  • Join me on the BAA section at Quatford for an afternoon session in mixed conditions!
If you've enjoyed the video and want to help support me with creating future videos - You can Buy Me a Coffee here - buymeacoffee.c...
The initial part of the session was under cloudy skies however these soon passed and it became very bright and warm resulting in tough fishing conditions. Before the fishing starts - I’ll show you the parking and access for this stretch (off the A442 2-3 miles south of Bridgnorth) and a selection of the pegs if you’ve not been to Quatford before.
Once fishing and after a change in pegs - See a few fish hitting the back of the landing net with a very nice surprise specimen included resulting in the largest catch of this species for a good 5 years from the Severn.
The equipment & bait I used is as follows -
Rods - Korum 1.75lb TC Barbel Rods
    Reels - Shimano ST4000 Baitrunners
    Line - ESP Syncro 12lb
Rigs - Running rig with 8lb flouro hooklength
Hook - Size 8 wide gape
Bait - CKO 8mm pellets and Cocoons from Vortex Baits. Dendrabena worms for a limited time.
Ground bait - Dynamite Big Fish River Range - Meat Furter flavour
Hopefully you enjoy the content.. Thanks for watching.

Happy memories, Cardiac hill at the start and a nightmare on the way back, couldnt manage it now, remember drawing the last peg on that section in a match, knackered now just thinking about it.Oh, and you couldnt walk down that road it used to be a dirt pathway next to what used to be the little chef.

My word, its changed since I used to fish the section. I used to fish just before an old chapel that used to have a quaint bell that rang just before the little chef which I gather is now one of the diners. I think one of the diners used to be a pub. I think it may have been called Quat where I fished. Happy days but when the barbel were going you needed a serious amount of maggots to keep the feeder topped up

Another brilliant video Rob. Very informative. Especially for members like myself who live quite far away (N Wales). Nothing worse than getting to a new venue to then spend an hour or so finding somewhere to park and how to access the water. Will definitely try my luck at Quatford on my next venture. Thank you.

Going to be 100% honest here, these videos covering the River Severn on the BAA card are worth there weight in gold. My mate and myself, are new to the BAA card and your advise has helped us bag up barbel and chub, one very happy sub here. One quick question what leads are you using to hold bottom as I tend to use Korum river feeders 90g to 120g

    • @RobsAngling
      @RobsAngling  Год назад +2

Great to hear this! Thanks very much. I’m mostly using 2oz leads/feeders with a step up to 3oz when higher levels are on. It’s very rare I use anything more that 3oz on the Severn. 👍🎣

I used to fish Quatford in the late 90s more than anyone else and I think you was fishing in one of the stack holes or very close by.. reason why they were called the stack holes because many many many years ago before like the river is today they used stack the boats up on the opposite bank and the is a ledge and you used to at to cast onto the ledge with the feeder full of hemp caster or bronze maggots then slowly retrieve it till the feeder fell off the ledge 100lb of barbel from there was a doddle..so was some other good pegs to..like the corner opposite some willow trees just down from the stack holes also in meadow two..then the most famous peg is in meadow one called the glory hole where I believe was the first peg on the severn to produce over 100lb of barbel in a 5 hour match..but don't even ask me about Ironbridge been fishing there since i was four at jackfield by the rapids so 50 years now..but been spoilt by all the work that was needed to be done because of subsidence and plus when the Half-moon Inn was reopened so I only go there now in the colder months but still catch plenty..but mainly fish the river tame Tamworth in a little call Elford absolutely full of fish in the winter waste of time in spring or summer.. Sorry for the long comment lol i got carried away lol

No probs Paul.. Good to hear all of your thoughts. There are a few very nice spots at Quatford which produce really well if you find them. It's one of my favourite sections of the middle Severn. Good luck with your angling - Hope you're having a few..

What a great looking Roach Rob, you fish exactly the same way as i do pva mesh mags i use 10mm halibut pellets usually on the downstream rod with a groundbait feeder on the upstream rod on a sausuage or cheese and garlic dumbell (12mm) i did go to the shingle was decent to be fair 5 barbel 6 chub biggest at 9-4-0. I am going again this weekend but on a different stretch
