have semi perminat grommets and if it goes well perminant grommets. I have to wait a year for an operation,
@Badass guy I got grommets (air plastic tubes again), they have been in for a year now. Unfortunately the issues I had before remain. My hearing wasn't very good after the operation, it's better now, although now I get more ear infections than before, and I also hear pulsing sounds at night. thankfully they aren't determinant, so I'm hoping they come out themselves soon. I have had a phyio and neurologist work on me, it could be to do with my neck, although it hasn't helped and I get migraines too especially from light and some food, I need caffeine too.

Can eustachian issue cause by head numbness which caused by neck trauma ?
I don't know if I have this, but whenever I try to hold my nose and to try blow, my ears are supposed to make a close or something until you release the pressure, but for my left ear, it doesn't work. I feel like it's damaged badly and whenever water goes inside of it, it burns like hell. Anyone has any suggestions ori deas to what this is?

The tube didn’t help me. It feels to me like the mucus has coagulated inside my middle ears and it will not drain.

Luckily for me my Scandinavian Black metal is so loud I don't notice the issue but any time I talk, it sound like yelling in my left ear.
Can this cause tinnitus? I've been suffering from bothersome tinnitus for over 4 years now. The first year was the most difficult. I initially saw an ENT and they couldn't figure out what was going on. Just recently my ringing has gotten worse so I went back to the Dr. I expressed my frustration so he suggested we find the root cause of my tinnitus. After narrowing down the possible causes, we're down to probably TMJ, or cervical issues as the problem. He mentioned maybe vagus nerve impairment. Next week I have another ENT visit and we will go from there. Since I do experience a lot of fullness and clogging of the ears, I'm beginning to think my tinnitus might be caused by ETD. I m only one when my nose get blocked and my ear gets clogged and I feel tinitus in ear and when I do work quicker by moving the body I feel little unbalancing problem and feel little dizziness for a while ....anyone experience this??
Considering this. Have developed a slight fullness and itch in my left ear and I suffer from dizzy episodes only relieved by a decongestant or a deep 'pop'. If I can accomplish that release/deep pop...Then everything is restored to normal. Happens without fail almost every time.
Same I get dizzy episodes as well , I just started taking allergy pills how are you now ? It's been 3 months ina half now for me and I feel like it's been forever I can't stand feeling off balance almost all the time it's so annoying
@@danielisayala8731 it has completely went away for me now. It took like 4 months tho. Be sure to drink hot teas and water, take hot showers too. When you drink hot drinks, tip your head back and swallow. Sometimes it can help make a pop occur and release that issue, or it can help your tubes open up and permit a gradual release. Now, even though my left ear is better, it still gets a little full from time to time and pops very loudly, but I no longer have the dizzy episodes.
@@danielisayala8731 oh! And soak a rag in steaming hot water. Let it cool a little so you can handle it, press it to the back of your ear/along the side of your neck where the tube travels down Abit and hold it. This will also help a little.

@@danielisayala8731 like it's In there deep, but the heat applied to the back of your ear/along the space back there should be able to reach if you hold the warm/touchable hot wet rag there for while. Don't be afraid to rewet it on occasion and reapply. If that doesn't work, slowly drinking hot tea in combo with it, may. Heat was what helped me the most, that can take time and repeated attempts, depending though. Best of luck! Don't give up!
I developed it during an air flight 3 years ago, and it was very painful as the plane was landing, and I still feel my eustachian tube blocked, also my nose most of the time.

Had already clogged ears from a chairlift, then took two consecutive domestic flights. My ears still don't equalise properly for days after driving in hills of only 300m. That pain and damage screwed something up in my tubes, but I don't know how it'd do that.
Some day I want to fly helicopters, but the ear problem has dashed that hope along with ever travelling abroad. If this surgery actually works, it'd be lifechanging.
Same thing happened to be on flights to and from Europe this past summer. I’m going in to have this procedure done in a week.

@@dingdong5601 I’m currently on week two post procedure. I think it has helped already, but my ENT says it will take 6-8 weeks to feel the full results. I already feel like my ears clear much better though. I’m happy I got it done.

