I’m pretty sure it does it while stationary but it’s more noticeable when turning slow and the steering wheel all the way turned usually on irregular or uneven surfaces

Any update?
Update?
Finally someone going over all these potential issues. Thank you
Great info, very specific and concise! Thank you 🙏
Thank you for going over all the possible causes.
Thank you for your experience and expertise. This helped tremendously.
Precious info, thanks
Very helpful thank you! Do a video on how and where to get a friend to turn the steering wheel next, thanks!
Facebook! You can always find temporary “friends” on there 😂
exactly what i needed thank you good sir
this video was perfect fr thank you so much
Thanks for the information.
Mine hasn’t been right since I got a pothole… vibration in the wheel and while driving pulls to the right and when its stationary and I do the side to side I can feel a slight give and hear the metallic noise
Check for loose bolts on the H-frame too.
You deserve more likes! Click n Clack would like.
many thanks
You forget the steering shaft intermediary U joints.
Thank you!!!
What about the power steering preload nut ? I’ve seen a few videos of people just tightening it a little and the clunk is gone or atleast a lot quieter and it tightens the steering but I’m not sure if all cars have them or if they all work the same ?
Mine was control arm bushing. Two blown cv axles and also possible tie rod ends. All of this goes out lots these days cus of our tax dollars not being appropriated to fixing our roads.
same here in UK the amount of potholes here is insane doesn't help when your car has lowered suspension
@@LNUM2000 oh dude that has to suuuuuck
Could also be bad strut mounts.
Thnx à lot thank you very much
Power steering is mostly electric for the last 10-15 years. Most of the time it is the strut mount bearing , if you hear noise when turning steering wheel from left to right when parking, etc.
Nice 👍
Have a 2019 dodge journey no leaks but sounds like sucking air when turning right flushed fluid and replaced power steering sound fine steering was better then bad again can’t figure it out no leaks on rack or hoses or reservoir
I have a 2016 track and when driving slow and I turn either way it makes a popping noise. Also when I am at a stationary position (standstill) I can turn the steering left to right and vise versa and it makes the same noise. Hope you can help. Thanks.
I’m starting to hear it even more and feeling it within the steering wheel itself. It’s so loud that shakes the steering wheel with a small vibration.
Same with me
Same I got hit on my fender side
Same what's the problem
So I started getting a popping in front suspension/wheel area a few weeks ago. I replaced sway bar links, ball joints, inner and outer tie rods. Electric power steering with no faults. Left front wheel still has a very small
Amount of play while off the ground. Me and wife took a long road trip weekend with no issues. Felt solid and no noises over anything. Started popping again this morning while sitting still and turning wheel only to the left. Any ideas would be helpful. It needs brakes which are on order and I’m down to the full lower control arms as a next step.
That sounds like a cv axle if it’s a clicking sound when pulling all the way left or right. Turn the wheel and whichever direction it’s pointed while clicking, that’s the side that’s faulty. I’ve heard it’s recommended to replace both sides of anything that hasn’t ever been replaced if it’s first time replacing as the adjacent part may likely go out soon too. Hope this helps.
Mines weird actually feels loose when I turn left and right some squeaking
Thanks for video. When I found some time I try look whats happend in my car. Mitsubishi asx I heard just 1 clunk just in the morning before driving. Mechanic have change also shock strut bering on both sides around 10 tusind km ago. This clunk is just when I turn wheels right or left and later silent.
I have an 07 Hyundai Elantra it doesn't have a power steering reservoir but when I'm turning the wheel it's making kind of a whining sound any idea what kind of issue that might be
What about electric power steering 😅🫣🤷🏻♂️
I’m getting more of a grinding noise when turning the wheel from a dead stop…. Grinding noise when I’m revising and turning the wheel
What was it cause i have
?
Could be hub assembly if there’s a constant grinding sound almost like it feels like your riding on sand paper against your rotors.
i have 2011 impala so i dont have no leaks so when i get ready to pull of turn my steering wheel it makes sound like dry window squeegee sound i dont have the clunk sound
it does it off and on not sure what it is any help would be grateful thanks
I have a 2006 Impala and it just started making the noises when turning and accelerating.
Hi Just got some suspension bushes done and a horn replacement, now after picking car up from mechanic its making the creaking popping sound when turning, please let me know if its the bushes or if I need to get a wheel alignment done or maybe its the control arm but it didnt need those done before i went to the mechanic, funny how i just got few things fixed replaced and now more things wrong with the car 😢
Mechanics are like that. Scam artists.
I can be parked and I can hear. Clunk sound after I turn the steering wheel (not tire) from the straight position and back to where the steering wheel is back to normal position. This happens no matter which direction I’m returning the steering wheel from and the length of turning the wheel. It’s always when the steering wheel reaches that position.
me too any updates ?
With mine, while stationary with the power steering on.
The moment you turn the steering wheel to the right. It made a clunking metal sound.
