Smaller facets of the car community are always the best. I’ve experienced the same in the Volvo community. Everyone is willing to help each other out, which can sometimes make up for a relative lack of aftermarket support. :)
The surface area of the countersunk head will be greater than the surface area of the nut so will stop the bolt spinning They should really have tapped the plate to allow the countersunk bolt to thread into it to create a stud sticking up
Yeah, when I initially watched the video, I was thinking... not the greatest design choice just to have free-spinning countersunk bolts just held in there with some sealant
Travis from Elate Mfg has revised this part of the design. Those holes are now tapped, just as you've suggested. The great thing about Travis from Elate is his willingness to quickly iterate and make his products better. Working with him has been really gratifying, he's dedicated to making parts that work for a global market and we've stumbled on a few differences with our USDM car (he's in Australia) but he's responded to these differences very quickly. Top mark to him, he most definitely will not leave his customers hanging.
Gary, I haven’t seen previous episodes but wondered why it wasn’t studs. Great replay on the countersink. The surfaces love to create interference friction. Anyone who has had to break them loose on a fixture after a while knows how tight that gets!
My UZ’s valve cover bolts were so loose it would dump oil on the exhaust every time I went uphill. Torqued the bolts down and hasn’t leaked a drop since! Mine has 221k miles.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The best build project(s) on RUclips right here! Coupled with the most underrated automotive channel on RUclips hands down
I am loving this 6k series. I have a 2004 LS430 and after watching this I am going to absolutely do this. Plus you two have some great puns. I am glad I found this channel 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
love it ! We just hit winter mode here in NE South Dakota and plan on doing this set up to my 05 ls430 Ultra Luxury Edition during the cold months off Daily driving
That low idle is most likely due to the engine not being turned on in a while (you disconnected the battery when you started your mods I’m assuming) when you do that, you may have to do what is called an idle relearn procedure on it. I had a very similar issue with my dads 2uz-fe sequoia we did a battery change on.
I thought it looked a bit weird when he was putting the injectors on and he started threading the bolt before pushing the injectors down to seat them. Glad you found the problem quickly!
Those eatons sound amazing under WOT. I actually miss the sound of my eaton blower, but the KB is a little more fun. Can't wait to see the final results.
Regarding spark plug... If u guys bought the ngk bkr6eix or bkr7eix code without -11 at the back of it, they were already gapped for boosted engine application (0.8mm gap preset).... Because -11 at the end of the ngk plug code denote the 1.1mm plug gap for normally aspirated engine application
JUST A HEADS UP, on early Toyota and Lexus cars, they have this thing of when you disconnect the battery it resets the cars idle, from my experience as a used car technician at a Chevrolet dealership where I would get a lot of early toyota and Lexus for trade in, once the car is fully complete and running, I would let the car idle for a good amount of time and it'll self learn its idle
I mean, give it the pressure washer sauce from the git-go. You will stay cleaner working on it, looks better on camera AND less chirps from the comment section.
It should be noted when changing/modifying the vacuum hose for the brake booster from OEM there is a one way check valve in the line, make sure there is still one in place and that it flows in the proper direction.👍 I see the smoke tester was used to find the leaks in the credits, always a good idea to double check your work and know for certain on first startup.
Great video :-) I know on both of my Toyotas if you disconnect the battery without running a jumper to the OBD2 port the computer kinda loses it's tune and neither car idles well. Though luckily Toyota computers are self learning and after about 70 - 75 miles the engine runs just fine. I know you guys will probably be getting the engine tuned, but the rough idle is normal and will go away on it's own. Just say'in - my two cents. Stay warm!
Felt great, but to be honest it's been a very easy install compared to just about any other forced induction system we've ever installed, and we've installed a lot of them over the years. There's been a few small details to sort out, but this setup is about as simple and as easy as it gets if want to add boost to the party mix.
Great build just worried about using the evap system without a one way check valve i would'nt want boost going to my gas tank, just thinking about safety
If I were you I would put that pulse dampener back on the fuel line you will have a lean spot that the manufacture has done tests on what wave frequency the fuel vibrations are being transmitted so that the fuel dampener can dampen... and you’re just undoing it because of fitment purposes.
I've never seen anyone supercharge an LS before so I'm excited to see this thing running down the road. On another note, it would've been a nice touch if you would've swapped out the front bolts on the supercharger for some polished ARP bolts. Sweet deal regardless though. 👌
I just stumbled upon this and will be following. I do have some software that let's me edit some of the ECU maps. I've got a pretty good tune I'm my LS430
Definitely thinking about ways to charge cool, but we wanted to try the non-intercooled setup first since we live in a climate where Mother Nature does a lot of charge cooling for us. Will add the Elate A2W intercooler if we find she's heat soaking too much.
I was always told with UZ engines, centrifugal superchargers are the way to go unless you run turbs. I wanted to throw an m90 before I was told this. Regardless this is badass
Haha, the upside to putting Ford parts on the car...perfect scapegoat 😂. Hope you're doing well, man, haven't seen much of you in the comments or on your channel lately.
This is the sealant Elate Mfg specifies in their instructions and since they've run this setup on many UZ engines I'm sure it's well tested and proven by now.
Never realized how much I want an LS 430 with a supercharger and custom wheels until now.
Me neither! 😆
@@speedacademydave Actually sold my LS 460 about six months ago. Fantastic car. I will probably own another LS in the future!
Always wanted a ls430
Badass car
this makes me sad, i just sold my gs400 because i couldnt find a good kit for boosting. this whole series started maybe a week after i sold it.
Excited about this build and loving how the LS community is helping out. Really looking forward too some dyno runs.
I would like this exact setup when everything is finalized and tune. Love how the LS community is giving out a helping hand also
Ha I think there are alot of ls owners waiting to see the final set-up, myself included.
Ditto