Does anyone else have bad head pressure in there head/ears when they smoke ive been living with this for 3 years now been to 2 ents so far going to a 3rd in July also can't wear headphones cause my ears are sensitive to the sound.
I believe I also have this condition but not sure. It all started about 12 years ago when I felt my left ear clog up and just never popped. My right ear is fine and I never had any problems with the right ear only the left ear. Well it left me with it always feeling clogged up and pressure from certain sounds does cause it to hurt at times and sound muffled like if I had my finger in my ear. This causes me to hear my voice or my heart beat plus I have an artificial metal aortic heart valve that I can hear ticking like a clock in my head loudly with this clog, also when ever I talk I hear my voice amplified in my head. Because of this when ever I do talk it sounds like I'm yelling in my head. Now every one around me says they can hardly hear me when I talk to them and always ask me to speak up. I have been to the ear Doctor one time a few years ago and they only checked to see if I had wax build up which was no. and check to see if my ear drum was bulging and that was no also. The doctor gave me nasal drops that gave me a sore throat and that was about it. The Doctor said nasal treatment Tuboplasty could be expensive and not covered by insurance and so I pretty much gave up on it saying I will just have to live with it, but now I'm just tired of feeling this way and it been about 5 years since I saw the doctor. I never have found out what was the cause until I stumbled upon this video, that is why I am asking if others have the same feelings and hear what sounds like your own loud voice in head when you talk and feel like your yelling and not talking as I do with this so called ,,,,, Eustachian tube dysfunction.

Andenoid gland inflammation causing blockage in your inner ears.
I had this procedure done by another ent, so nothing to do with the doc who made this video. This procedure has a red flag. Insurance does not cover it so you will have to pay cash. At least in the summer of 2021 it was not covered. I ended up paying $4,000 because I was desperate for this procedure. Intermittent levels of hearing in one ear plus, terrible experiences on planes when the ear would not acclimate. It felt like I was being stabbed in the ear drum. Had procedure done, it worked for 2 weeks and then the Eustachian tube collapsed and I temporarily lost hearing in that ear. It got better over time but I ended up where I was before the procedure. Then the doctor was like, tough luck, I’m not responsible, I have your money now. Take a lot of time considering this procedure. If insurance doesn’t want to cover it, there’s a reason. It’s failure rate is greater than it’s success rate.
My ears pretty much always pop which doesn’t bother me that much except in morning they pop much more and I have a dry sore throat that goes away within 30 minutes of getting up. Does this sound like this issue?

I’m not entirely sure but i think this is what I have. Exactly a week ago I heard a really loud noise whilst out with friends. I was fine for about 5 minutes but then started hearing rapid cracking in my right ear. Some days it was okay and I couldn’t notice it much but others it was more rapid and irritating. If I don’t notice a difference in the next few days, i’m going to contact the doctor. However if anybody could confirm or deny that it may be this that would be greatly appreciated.
I have allergies for dust and letterally always allergic reaction during the whole day. And as a result fluid accumulates in my middle ear and since the eustachian tube is swollen too the fluid can not escape and drain into the throat.
This treatment looks good but you don't inflate the narrow part that bottle neck part of the eustachian tube.

It sounds like your ear cannel or something is maybe swollen. I had that same problem where i could hear my heartbeat in my ear, but eardrops seemed to fix it. Are you having hearing loss too? Im no doctor, but again, something could be swollen.
my wife has been suffering with this for years but worse in the last 6 months. Migraine headaches every day miserable and vertigo. Causing severe depression. No quality of life at all. This could be the answer but is it available in SE Asia? Hope so!.

How is she now? I had this issue and I realized it was in part caused by having "ear crystals" from a recent bout of vertigo still moving within my ear canals. The epley maneuver performed multiple times helped clear the crystals and the headaches went away. The doc didn't believe me when I said that solved my migraine issue, but it is worth a shot! I hope she's better now.
I have eustachian tube disfunction from being born with a cleft palate, I have had many ear tube placements. They never work. Would this procedure be appropriate for someone who does not have normal palate anatomy?
Me too. Idk what's worse. The constant ears opening and closing when I exercise, staying closed for weeks or the fact that food can randomly get through the back inf my throat and stuck in my nose. It burns so bad, then I have to cry and make my nose runny to shoot it out

Just to let you guys know if you have severe anxiety it can also make your ears feels like this and as if its draining.
I also have a mild hearing lost which gave me this anxiety I’m working to recover from this.