Turns out that the Top mount bearing and coil spring on the left passenger side (UK) broke loose.
Had to replace.
Tell tale sign before it properly broke off was a squeaking sound when driving.
Mine does it but when the car is shutoff (ie no power steering) it will make more noise
my steering makes lots of noise. but only when I go full turn I can see the pulley on the pump almost stopping like forcefully. does that mean my pump is bad? my fluid is good but there is a leak from the reservoir.
Cv axles
When my vehicle is on and stationary, if I turn it all the way to one side or the other it makes a squeaking noise like a belt is squeaking. But only makes the noise if it's turned all the way. Can you help? Please
Power steering, try top up the fluid if its still going probably a kinked or blocked line
Otherwise power steering is going out.
Either way power steering is where you wanna look
@@oskarhauzer2526I have the same problem thank you so much
The cost of tire rodreplaced
Hey I have a question... I just installed a used rack... I also swapped in new tie rods. The car actually steers and drives very well but I have a few new concerns and I added so many new components I am having trouble figuring out what it could be. I tried the side to side movement with the car jacked up and there was no play at all... however when i hold at 12 and 6 o clock and do it I can hear a very slight click but no visual movement. My issue presents itself when I have the car running at a stand still with the brake held in drive (usually under a weight load) and I turn the wheels lock to lock I hear a rubbing/grinding sort of noise towards the end of each directional cycle. I am wondering if my used rack is making this noise or if the new outer tie rods (do inner tie rods make noise?) I got are causing this? I did not get the car aligned yet but I counted threads and copied them over and it handles so well I don't think my alignment is off enough to make this sort of a noise but who knows.
I have the same issue for sounds coming from the left front suspension. The only thing new in my car is the coilovers. Everything else is original. I'm trying to check all of the tie rods, ball joints, etc. but can't pinpoint the problem. I don't have a car lift, I can only jack up one side of the car with the car's issued jack. If HVAC Mechanic or anyone else can suggest good methods to identify the problem, I sure would appreciate it.
brake pads can rattle if they’re not seated properly it took me forever to figure it out
😊😊@@markusjordan5158
@@markusjordan5158 How were yours not seated properly? I hear this a lot but i'm not sure how this can happen as theres only one way to put them on.
@@Dnasty1 I think the guy who did my pads damaged the clips or didn’t grease them so I kept hearing a rattle noise whenever I drove over slight bumps, I figured it out when I drove over the same bumps with my foot on the brake the rattle was gone so just got new pads and problem solved
I love you
With the car off and stationary, I wiggle the steering wheel and hear this knocking noise. I Replaced the lower ball joints and no luck! Any suggestions?
Cv axles, control arm bushings, and tie rod ends. Check em all. Mine makes same sound had inspection done and was told cv axles and control arm bushing needed repaired but I also get tons of swaying on the road cannot stay in lanes or accelerate and decelerate easily without having to mash the gas or breaks. It’s gotta be junk clogged in the boot whatever that metal assembly is in there.
Random moan after a left turn while wheel is returning to straight, 1 second long maybe, its not a PSP whine.
I also had tire wear, I told shop to let me look at tires closer, but they tossed them before I could see. I think it might have only been driver side or at least that side was worse. 06 scion xB
Hoping its not the rack as I replaced the high pressure line a yr ago and it was resolved I thought.
I had lost all steering and was leaking badly.
Belt replaced at some time.
Rack is out of my ability to repair since I live in an Apt
Thanks for any insight!
I recently started to hear a sizzling type noise when turning my wheel (i have an aygo with electric power steering) especially when i turn left.
I think happened after i came out of a roundabout and when turning the wheel back left it felt a bit loose turning rather than firm with the road, if that makes sense. Only assuming it happened then as shortly after the roundabout i noticed a tyre pressure light on but no flat tyres, and then following that I started the hear the sizzling/static-y noise. Any ideas?
Makes a rubbing noise when I turn wheel. It's a electronic power steering
My car got hit hard in a road hole and this sound started could it be suspension issue
this happened to me today. wondering what it is. ever get it figured out?
My Civic makes minor noise only when turning steering wheel all the way to left at low speed, sounds like rubber squeaking, not constant. Anyone knows what could possibly cause this?
Did you find the issue?
I just got a car from byrider and something went in my attesting it’s making a noise when I turn right only and it’s hard to turn right but only right it’s not every time I turn and the noise sounds like air getting pushed out of somewhere whatcha thinking it might be???
Went in my steering***
Power steering pump
better if rearrange causes according to what type of noise you have. for me, when rotating steering wheel there is a squeaky noise (like rubber on rubber)...
Hi, did you find out the cause and did you manage to eliminate it?

The Most AMAZING VIDEO I'VE EVER SEEN HIS BREAKING IT DOWN TO THE T. 🫵👍
what if your not losing fluid anywhere and it is still very easy to turn steering wheel but it makes the noise? thanks
Wondering the same!
following because it just happened to me now
Happening to me as well