Quiet is better - Adds to the sleeper vibe. Fast/modded Toyotas always go under the radar, but the less attention you attract, the better.
Cool! By the way the LS430 naturally does not "prime" fuel when placed in on position..it will just start pumping as soon as it cranks.
This is true for most Toyotas.
came here to say this
@@hardtopte72 Yeah my 4Runner does the same
Force the pump to run full time when the engine is off and check for leaks. Too late to check for leaks when the hot engine is running.
Wow very interesting, I didn't know that.
My UZ’s valve cover bolts were so loose it would dump oil on the exhaust every time I went uphill. Torqued the bolts down and hasn’t leaked a drop since! Mine has 221k miles.
Toyota wins again! 😆

Yet another great video from these guys!
I can see the potential beast this thing is going to be when it's done.💪
👍🏻#300!
For some reason I prefer watching the LS vids over the M wagon vids.
that's because you're a man of great taste
Yeah me too
Throttle Body spacer also adds. ... like 20 WHP...........
Great episodes on these build ups. I cant wait for the challenges to begin between the LS G-Ride & M5 Dragging Wagon (what I've dubbed them...lol).
Can we change that to M5 Drag Queen Wagon? #TheFlexusHasAlreadyWon 😜
Hope you guys did the starter while you were in there.
Shoulda done that and a set of new knock sensors!
Pretty awesome! I like it! I can't wait to see the final video! Also I wish haltech would sponsor you guys.
Did you save the Depend for the first street drive test?
It'll be part of the "prize pack" for whoever wins the sport sedan challenges at the end of the builds 😂
Check your "vacuum connector" which is a one way valve 👌(CHECK VALVE)
How’s your Bro’s Honda? That was a cool project.
It's good. Gt35 on stock fuel system. 3 lbs for now till I can turn it up
What honda? The crv?
Another Saturday Morning 🌄
AWESOME Lexus content 😁👏🏼🙌🏼👍👍👌🔥🔥🔥
Nice Guys!!
I really like the 80s vibe back ground music at the time lapse.
This is the business!!!!!
great job, make sure you either delete the cats or run high flow cats to avoid cylinder pressure spikes and cylinder wall/ piston ring damage.
A lot of work getting to this point, must have felt nice to finally turn it over!