I have this pathology and I think its due to anxiety. Some of you experimented a relief trying first your severe anxiety and then a solution in your plenty eras?

Hounestly if this works i want this procedure! I have been deaf in my right ear my entire life and unfortunatly until i was 14 every time i went to the doctors i was dismissed as they coudnt see an imediate issue. I finaly had a hearing teat done when i was 14 and i was 95% deaf in my right ear due to build up in the middle ear. I had a grommet placed to help with this but near the begining of last year (3 years later) i noticed my hearing clogging up agan.
It causes me allot of distress as i struggle with sensory overload quite often mainly sound based and not being able to tell where sound is comming from has made it worse. It has also made it harder to dance with my balance being thrown of and i dont think i need to explain how it affects my singing 😅 as musical theatre is my career choice it is making evrything so much harder. I went to the doctors again to try and find out what it was and they mentiond the eustachian tube not working correctly. Unfortunatly because i am no longer classed as a child i wont be able to have anything done which does cause allot of distress with my balance, not being able to hear where cars are comming from or hear conversations, struggling to even have a shower without pain, my balance getting worse and struggling with conversations. I am sure i just have to try my best to adapt but i would do anything to be able to hear again because it causes so much distress

Hello! I’ve been having dizzy episodes & feeling off balance since December 2022. I finally went & saw an ENT specialist. She checked both ears & said my ears looked good & saw no fluid BUT I SOMETIMES FEEL FLUID IN BOTH OF MY EARS. Like, it’s stuck…like it wants to come out but won’t. I did an audio test & passed with flying colors. The ENT specialist looked up my nose & said that my nose was very inflamed, which can cause my Eustachian tubes to swell. So, she prescribed me prednisone. I don’t know if the prednisone is working or not…today is just Day 6 of 12. However, I’m still experiencing dizziness & imbalance. It is the absolute worse. It has caused me to have extreme anxiety & panic attacks. I’m in need of relief! I do not want to have to deal with this any longer. Anybody dealt with something similar?
Hey I’m going through the same thing does music also sound bad because for me it makes me feel depressed because that’s my best coping mechanism and I lost that because I can’t hear the notes properly
@@Sullybomb33_ Hello! I never lost my hearing. My ears would just feel full & I had balance issues. My balance has gotten better but I still experience imbalance at times. I started having really bad headaches, so I went to the hospital. A CT Head was performed & it was determined that I had a sinus infection. So now, my ENT ordered me to have a CT Sinus done, which I went & had done on Friday, now just waiting to follow back up with her for the results. Maybe all of this, for me, is sinus related. I just really want answers and solutions bc this entire experience has been the absolute worse.
I’ve had etd for about 5 months now. My left ear was clogged and had extreme pressure, my right ear had a feeling of fluid building up. My Dr gave me some antibiotics but it didn’t do anything. The clogged feeling in my left ear is gone but sometimes feel pressure when I move a certain way. My right ear sometimes feels like it’s building up pressure but has gotten better. My hearing is good, I’ve been getting anxiety and panic attacks lately. Gonna see a ent dr next week, hopefully I can get some relief. I heard red light therapy helps with this condition, just ordered one off of Amazon. Hang in there, gotta keep a positive mindset that things will get better.
This shit drives me crazy, day in day out. Only way i can make it stop is by laying down for 30-40 minutes.
I am 25 and my ears have always popped for as long as i can remember. I have to sniff up for my ears to unpop and ive been doing that for YEARS!! They pop when I talk, swallow, yawn, eat or sing Of course they don't always pop under those circumstances but those are some examples. I don't know what I could do to get rid of this popping. As as adult I feel its getting worse.

SAME!!! I've been reading through comments and it seemed like noone had this chronic issue. I'm 27, and I feel like when I was 6 is when all of this started. I've made it a habit to just sniff aggressively when my ears pop, which they do evervwr single time I yawn, chew big, sing, anything like that. It's really starting to effect my actual hearing, as I can't hear people very well. Going to the ear, mouth and throat Dr tomorrow for the first time about this issue. Wish me luck that it can be fixed after having this problem for 20+ years.
Do your patients run into health insurance issues when trying to have this procedure done? My ENT wanted to perform this but my insurance would not approve it as they consider it experimental, I’m trying to see if anyone else has had this problem

I have had clogged ears since I can remember, and at least one nostril clogged at any given time, with around or less than 30% breathability. Which nostril is effected will switch throughout the day, and the other nostril breathes fine with around 100% breathablity. There doesn't seem to be any fluid built up as far as I'm aware. Is this procedure in your video something that can help with my problems?
one nostril being closed up is standard, clogged ears is not however
You might have a deviated septum (inside nostral). Doctors can put a camera inside your nose to check?

@@BryanPopeProductions You're welcome :) I had grommets in my ears and adenoids/tonisls out too. Everything was ok until a few years ago when I got ear infections and was dizzy, with a full feeling. This time it was air as an adult and not fluid. I think it changes as the Eustacian tubes grow.

A question for the doctors. I have experienced Eustachian tube dysfunction for the majority of my life. Has anyone looked into permanently inserting a synthetic eustachian tube inside the actual biological eustachian tube? Wouldn't this keep the eustachian tube open permanently and prevent the tube from ever closing again, thereby preventing the infections from occurring to begin with or from reoccurring?

Trust me, you would NOT want your eustachian tube to be permanently open. People suffer from Patelous Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (PET), where their eustachian tubes are too wide or won't close. This causes them to hear their own voice and breathing way too loud, like they're talking and breathing directly into their ear. Your eustachian tube should only open briefly when chewing, yawning or swallowing to allow ventilation of the middle ear space. The rest of the time it should be closed to block out internal sounds.

Just wondering if everyone can tell me their experience of when the dizziness/popping/crackling/headaches/sinus/ETD/fullness started?
I had large tonsils and adnoids (insided nose) when I was little and had them taken out and grommets put in, it was very good. I didn't have many ear infections for years (just asthma and heyfever, mainly as a teenager and adult).
About 6 years ago I had a bad lung and ear infection. I was working full time and I was around lot of dirt/vegetables and lifting heavy things.
I was very tired and wasn't eating much meat. I moved a few times within a year. I painted the houses and some of the houses had mould, and cats were peeing on the carpet.
I also flew overseas at that time.
My neck and head makes crackling noises, and all the symptoms stared that I didn't have before (ETD etc).
I have a slightly deviated septum and "small?" narrow? eustacion tubes (possibly inflammation?)
I would like to go for skin and food allergy testing as physio, ENTs and neurologists can't figure it out. I could be low in potassium as I have been hearing pulsing in my ears the past year (after grommet/equalisation/ ventilation tube surgery) when I lay on my side to sleep. I have to wear ear plugs in the shower and have more ear infections than before. I'm hoping the grommets fall out themselves. I also have sensitivity to light and get dizzy, and neck and shoulder pains. I swallow a lot and open my jaw, I know TMJ can be heard from the outside, so I don't think it's that, I hear popping inside. It's almost like when you swallow saliva, except it's in my eusation tubes.
I also had medication/caphlexn when I had an ear infection and have had the tetanus and womens cc vaccine within the past 12 years.
I have also been on the phone/internet more and have been using inner ear buds more often.

Could posture be causing blockage, ie tight shoulders or neck?
Not a Dr. but currently seeing a specialist for these issues. If that tension is also in your jaw, then yes, that inflammation can be causing or exacerbating ear and blockage issues.
In short, if you carry a great deal of tension in your jaw, that inflammation can cause a whole host of problems. You might look into TMD/TMJD if so.
Other peopele can hear TMJ clicking (I have that a little bit). For the last 2 years I have had blocked ears/eustation tubes, only I can hear it popping (swallowing and moving my shoulders/jaw).
I don't know if I have ETD, but I have a clicking sound in my left ear everytime I swallow or sometimes when I move my head. I do not feel any fullness inside my left ear and my hearing is ok. Sometimes it disappears but the moment I start eating my meal it retuns back. Hope you can help me.
I have it in both my ears, but my right ear is worse, it sometimes disappears but always comes back, I hope we find a solution.

1). how do you diagnose etd? 2). Can it be visualized in a scan? 3. Can etd cause swelling in front of the ear by the parotid gland? (my parotid glands are clear but swell and I have etd).