I can’t wait to do something like this for Mine
Great build just worried about using the evap system without a one way check valve i would'nt want boost going to my gas tank, just thinking about safety
It doesnt seen boost there. That is before the air is compressed
If I were you I would put that pulse dampener back on the fuel line you will have a lean spot that the manufacture has done tests on what wave frequency the fuel vibrations are being transmitted so that the fuel dampener can dampen... and you’re just undoing it because of fitment purposes.
I ran an E-Manage Ultimate on my twin turbo set up.
I'm currently buying a 1980 X40s Toyota Cressida and putting a supercharged 1GZ-FE into it. Hopefully it's as awesome as this.
Was idling low due to battery being disconnected. Ecu needs to relearn everything. Once it gets driven it’ll be back to normal
Amazing job 👏
Can't wait to see the dyno results.

6k challenge or 16k+ challenge and rising?
Basically LMFAOOO i think a perfect $6k challenge would be either a Civic + K swap + boosting it or either a GTI 2.0T + IS38/K04 swap + fbo
Every video someone says this, not having paid attention to the fact it was the purchase price
cant wait for the LS to run and rev a bit!
Pete sabotaging dp with leaky injectors hahaha. I’m thinking the m5 wago needs some whirlybird action too.
Jokes on Pete, he's the one fixing it anyways, lol
remember when he killed the s2k with silicone, hes a monsterr
@GDaniel haha, OG viewer/hater! 😂
Unique project thank you 🙏🏽
Such a cool build
I thought you guys said in earlier vids that it could run up to 5# with stock ecu and fuel?
They're winging it man! One thing I like is they pony up to their mistakes, usually.
As you'll see in the next few videos, it can and will run at 5psi on the stock ecu and fuel system.
@@speedacademydave awesome looking forward to it. Giving me ideas for the gs4 in the spring.
I just stumbled upon this and will be following. I do have some software that let's me edit some of the ECU maps. I've got a pretty good tune I'm my LS430
You will feed boost into crankcase by that way of routing.
Nope, the vacuum source we used is pre supercharger.
Found a clean 03 with broke timing belt for 1200. Used motors are 1k.
I hope something like this gets made for the 2uz-fe
"Uh oh, here comes the potty talk now"
DP, Pete got you to lower your gaurd on the bolt retrieval then tried to get you on the injectors 🤣🤣
He's crafty, I'll admit, but in the end the Flexus will reign supreme!
Did you guys add a check valve on that pcv line? Now that the engine will be seeing boost if that line is open it will pressurize the crankcase
What will the result be if they don't add a check valve?
PCV vacuum source is pre supercharger.
Interested to see how long this 3uz will last without thicker rods..
YEAH!
Don't they make TRD. superchargers for those? Did make them for the 4.7 hard to find now on ebay
Yes yes yes
You should really run some for of charge cooling. Even if it would just be a water methanol system.
Definitely thinking about ways to charge cool, but we wanted to try the non-intercooled setup first since we live in a climate where Mother Nature does a lot of charge cooling for us. Will add the Elate A2W intercooler if we find she's heat soaking too much.
Those are for coolant not vacuum on the throttle body
hurry up with next video! cant wait!
Can this be duplicated on a GS400? I’ve had mine for 15years always wanted to super charger it. thanks
I was always told with UZ engines, centrifugal superchargers are the way to go unless you run turbs. I wanted to throw an m90 before I was told this. Regardless this is badass

was hylomar / goopygasket the right choice for that gasket? wont the boost push it out of where it's suppsed to be?

Was there a way to keep an inter cooler on the supercharger? I’m sure that the “Tom’s” kit uses it (even though it very rare and expensive).