@@heyred16I'm not sure what the camera is called. The ENT will put a tiny tube camera inside your nose. An audiologist will put a tiny camera inside your ear. My ears had some scarirng from past grommet surgery and ear infections, otherwise he said they looked ok. My ears are muffled, and have pressure, yet my audiologist said my hearing was pretty good and it's pretty much in my head (he's right, though I'm not crasy only I can hear, it, he wasn't a good specialist). I swallowed during the ear pressure test (I realsised later that coud've altered results).
PS I'm not sure if an MRI scan would see the sinus and eustation tubes. I have asked for one at my GP. Instead they just did an xray of my jaw (osteopath allighed it more) and they said my jaw is fine, so probably not TMJ as everyone can hear TMJ clicks.
@Don I'm not sure of the type of camera, it has a long thin tube so it can see inside your nostril to the Eustachian tube. my surgery is on Monday. :) Go to another ENT for more advice, I went to lots of doctors and other "professionals" before anyone else agreed my own diagnosis (after never hearing about anyone else with it) was correct. Hopefully the grommets/air tubes work. I will also look into an MRI scan and allergy testing (food and skin).

I have been diagnosed with patulous eustachian tube dysfunction. That means that my tube is staying in the open position It will not close normally as it should. Are there medications available today, or a surgical procedure as an option to resolve this problem? I now have tinnitus and a high pitch squeal in my head because of this. If I can get my petulous eustachian tube to go back into the closed position as normal the squeal will go away, and I will once again realize what the sweet sound of silence is all about which I will never take for granted again. I have the rare ability to open my Eustachian tube naturally without any head movements, such as yawning. However, for the last couple of years my left ear has had a constant fullness feeling and tinnitus.

Oliver Pigram I've had my hearing tested for a military test and passed that with flying colours. Think my left ear is slightly not as good as my right but barely noticeable. The fullness feeling varies all day and I have to keep opening up the tubes for a quick relief. I'm trying to not open them as I don't think flexing them constantly is a good thing and might cause damage in the future. Also, when I got my left ear drum looked at they said it was dull, whilst my right was fine. I had a cold that day so they thought it was that, but now I'm hoping that it is the cause of my tinnitus and fullness and could get it sorted.

LAZY DOG the brain being the cause of this is what makes the chances of a cure in the near future so slim. People with physical ailments have hope, but when it comes to the brain medical science is still way off the mark of fully understanding how it all works.
U Wot M8? I developed tinnitus about 4 years ago at the same time I developed some type of Eustachian tube disfunction that caused roughly 10% hearing loss. That was obviously enough sudden loss for the brain to think it was doing me a favour by creating the tinnitus. I live with it, you have to I guess. It seems to have reduced a bit over that time, or maybe I just get used to it. I feel extremely sorry for those with extremely little hearing yet have tinnitus because they have no way of masking it.

@@palaksoni5794 Not sure what you mean by ear bones. I am not a medical professional. Very sorry. If your eustachian tubes are blocked often you will have some hearing loss and pressure and often pain with that pressure. This procedure helps keep the tubes open and stop that congestion, pressure, and pain that I am going through horribly.

Well I must've had a bad placement, doctor or whatever bc this did not go well for me. I'm 4 years now post-op and it's been downhill since day one. Doctor put tubes in my drums at the same time as the dilation. Post visits to DR weren't fun either when expressing psychological changes to him, well he just brushed it off. Or he'd give some excuse to my sudden paralyzing ear pain I would have, sure it would subside but in the moment felt like an ice pick through my ear. All this because at the age of 37, I had given up and wanted to get hearing aids. My "bottom of the normal" range of hearing has come with a great cost.

@@heythere6983 yes, while I was under they went ahead and put the tubes in. To get to the eustachian tube is a little more invasive bc they have to go through your nasal canal. I had 50/50 results, one ear good and tge one that was my worst is no better.
I have had ear tubes that keep falling out. So my Dr will put a tube in a different way. Can't remember the name of the procedure. My ears block up all day long. I pop my ears but that usually doesn't last long. Would the balloon keep the eustachian tube open like a stent? This problem has been bothering me for over 30 years. It doesn't hurt but my hearing is lower but about 30 db. So the balloon would stretch the eustachian tube so it doesn't collapse and block the sound from going through. I might have TMJ and I have been grinding my teeth since I was maybe 5 years old. I am now 59 years old. I live in Canada. So would the balloon procedure solve my problem without having to get a tube put in my ear?
